Derek and Huang got my 1985 Saab up and running after it was non operational for a couple years. I was fearful that my old car was beyond repair but through tenacity (getting parts from a Saab reseller on the East Coast), communication (working with me to prioritize which repairs should be performed immediately), and specialized knowledge (Huang is a Saab expert), Derek and Huang got it running very well! Derek is honest, practical, and kind. I wish I could give this wonderful business 50 stars! Thank you so much!

I had transmission trouble with my 2018 Toyota and Derek at AAMCO Walnut Creek was an absolutely fantastic help. They fit me in last-minute and gave me a no-nonsense assessment of the issue, a quick fix timeline, and had me back on the road within a few days. Instead of the $9,000 in repairs my dealership quoted me, Derek and his partners were able to fix my transmission issue for only $2,300. I have taken my car here before, but its been a while since it is a little out the way. I decided to see about making the trip again, since usually the service is good, but Derek definitely has to work on his ccustomer service skills. I called to inquire about a possible oil change, and I did emphasize that I MIGHT make an appointment depending on the cost, etc. So after him telling me the price , which was north of $150 (if i wanted to get the correct oil that's typically used for my car), naturally I simply inquired about any possible coupons the store might be having at this time. That's why he starts getting super defensive, going on some rant about "German cars being hard to maintain", and the extra effort for getting certain parts. That's fine dude, it was a simple question, because hundreds of shops all over sometimes offer specials or discounts on oil changes. It's no big deal to simply ask, and obviously I'm not going to know if I don't ask. So don't be rude to a CUSTOMER who is looking for services done, but doesn't want to break the bank so is shopping around a bit. That's normal and everyday life. The other thing i didn't like is that he said "I'm sure there are places closer to you that you can go to." Wow. So you clearly don't want business. I don't give a flying f**k how far or close a place is; I called WALNUT CREEK for a reason because I wanted to take my car there. Why would you say something like that to a repeat customer? What if I had already shopped around at the closer places, and discovered that those places don't really have a good reputation either? What if I only felt comfortable sometimes going to a specific place? In a world where there are a lot of shady, dishonest, scamming mechanics and shops out there, you're not going to just immediately take your car to the place down the street, just because it's the closest, and end up over paying $1,000+ for something that was really only $200 or less to fix, had you done the research and gone out the way a little. Going back to the "German car" thing, I didn't like the implication that he would be losing THAT much money servicing my car, as if he gets requests for German cars all day long. Out of 50 cars in a day coming in the shop that are NOT German, my ONE German car is not going to make you homeless. So please tone down the arrogance. I understand business is business, but the average consumer is never quite necessarily ecstatic anytime they have to pay over $80 for an oil change, no matter the car. In California, we are taxed to death, and on top of maintenance, we pay overpriced insurance, overpriced car notes, overpriced car registration, overpriced additional maintainence, and overpriced gas. So don't act like I'm some freeloader just because I ASKED if there were any potential coupons. All you had to say was "unfortunately no, not at this time". Keep your personal opinions to yourself. And very unpopular opinion; you are damned right I'm going to ask for any discounts I can if I buy a car that's $40,000+ to start. If the system supported consumers more, maintainence/wear and tear fixes would be included for life of car, not just a limited warranty (which by the way, expensive things you need like brakes and spark plugs and tires are not even covered under any limited warranty). If I choose to ever go back, I hope that Derek (and anyone there) does a better job at customer service and being able to explain themselves without making a customer feel like they are a waste of time. Being honest is good, but being rude and purposely turning down money is not good. Which is even more ironic because Derek doesn't even work on the cars, he does the front office paperwork/check in. So I'm even more confused he acted like someone was trying to short him on labor as if he was the one working on the car. As if it were there were a slew of German cars being worked on that he was losing money on. Get real.

Transmission issue? Stay clear of dealerships! Go to a place who specialize in transmissions. They are extremely complicated and I would only trust someone who works on them everyday and has seen everything. The 3rd gen Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (2014-18) trucks have some known issues with the engine and transmissions. I wanted an expert to tell evaluate the health of my transmission. I needed an honest, reliable mechanic (hard to find these days). I drove farther to come to this shop based on reviews. All the positive reviews were spot on. I highly recommend this shop and will always bring my vehicles here to have the transmissions serviced. Replace the fluids often folks! Even before recommended intervals. The fluid tells a story and you can catch or prevent issues early. Its the best insurance.

We've been going to Derek and his crew for at least a decade at this point, and keep going back because of the honesty in the customer service and quality of the work they do. I grew up wrenching on cars in the 70's through the 00's, so I'm particular about who I let do the kind of repairs I no longer can physically do. I trust Derek to give me an honest evaluation of what work needs to be done, and more than once it's been simpler (and less expensive) than I expected. I am very satisfied with AAMCO. I had a leak in my transmission. It turned out to just need a service and new pan gasket. Derek Tinder explained everything to me as the process went forward. AAMCO fixed the problem quickly and at a fair price. This is an honest business.

I had an amazing experience at this transmission shop! I took my Mazda C-X5 here for a second opinion after the dealership told me I needed a $7,000 new transmission. Derrick, the owner, was very helpful, friendly, and authentic with me. He taught me about different important considerations with my car, test drove her, and was able to determine my car didn’t need a new transmission. He gave me very practical advice about the timeline of when I will be needing further service of my car. I appreciate finding honest mechanics like this!

What can I say about my experience here? Professional from start to finish. Derek, Jay and the whole crew were all courteous, friendly, and extremely helpful. I went in for a tune-up on my Lexus and they had found a couple additional issues. They explained in detail what it was and how much it would add to my original tune-up. I told them to do what was needed and they did. When I was called to pick up my car, it was found that one possible issue was not a problem, so my total cost was less than the original quote with the additional work. They could have easily done the quoted but unneeded work and I would have never known. They also explained in detail what services will be needed in the near future. Do I trust them? Absolutely, 100% ! They have earned a client in me and now my wife will be bringing her vehicle in for services as well. Give this trusted, locally owned shop you business and feel good about it.

AAMCO in Walnut Creek did great on my Transmission replacement work that I needed done. I was quoted from three shops and AAMCO came in with a great price. Once I authorized the work the actual price came down a bit so they over delivered there when it came to price. I was on a tight time frame and AAMCO delivered the finished work much faster than originally planned. I was able to get the car back and in time to take the family for a special memorial day trip. Overall Derek and his team were amazing with price, speed and service. My Tahoe is running great and should be for some time now. I'll be going to them for any future repair needs.

Derek and his team are very friendly and thorough. We had a dreaded "mystery" problem with our car that was causing the engine to cut out intermittently. The AAMCO team kept searching until they found the source and fixed it completely. The car is now reliable again and going strong. Awesome place. Had our 2013 f150 sticking in first gear at random times. They diagnosed it after trying to get it to act up, and fixed it along with doing a couple other things that needed some maintenance.

I had electrical issues with my 1999 Ford F150 . The left and right turn signal levers were not working after I moved my steering wheel down to better see the road. Derek the owner told me he would put his best electrical person (lady) on my car. Three hours later I was called to pick up my car. Everything worked perfectly. My experience with Jay and Aracelli was Awesome! They were able to calm my anxiety over the fear that I need a new transmission for my car. The technician was able to pinpoint the issue and repaired it. In addition, I gladly accepted the recommendation of getting transmission fluid replaced so that I can drive my car another 100,000 miles! The team is very professional.
