Horrible owner is extremely rude and extremely unprofessional

After American Toyota informed me that a loud squeaking noise was from a faulty transmission and would cost $9,300 to replace I took it to AAMCO for a second opinion and estimate. Was told to bring it in Thursday morning where they would check it out and get back to me on Monday, free of charge, unlike Toyota where it took $170 out of my wallet just for the diagnosis. To make a long story short, John informed me that they didn’t detect any transmission problems and that the noise was from the engine mounts. Although I did not repair the problem, I appreciated the honest and accurate diagnosis and not having to pay to learn what was wrong with my truck. Thanks AAMCO!!!

I had a old Chevy that needed the transmission rebuilt. I didn't have all the cash up front and would bring in payments everytime I got paid . If it wasn't for this arrangement I would of never got this done. I appreciated this so much. I got my truck back and it shifts so perfectly. It's a dream to drive. The whole team at aamco deserves 5 stars for there work.

Brought my three-quarter ton truck in with a transmission shifting problem. Kept wanting to shift up and down between 40 and 50 miles an hour. Technicians Don and Nick diagnosed and replaced a couple of small parts that provide signals for the transmission. My truck is now running very smoothly and shifting perfectly. Thanks to Leah In the front office for keeping me well informed and paperwork up-to-date. Extremely satisfied with this Aamco location.

I like this place because my truck was going into the wrong gears and called the same day and they got my truck in that day and fixed it in a couple hours and now my truck goes into gear a lot smoother and feels better driving.

Thank you to Leah & John & the mechanics at AAMCO on Lomas in Albuquerque, NM. No nonsense courtesy check on my transmission. They diagnosed the situation, found the parts needed and repair done within a matter of hours. I appreciated Leah's customer service regarding educating me on the diagnostics & on the billing. Feels good to be driving a safe car on the road. 5 stars.

Had a tranny rebuild in 2020. In 2023, my 2003 Dodge Dakota automatic would not go into drive. What really bothers me is the warranty was for 18 months. When I signed the rebuild agreement, I asked for the parts and my request was written on a yellow sticky. Tony told me he would make sure they knew. Did I get the parts? No, I was told they must have been thrown away. Bad, bad, bad business practice! What the heck. . .well in October 2023 it quit working. My Dakota would not go into drive. It has been sitting for almost a year. I only drove it to work as a caregiver approximately 20 miles, 5 days a week. I can't afford to pay to go to another transmission company. My question is why after 17 years my Dakota was working, then after that many years it needed help? I don't know why a complete rebuild was completely necessary. I spent $2400 plus for 3 years of driving! I'm an unhappy with a business called AAMCO on Lomas Blvd, Albuquerque, NM.

Left my car there for two days and had to call three times but no answer. Finally went up there today just to find out that they couldn’t locate the part they needed. No one came out to talk to me about driving the car! I didn’t want to ruin it more because it has a small leak in the transmission. I didn’t even want to ask if they could add some transmission oil because the guy just sat in his office and had the lady in front tell me they couldn’t find the part. Don’t even tell me they would keep looking for the part. Horrible customer service. Never again

They took several days to identify the problem of my car. When I wanted to go pick it up, they lost the key and had to call a locksmith to get a new set of keys as it was my only key. They broke my driver side door handle in the process

took a car here a while back to get the transmission rebuilt, took them like 3-4 months and got the car back with the air filter literally upside down, alternator unplugged, battery dead, and ignition cylinder broke

Really nice people. I called first and they had me in the next morning, out the next day ! No randomly added prices and a plus for women they didn't treat me like I was dumb. Highly recommend They are also car shield partners next transmission service I need I will be back

These guys are absolute masters on transmissions. We had a major issue with our transmission which left us stuck in Albuquerque and these guys were able to replace the transmission quickly and efficiently, even if ours was a foreign vehicle and the parts had to be brought from Europe. Leah and John were very understanding, kind and empathetic with us at all times, and the technicians team made an awesome job!

They put the wrong drive shaft on our truck after we spent over 5,000 having transmission rebuilt. Make sure they put in your originals parts. We had an aluminum one and they put a steel one that was to heavy and fell off. Now they don't want to make it right. So I am just warning people.

They took advantage of my mother she is older and they told her they would do a good job. When her transmission started giving her trouble she went in the man looked her and I in the face and said what do you want me to do about you already paid and drove off. He told us it would be weeks before they could look at her vehicle and they couldn’t guarantee they would be able to find the problem boo on them she gave you 6000 dollars we took it to another place and they stated that since they didn’t replace the radiator along with it that the entire engine was contaminated and the vehicle is no totaled. Our truck is running better than ever and it didn’t completely wipe us out financially. The mechanics were great, when they realized the exhaust donut was leaking after fixing the clutch they fixed it for just the cost of the part. Leah at the front desk is awesome- she kept us informed throughout the whole process and was very kind. 10/10 would recommend Disregard most of what i said. These people could have gotten us killed. After supposedly replacing the clutch our transmission went out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. They are supposedly transmission experts and instead managed to install a clutch badly enough that a transmission that was “running just fine” blew up less than 1,000 miles later. Do not trust these people with your car- they will take you for all your worth and destroy your life.

We broke down in the mountains of New Mexico when our motor home lost all the gears in its warrantied AAMCO remanufactured transmission. I called our home base AAMCO in Rochester, NY (Vanessa--our angel savior!) and after some basic troubleshooting, we got a tow to Albuquerque AAMCO. Once there at midday on a Friday, the staff opened a warranty work order, assessed the problem and started the process to replace the malfunctioning transmission. Since we had no place to go while waiting, they supported us living in the parked motor home beside their shop! Because of the weekend timing, we ended up doing this for 2.5 weeks even though the actual rebuild and shipping was under two weeks. Endlessly patient, friendly and knowledgeable, the staff worked hard to get us back on the road as quickly as possible. I Googled the type of service involved and discovered that getting the necessary work done and shipped in less than two weeks is about the fastest processing possible. Breaking down is never fun and can be very stressful, but we will always be grateful to AAMCO staff across the country for this kind of support and service.

If I could have gave a lower rating, I would but this will have to suffice. I took my doge charger to get some transmission work done after it kept running a code for it, but the people at AAMCO transmission said that it was something entirely different and wasn't running a code for the transmission. So I paid for a 2,000 dollar problem just for my check engine light to trun right back on within 10 days of having it back. Now they are telling me I need a WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION in the cost of 7,000 dollars. I asked for some not even all of my money back just for John the owner to laugh and say see you in court, which he will be. I am 8 month's pregnant and high risk and just need a reliable car and if I had known I needed a whole new transmission I would have traded my car in. This was all to much stress for something that should have been handled professionally. If your are looking for work done I do not recommend this money grabbing scheme.
