No longer does State Inspections. ***Response to the owner... I honestly didn't realize how many no longer did them. Where are we supposed to go? It's kind of a rhetorical question but still. I do so appreciate your response. It was very informative and very kind. I would much rather support small business than take it to a conglomerate. Thanks again!

This shop does not deserve your business. Unprofessional. Uncommunicative. My vehicle was in worse shape than when I brought it there. After going there for years, I’m not sure what happened but I no longer consider them to be reputable at all. This is further evidenced by the childish and snipe-y response the owner gave to a bad review.

I had a check engine light on. I asked the kid working customer service what they could do. The customer service kid told me that I could leave the car there and have it checked. I hung up went on YouTube and saw that you could go an automotive place like Autozone and find the specific code and just get the specific part. Turns out I just needed an air filter, I spent only $40. God's the truth. When I brought that up to the kid. That they could have just told me that in the first place the kid asked me if that's how I run my shop. He's pretty funny at least

I've had a good amount of work done on my various vehicles at 766 Auto and have always been very happy with their work. They go the extra mile and make sure that work is done well and quickly. Very honest and trustworthy! Highly recommend.

Same experience as others have mentioned. I’m somewhat mechanically inclined and tend to do repairs on my own as I’m a DIY kind of person. I’ve brought numerous vehicles to them over the past several years and I’ll say that they do a great job with minor issues like oil changes, brake jobs and battery issues etc. but if you need any engine/transmission work, or any repairs that require use of computer systems that most dealerships have, I’d say look elsewhere. They’re nice people, they just seem overworked to be able to do fix anything other than minor problems.

They are cheats. I paid the cost for not checking the work, ( it was not even started). Paid in full for work not performed. They charged me even though no work was done! I had no recourse because they were closed when I finally found out and the warranty had expired.

I have had 2 separate cars serviced here, one of them being a 2004 Jaguar. This place is fantastic and knowledgeable. The customer service is impeccable. Best full service place in Austin Texas!

I think this mechanic shop may be good for things like oil and tire changes. The last two times I took my car to this auto shop for repairs because of engine check light, after I was called that the car was fixed and paid much for the repairs, I barely drove 5mins and had the check lights on again both times. When I called about the issue, the mechanic that picked the call said that there could be a million reason the light came back on, that just sound ridiculous, considering I just paid for repairs to get the check engine light fixed. I went there the second time for check light just to confirm the first was not a concidence, but still same issue, check light came back on after leaving the shop. I gave two stars because they seen to work promptly, but not quality!

Danny and team are always polite, respectful, and amazing at diagnostic work and repair. I have taken my car into them a handful of times for everything from having an issue with my AC not working, needing a standard oil change, and getting a chunk of metal taken out of my tire. They are quick and professional, and I appreciate the time Danny takes to explain things to me in a way that I understand without feeling talked down to. As a woman I truly appreciate the way Danny and team make me feel safe and respected. I am a lifelong customer and highly recommend!

I'd give more stars if possible. I'm just passing through Austin and was reluctant to get an oil change somewhere I'd never been, but the team here killed it. Super quick, friendly staff, and Danny helped find where a slow leak was happening in one of my tires. Another one of the mechanics even took the time to vacuum my driver floorboard while they were wrapping up the service. 10/10 would recommend, and if I'm ever in the Austin area again this will be my spot. Bravo, 776 Auto team, and mahalo for the southern hospitality. 🤙

My radiator was toast so I came in here cause it was close to my place and could handle a refill with water before me stopping again. Diagnostic fee was $135. I did need to replace the radiator for an old Honda Civic so it ended up being $1000 total. They did have time to do it and I could pick it up the next day (I was in a hurry to drive out of town that weekend so that was appreciated). Called another shop, Buddha's Garage and they didn't need a diagnostic run, and total would have come out to ~$700 total. However, they were booked for a few days. I'd definitely come back here and pay the premium for time but I'd try Buddha's first if you have time. They were great on the phone and super helpful about what part I needed before I even walked in the door.

Overpriced, details overlooked. Not impressed with the shop unfortunately. Was quoted $2500 for a timing belt change when other shops would do it for $1300. Overcharged on little things like filter installation and tire rotation. You’re better off going to the chains for your maintenance and then smaller shops for your big stuff.

Had some bolts back out of my caliper mounting bracket, but sounded like something much more serious as I limped in my truck.. the guys took care of it quickly and at a fair price.. five star all the way, and not to forget the only place around to get the real deal mobile 1 oil changes.. I had them take care of that too.. thanks Johnny-v

I love these guys!!! As a new Austinite, I came here to get my vehicle inspected so I could get a Texas license plate. I chose 766 simply because they were (1) close and (2) open to walk-ins. I was pleasantly surprised by how helpful and polite they were, how quickly they did the work, and how little they charged. Just days later, my daughter asked me to get her car inspected. Naturally, I went to 766. Once again, the process was quick, easy, and inexpensive. Finally, I took my daughter's other car in for an oil change and an inspection. The car failed the inspection, but they explained very clearly why it failed and how to fix the problem. The battery had died recently, which zeroed out the sensors; it has to be driven 150-250 miles, then taken in again. And they said they'll do the reinspection for free. Yet again, the service was outstanding, the wait was short, and the price was right.
