Dishonest and untrustworthy business! They present a polished image to lure customers in, but once you're there, they take advantage of your situation and overcharge for both parts and labor. I would not recommend trusting them with your vehicle or your hard-earned money. I highly suggest staying away and doing thorough research—there are plenty of fair and reputable alternatives in the area. Update: Thank you for your response, though I am surprised by the inaccuracies and unnecessary disclosure of personal information. When I initially brought my car in, I trusted you to identify the issue and charge a fair price for repairs. After receiving your estimate, I accepted under the assumption that I was being fairly charged for both the part and labor. I have since learned that there were more reasonable options available in the area for both diagnostics and repairs. When I expressed financial hardship, I did so to request fair treatment, not to ask for charity or to be publicly shamed. As for the dispute, I only followed common advice for situations where consumers feel overcharged by mechanics. The credit card company’s decision was not based on fraud, but rather on the business’s assurance they would ‘help with my situation,’ which did not occur. Additionally, I called your shop only once post-dispute, at which point my call was dismissed. Please understand that my review is intended to help others make an informed choice. I hope that your response does not discourage others from honestly sharing their experiences.

These guys at All Around are awesome John is a great guy. Just move to the SE and needed a mechanic that was honest and reliable. They took great notes and an awesome post service brief on everything which I really appreciated. Great location too right next to little beast brewing and lawless BBQ if you need it. I’ll be taking my car and my wife’s car here for the for seeable future for all our automotive needs

My family and I have been going to All Around Automotive since roughly 2008. Each encounter with them has been amazing. They have taken care of multiple of our cars for regular maintenance checks, large oil leaks, and full transmission replacements, just to name a few. We know that they will always be honest, up front, and tell us exactly what needs to be taken care of now vs. what can wait. The one or two times we have driven away and had to come back with a followup question / concern, they took care of it immediately. They are patient, responsive and fairly priced. They will get all maintenance done in a timely manner, and be upfront if things are taking longer than expected due to delays of shipments. We highly recommend All Around Automotive for all your car needs.

These guys are great - if you area looking for a trustworthy, honest repair facility this is the one. Their communication is excellent. I have been using them for 10 years and have had nothing but positive experiences. Highly recommend.

I feel thankful for finding All Around Automotive. I know nothing about cars and easily could have been swindled but Justin and his team were honest, direct and thoughtful with recommendations. Great experience overall.

I am always so appreciative of the folks at this shop. Justin is such a gem - he’s knowledgeable, communicative and genuinely helpful which is why we bring both of our cars here. I particularly appreciate that Justin always takes the time to explain what the problem is, the fix, and also discusses each issue independently, making sure to note important priority safety fixes from other more optional repairs. Justin explains where the costs stem from and I never feel I am being pressured or upsold for unnecessary work. The folks here are straightforward, competent, fair, friendly, and respectful. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of car service or repair. Unfortunately for Justin, while I am a pain in his butt, I will continue to use All Around for my car care. They’re awesome and my car now drives far better than I deserve for how rough I drive…

Thank goodness for All Around Automotive. They take great care of my ‘89 4Runner, as well as my husband’s Golf and his two work vehicles. We would never go anywhere else, and we wholeheartedly recommend this shop to all our friends and family. Justin & John are the greatest dudes you’ll ever meet- kind, honest, easygoing. This place is a gem.

Like many people, I have had my share of horror stories about car repairs (this is enhanced by the fact that I know little to nothing about cars). Those bad car moments stopped about 9 years ago when I took my car to All Around Automotive for the first time. I seriously wish I could them give 6 stars. First of all, they are incredibly nice and excellent about explaining what is going on with my car whenever there is an issue. They ALWAYS do a fantastic, efficient job with all types of repairs big and small. They always are great communicators regarding price, timeline and everything else you would want from a mechanic. All around automotive is the honest, friendly, highly skilled, mechanic you’ve been looking for. James, Justin and John are the BEST and I am so grateful to have this spectacular small business in my neighborhood. You guys rock!!!

So this place is great. They do pro work. They treat you rite and stand behind their work. Great customer service. I only go to them. On my 3rd vehicle that they take care of. I have taken them passenger cars and fleet vehicles. They work quick too once in the shop, which is nice. They have given me free advice many times. Sometimes I can’t afford the fix. If it looks like I can do it myself, but they’re diagnostic has always been correct. They don’t lie to the customer about what’s wrong w/ vehicle. Do yourself a favor- spend the $ and go to a good shop like this one. And there is a pie shop next door! What more could you want?

Thank you guys so much seriously cannot express how grateful we were! We were travelling from Canada visiting Portland and on our way home, we got a screw in one of tires. We were parked in front of the shop and was about to get tesla to service the car. The wait was about 4-8hrs, so we walked across to All Around and they were super fast to help. They took the car in right away and in about an hour we were on our way home! Everyone there was so friendly and that our safe travel was too of their list 🥹🥹 Thank you guys so much!!

This review is way overdue. This place fixed my BMW that 2 reputable BMW shops and the BMW dealer could not fix. It was a 3 year + saga (long story). They have kept all my cars on the road for 17 years. This is an old school family mechanic shop that is the definition of integrity. If you are going to spend your money on your car out of dealer warranty, I suggest you spend it here.

Woke up with a flat tire the other day and brought it in. The team was very friendly and even tightened my spare for me before I went off to my meeting. I came back and the repair was complete, it only cost $15 for the fix and they put the tire back on and stowed my spare. It was a relief to be take care of so quickly and affordably. I had a nice chat with Justin while I waited for my car to be pulled around, and he even recommended a great book for me. thank you!

I am the daughter of a retired mechanic. I'm extremely particular about who I take my cars to. These guys are hands down the best mechanics I've dealt with in my adult life. They are honest, give you all your options, and do quality work. It's peace of mind to have people that you can trust deliver any auto repair news, because let's face it, we'd all rather be spending our money on other things besides car repair. At least knowing you are being dealt a fair honest hand makes it easier to swallow.

Justin who works at All Around Automotive is a great guy. Friendly and he knows cars. They did a repair to fix some squeaking and it didn't work so they refunded my money. I've been using All Around Automotive for years and they do good work at fair prices. Convenient location too for those that live in the Richmond neighborhood.

I am seriously so grateful to have stumbled across these guys about a year and a half ago now. We have an older conversion van (1995) that we purchased to make our camping and festival van. Because of this, it is imperative for us that she is in the best running condition so we obviously don't get stranded. We can honestly say that, thanks to All Around, we have been to three festivals, did a 4 day OR road trip and probably 6 different camping trips all over OR with zero vehicle issues (knock on wood)! All Around has always performed a full vehicle check (when we request), written down whatever they feel should and/or must get fixed, explain it all and even provide which repairs need sooner than later and which were safety/mechanically priority to help out our budget and be able to fit all repairs in while keeping safety as the top priority. We couldn't ask for more when it comes to support and service. In addition, All Around is also the best in my opinion for their ability to explain the situation in non-technical terms so you can understand what you need repaired, as well as for their thoroughness. As an example we initially took our van to a previous mechanic that was very reputable (and a lot more $$$ might I add) and All Around discovered that the other mechanic had installed one of our rear brakes incorrectly! That was frustrating b/c we just dropped a lot of $$$ to get the entire rear brakes repaired/upgraded by this other mechanic. The best part was that All Around documented everything and told me if I wanted to go talk to the previous mechanic and let them know what was discovered, that they would be more than happy to discuss it with them in more detail if they wanted. Now that is just amazing in my opinion! That is tip top customer service and something I feel is very hard to come by now-a-days. All Around Automotive is a unicorn in the world of mechanics in my opinion because of their level of honesty, very competitive pricing, level of competence and their ability to not make you feel like an idiot when explaining what you need. As a customer we are not mechanics and I feel here they not only know and understand that but take it into consideration with their approach with explaining your vehicle repair so you can actually understand and be confident that not only is the repair needed but that it will also get done right the first time! Thank you All Around Automotive for just being you and taking care of your customers like we're family!

Very quick and helpful! They also have amazing rates and don't try to haggle you. They even put my foot brake pedal pad back on for me (I had recently knocked it off) without me even having to ask. So thoughtful! Very impressed. Thanks again!

When I came to this shop, I thought they were amazing. Super nice and informative, and they even reduced the labor costs to keep it affordable. I came in twice - once because my car wouldn't run a drive cycle. They managed to diagnose the issue - it was related to the tank pressure sensor. The repair cost me $730. I was able to pass DEQ, but shortly after the check engine light came on. My dash had an alert that read "check emission system". Life happened and I couldn't bring it back in right away, but it was driving normally. When I brought it back in and they said it was because the fuel tank cap was "put on wrong" and now parts of the solenoid needed to be replaced. I don't know if this is proper terminology, I'm just approximating from the invoices. That cost me another $450. I thought it curious that the repair was in the same area as the previous one, considering the light came on so quickly after the first repair. Well, my check engine light never did go out. It was driving fine and I needed my car - I couldn't afford to have it sit at a shop for another few weeks. Fast forward a few months and I was finally able to take it in. This time, I went to another shop and you know what they told me? They had to gut all the work All Around did because they used parts that weren't compatible with my car!! They had spliced them together so they functioned but they still were setting off codes. And the icing on the cake is that their janky warranty system is such garbage I'll probably never be able to get my money back.

I have been going here for the past 8 years and would recommend their services to anyone. They do high quality work along with friendly service and thorough diagnostics. Even details like a well written receipt and good communication during a fix go a long way and I have always experienced that from them.

I moved to Portland a year ago and am a young college aged female with out of state plates, so when I began having problems with my car I was very apprehensive who to go to because I was concerned about taking advantage of, something that people tried to pull on me back in my home state. All Around Automotive was recommended to me by a classmate, so I decided to try them and I was blown away by their service. Not only were they able to fit me in quickly (the following day) they inspected the engine compartment as a courtesy and found other problems that I was unaware of. They called me back later that day and let me know what they found, in addition to my initial problem, and were very thorough about explaining the problems to me without being condescending (an issue I've had in the past with other mechanics). They were never pushy about making the additional repairs and left the choice up to me. And due to the age of the car, the mileage and being the third owner the problems they found were realistic and not made up to get extra money and made total sense as it was problems that would have never been dealt with. I talked with both James and Justin who were both very kind and straight forward along with being very patient with me and not pushing for an answer on the spot. While I spent significantly more than anticipated, (just due to all what had to be done on my car) the prices were very fair and honest for the amount of work that had to be done (aka I was not overcharged). I can't say enough positive things about them, I will be returning in the future for any car problems and routine maintenance.

This is the 3rd car that AAA has maintained for me. They remind me when it's time for oil changes, etc. They always inspect the car and tell me what to watch for. They also don't mind patiently explaining virtually everything about how an auto works.
