This is my go to place! I come across town to see them now. I always come in alone and as a girl I have never had any issues or experienced sketchy/questionable behavior from them. They are friendly and great at communicating. They always explain what's going on with my vehicle in detail. They also do not take any extra liberties with repairs before checking with me and explaining my options which is an issue I've had with other mechanics in the past.

Got a couple fuel pumps, ignition module and some other preventative maintenance done through these guys and am happy with the work. I am even happier with their responsiveness. Both Bryan and Kory have helped me in a bind on my OSB ford on multiple occasions. Even taking time out of their day to give me pointers via phone while I am doing a lot of the work myself on this project and learning as I go. Always extremely informative and transparent. These guys are super honest and will be my go to mechanics in the future when needed.

Will be back. Honest and kind. Can't ask for much more. Explained some of the issues I should keep an eye on and what to look out for. Even offered to let me bring the car by to get fill tires or top off fluids. Never ever had that offered up. Says a lot about the operation and the folks that run it. Thanks!

Fantastic experience! They got me in sooner than anyone else I called, and as a new customer they did a comprehensive check of the car in addition to diagnosing the issue at hand. I dropped it off at 7am, got a call just before noon with their recommended course of action and price, I agreed and it was done at 3pm. When I went to pick it up they walked me out to the car and made sure I was happy with how it ran, told me of some upcoming service needs, and told me I’m always welcome to drop by for tire air, washer fluid, etc. Just a really great, honest mechanic with fair prices. Would definitely reccomend!

Friendly, straightforward, honest mechanic shop. They fixed my daughter’s car for me and let me know what needed to be fixed now and what could wait. They even told me what I could do myself and gave me a few tips on how to do it. Pricing was fair and reasonable. Will definitely be taking all my vehicles here from now on. They even fought with the warranty people for me so I didn’t have to. AMAZING customer service!!!!

I gave this place 5 Stars. I would have given it a 100. They were very accommodating to squeeze my son’s truck in for repairs after he had broke down on the highway during the scorching heat in Portland. He is away from home for the summer, staying in Portland, so as his father, not knowing any Auto Repair shops, I took a gamble with A-1, and I hit the jackpot. Fair, honest and high quality work with great customer service Highly recommended!

A local carwash snagged my wipers on my low-mileage Cavalier. A-1 took my car in the day I called them. They had it inspected by close of business that day, told me the estimate to replace the wiper transmission linkage, and said they could have it fixed the next day. I was shocked! My car may only have 18,000 miles on it, but it was 20 years old. They took excellent care of it, and finished it, as promised. I am definitely going back for future repairs!

I highly recommend Bryan and A-1 Automotive. They are flexible, economical, and communicative. I have been going here for over two years with my aging Prius and they are routinely able to find time to minimize my days without a car while also helping me to make informed and efficient choices. I have also seen them council other customers (in addition to myself) on how to save money and maximize value on repairs, tires, and other services. I cannot recommend them enough and they are a perfect blend of trustworthiness and competence that somehow makes getting your car repaired a “good” experience.

My car is 20+ years old. Sixteen years ago, I drove across the; country and settled here. Ever since, Brian and the crew at A-1 Automotive have kept me rolling along without a care. I count on them for their expertise, & courteous, careful service. They never disappoint. Whether I turn up with an urgent need, or a scheduled appointment, they solve the problem promptly and efficiently. You can trust their work, and that is a huge relief to me who knows little about the mechanics of my car.

Never thought I’d love a mechanic but wow, I feel so safe with A-1. Brian is incredibly informative about what is needed asap and what can be held off for a while. He even told us how to do a few small maintenance things ourselves to avoid their labor + parts fees.

Asked for a quote was given vague reply having to do with parts not sold through their shop. I asked for quote if parts were not sold as profit and 3 days later crickets assuming they only work with parts they profit from and they don't disclose their hourly billing at least in a requested quote. Unprofessional at best, terrible at communication in the area of customer service glad I didn't have work done here that required warranty or anything more complex than a quote.

Best mechanic shop in Portland. These guys are honest mechanics . If they say what’s wrong with the car that’s what’s wrong. They aren’t trying to push services and parts on you that don’t need to be replaced. And the owner kory is super nice. He’s always gone out of his way to help me with me car. 10/10 recommend

Can’t believe I didn’t make this review sooner. My family has been going through a1 for as long as I remember and it has always been such a great experience going through them. Their customer service is always spot on and amazing, same goes with their communication. Their work is fast and reasonably priced. I’ve always recommended my friends to this shop and I have never heard of a bad experience from them. The only thing I wish they did differently is work on newer bmws but I’ve done some work on mine myself and I can’t blame them for not wanting to touch them lol. However, with that being said they have done some smaller maintenance on my bmw I had like refrigerant for ac. The team at a1 is like non other shop I’ve been to.

asked if they did underglow installs, chick named lisa said no and hung up, worst customer service i’ve ever had (in response to your reply no you didn’t refer me to any places that “might” do them you hung up without giving me any information all you said was “we don’t do that” and yes i will not be a customer and i will make sure no one i know goes to you guys.)
