Best Shop in Knoxville! I have known Michael, the owner, for about 5 years and have had different vehicles for both by business and personal use in this shop. I don't trust mechanics in general because they BS too much, but as someone that works on my own vehicles, this shop has always been honest and upfront with me. I so appreciate the way they do business. It is my go to shop whenever I need something done that I can't do myself. I can leave my car/truck and know that its being done correctly and that they are not needlessly upselling me. Plus, Michael is a solid guy. He his honest and serves his community every chance he gets! I highly recommend Knuckle Busters.

They made me feel totally dismissed like they didn’t believe the issues I was having until my husband confirmed. They kept my vehicle for a week to “diag” AC and transmission shifting issues. I told them what the problem was in the beginning, I just needed a quote to replace. They could not provide any test results they performed on the transmission and I was out over $200 and no vehicle for a week. Definitely isn’t the same place I received good work and communication from back in 2021. It’s a shame. I’ll never go back.

Can’t recommend them enough. Great guys. Except for that John guy. You gotta keep an eye on him 😃Can’t beat the labor and parts warranty either.

I would recommend this shop if you are having transmission problems, the lobby and restroom was clean, price was reasonable, everything was explained and price given up front after issue was located, the employes were kind and work was done in a timely matter. I was completely satisfied and would definitely go back if needed.

It was PERFECT! Truck seems to be much smoother during shifting and the experience with this shop was totally painless! Thank you so much. I appreciate your checking up also!

Micheal and his team are always helpful and nice when I am in the shop. I've used them many times for myself and my families vehicles.

The people who work here are amazing!!! I came in and waited for my car, and the customer service that I witnessed was unmatched. They are so kind and clearly care about their customers. I came in with a sensor issue that I was so worried was going to cost me thousands of dollars that I did not have and might not have even been worth it to put into my car. They took the time to do diagnostics and explained everything that was happening. It turned out to be a minor issue, and when they couldn't find the part, they repaired it. I highly recommend this location if you have any transmission issues, Jon and Michael will take good care of you!

This was my first time using AAMCO. My car was having a couple of issues and had to be towed. The free diagnostic didn’t give them all the answers they needed so a more in depth diagnostics was needed and Johnathan made sure with me first before they just did it. They found the problem and I was informed immediately. Although what is wrong with my car isn’t something they can fix due to me needing a new engine, they have helped me every step of the way. Shout out to Johnathan for being so nice and understanding and for making sure I was kept in the know with what was going on. Thank you all at AAMCO for helping me and for treating me so well! I will return again in the future for sure!

Could have easily sold me a new transmission but chose to fix the actual problem saving me thousands. Will always go to for my transmission work

Do Not bring your vehicle here. They’ll act like they have no clue what it’s going to cost…. Then once they get you in, they’ll try and rob you with there extremely high prices… 10k for a rebuilt transmission with a 3yr warranty, and that’s was with no labor… And we’re not talking a Ferrari, it’s a Toyota Camry. Within minutes the other Aamco store quoted 30% less which is still outrageous, but better. Now I have found one with 4yr warranty for 5200, including labor. Been in contact with Aamco corporate also, so we’ll see how they feel when they don’t receive a dime and that’s corporate approved

I got a quote to change my top radiator hose on my jeep today. They quoted me $125.35 for the hose and $342.50 for the labor. The hose was only $66 at a local part store and took all of 30 minutes to change. The AAMCO on Kingston pike gave me a quote of half the amount of this location. I do not recommend going here.

I was absolutely blown away by the service and customer service. I had to bring my two small kids with me. They were each given a brand new hot wheel to keep, they had coloring supplies, books, toys, a tv playing kids shows, a changing station stocked with diapers and wipes, and even gave my kids snow cones! The gentleman at the front desk and the one who serviced my car were so nice and genuine and they fixed my issue. I am officially a loyal customer here. So happy with the service I received today.

Check out the review response Don't bring your car here-especially if you're female and inexperienced with mechanic tricks. The embarrassment my boss has felt for recommending these folks. 00' Toyota Camry. Coolant and oil loss My car was hit while being driven by a mechanic, on top of having to pay almost $2300 for no solution. Valvoline thought it was the valve cover gasket but they're not exactly experienced mechanics. AAMCO replaced water pump, belts, oil pan and gaskets. Picked up car, as soon as I get in, no steering, but somehow it was test driven.Get a mile down the road. Car stalls. Go back to shop. Tweaked a spark plug. Go home, car has no coolant, reservoir was completely empty, from air bubble that would have taken a mechanic 5 minutes to run the vehicle to notice. I'm missing a hubcap. At first no check engine light seen by myself and mentioned by John The following week, I brought my car back 4 times in that week for same oil leak, same spot every time, was told by the owner Mike its residual. He pressure washed, but still seeing oil weeks later. Was also told if the oil looks clean then it is still leaking, however that oil was cycling through the same oil filter making it dirty again regardless. I asked if a blown head gasket was checked, it wasn't because it wasn't over heating though it wouldn't if passing between the cylinders. The 4th trip, I get a call from John that my car has been hit being moved by a mechanic. Asked to see security footage, Mike claimed he didn't know the password to security system. He's unaware I recorded our conversation. Feel free to email me if you want to hear this conversation yourself with Mike He agreed to replace hubcaps and rear bumper. Kept driving believing the drips I kept seeing were 'residual' Hubcaps and bumper were delivered about 3-4 weeks later, I show up and mention half the oil in my car is gone. Must still be leaking. Then I'm told I need another 380$ of work. So the original 1900$ didn't fix a thing, and then told I'm going to have gasket after gasket go bad and continue to leak oil, they can't promise anything, this wasn't mentioned before I had 1900$ of work done Last time they worked on my car, the problem was the original valve cover gasket and oil pressure sensor was the issue as mentioned originally by Valvoline.Another 380$, so having a warranty just means they're going to find something else to claim is the issue and charge you more for no resolution. Get home, wait until the next morning to double anything they touched, check my oil,.my tire is flat, unfortunately anything they have touched has a reoccurring issue, ofcourse this just started happening after they replaced the hubcaps. And for some reason, the trunk of my car now looks ransacked after I just organized it thinking it would help them have space to put the bumper back on. Not my biggest concern that morning though..there's now too much oil in my car which would easily break any gasket they just replaced having too much pressure throughout any traveling path of the oil system. About half way between low and full line on dipstick too much. Checked it 4 or 5 times wiping the dipstick each time trying to tell myself im wrong. Went to wipe excess oil off oil plug so my tools don't slip cus im already beyond frustrated and realized it's just spinning, a brand new oil pan and plug Nobody spends $2400 on a maybe kinda sorta fix, that was mentioned after $1900 and 4 trips back for unresolved repairs Mike blames and bash the customer for what they don't fix correctly and their carelessness. Girl scout cookie boxes don't make my car filthy, the interior of my car and cosmetic damage on the side of the vehicle from a previous owner and an aged bumper shouldn't hinder you from fixing an oil leaking under the hood Transmission fluid was never the issue Who would let you keep working on a vehicle after repeated negligence on top of issue not getting fixed. Ofcourse they want more money to fix nothing, but I'm not stupid Quit lying to people Quit blaming customers

May 07, 2024

I took my car over there and they replaced seal in my Transmission. And replaced axles. Now when I turn my car to the left it is asound that it did not make before it went into shop. Check my car in there this morning for AC Work. Was a first car there Brought it back home With nothing being done to it. So I We'll take it To the Ford company Where?I should have and they begin. That I will also have to pay for them to fix the sound That Was not there until it came back from Amco. So take your car there. By your own choice. I just do not recommend it.

May 07, 2024

If you want to be lied to, belittled, and overcharged then this is the place for you!! They will also wreck your car (causing damage), lose your hubcap, return your vehicle unfixed and then ridicule you and tell more lies in their reply to your review. They will also say and do whatever they think they can get away with because Mike has conveniently forgotten the password to their security system. I bet his memory would come back with a quickness if knowing this password would benefit him, somehow. I was privy to several phone conversations with Mike. His immaturity, lack of concern and basic "smarter than you" attitude were appalling and totally unprofessional. If you need car repairs, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Car troubles are aggravating enough without all the extras Mike and AAMCO will give you. Sometimes lessons are best learned through others' experiences. Our experience here was (and still is!!!!) a nightmare. I hope no one has to go thru what my daughter has gone through with these people. Shame on them. Karma will introduce herself to them one day.

We were from out of state ,they did a great job ,would recommend them

Jonathan is the man! He was very transparent and personable the entire time, and seemed genuinely interested in helping me find a solution to my problem, rather than making money off of me. While the repair route wasn't quite viable for my car's situation, I enjoyed my experience with Jonathan and the team.

Why is a dog pictured? Does that depict the way you're treated? Asking for a friend.

I took my vehicle in to have a gear oil leak fixed and a throw out bearing looked at. A week later they called and said the cv axle needs to be replaced along with a new clutch kit and several other repairs needed to get the car road ready. I said go ahead with what's needed to be done. They call back a couple days later and say that it's fixed and ready to be picked up. I pick the car up that day and drive it across the street only to find out that the car is throwing itself out of gear and there is now a new sound coming from the transmission that wasn't originally there I didn't even take the car home I left it there and called them the next day to relay my findings. At this point I'm already $4100 dollars in and the fact I drove it 10 feet and found new issues with the car tells me they didn't even test drive it after the first round of repairs. The mechanic told me he had installed a bolt upside down or something like that and it's good now. I asked about the new noise and they said they would have to take it back apart to investigate farther and it would be another inspection charge. So now long story short they're just gonna put in a whole new transmission at this point. I will be coming in around 11 thousand dollars on total cost and they have had the car goin on a month now. I feel like I have been SEVERLY milked on money and labor costs. This will be my last time ever using this shop after I get my car back.

I brought in a car recently that needed a new support bracket for a suspension bar replaced. They weren't able to identify the part number for the bracket to order it after searching online for 5 minutes, but "kindly" offered $400 to weld it in place. I said, "no thanks" obviously and I later found the part online for $15. It requires two standard bolts and can be replaced in less than 10 minutes with a socket wrench. Don't give these rejects your hard earned money. UPDATE: I spoke with a service member directly, since the number provided below in the follow up response isn't for the actual manager, just their store number. They said their hourly rate is $185 as of January 2024 and the national average is $205 for transmission shops. Even if they charged one hour of labor (as is typical for 20 minutes of work at a shop) instead of the 2 hours they quoted me, that's still insanely high. Just support local mechanics and welders who aren't beholden to corporate rates that are too dang high. I know prices of things have gone up like crazy because of the Federal Reserve doubling the money supply, but even in 2024, no one should be paying more than $100 to spot weld a simple bracket.

I've had my car in there twice for service I always lika couple visits in before I give a review but from the intake to the follow-up of the detailed work list to be done for my approval it was a very seamless process. I wasn't hesitate to refer anyone to this company Mike and his staff do a very detailed and quality job.

Great work here. I work at Tire Discounters and just want to say these guys are extremely professional. I broke down on the way to Knoxville and my wife and daughter were stuck up in the area until it was fixed. Thanks for your help!

Communication was definitely an issue. I have a Subaru Outback and I do understand parts take awhile to come through but they had my vehicle for 3 weeks. They told me it would take them two hours from getting the part in to have my vehicle ready. It took them 2 extra days. I showed up to pick it up Monday morning, they still haven’t taken it for a test drive so now having to wait another half hour for that to be complete. You would think for $5,300 we could have better customer service.

Excellent and courteous service

Dec 07, 2023

I took my car there a few months ago and paid $7,000 to get the transmission replaced… they were great and the service was quick… fast forward a few months and the car starts acting up and was leaking transmission fluid. I checked the warranty and it was still covered so I called and they told me to bring it on in…. After the first few days I called and they said they were running tests…. Called back the next week and they told me that my car was sending a “shutter code” and they would have to replace the transmission again, they had ordered the parts and they where waiting for them to be shipped, so I gave them another week and called back and they told me they where still running tests! A few days later I called and the guy said “sometimes things accidentally get put off, I’ll look into it now and have information for you tomorrow” WHAT?! I’m an understanding person and I avoid conflict at all costs so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called them back the next day. The guy said oh it’s good to go, you can come get your car, we hooked it to the computer and the code is gone, I asked them if they fixed the leak and he said yes. I got different story’s every time I called. So I show up to get the car and asked for the paperwork and the guy at the desk said “there isn’t any we couldn’t find anything wrong with it, we drove it and nothing happened. I said so you didn’t hook it up to the computer or fix the leak? He said no we didn’t do anything to it, if the issue gets worse bring it back, oh and we almost ran it out of gas…. I got in my car and it was literally blinking 0 miles to E!!! I had to pray that it made it to the gas station! I’m so upset with this company because when I paid cash to have the car fixed they got it done very fast and was very friendly, but when I needed it fixed under warranty AFTER paying 7k the first time, it sat in their shop for almost a month and all they did was give me the run around and almost leave me stranded and out of gas. I would not recommend this place. At all.

Took the car in for a clutch, that was the only thing wrong with it somehow they managed to mess up the steering. They paid for an alignment and something else and now it's at the actual dealership. They said it was a freak accident. It wasn't their fault but if they believed that they wouldn't have it towed to the dealership and they woud not have paid for an alignment but they're refusing to pay the dealership for fixing it and making it right even though they got their money and got faith for the clutch I would never recommend them. My son sent me a message and said they are going to pay the dealership now to fix his vehicle. He took his own parts to Amoco and the work was quite expensive. When they did the alignment on it and Amoco did pay for it. The guy said whoever worked on it messed up his steering. I'm just thankful is that they decided to make it right because he does work really hard. I talked to several mechanic and they said not the time you had to take out the steering column to put a clutch in and that could definitely cause problems but thumbs up for making it right.

Dec 07, 2023

When my trucks transmission was going out I honestly didn’t know what I was going to do, I’ve never trusted mechanics before due to the bad rep they get but I knew a transmission change was too big of a task for myself alone to tackle. Michael helped me feel comfort through the whole process and was very professional with how he produced himself and his team. They did an awesome repair and my trucks never run more better in my life, they would receive a 5 star rating if it wasn’t for the fact that I had to wait an extended period of time, but I’m definitely a satisfied customer

Dec 07, 2023

Wish I could give better rating as Michael was very nice and informative. We were told repair would be 2 days or less. Dropped it off on Monday and wasn't finished until 5 pm on Friday, they knew we needed the car no later than Friday at 9 am. Had to rent a car on Friday, another $120. When car was finally finished there was no apology, no explanation and Nathan was completely rude to my daughter on several occasions. Unfortunately won't go back. One week later car is doing exactly what we brought it in for so not fixed, over 3k in work
