Update: We still use Atomic Auto for all our cars and thoroughly trust them for diagnoses, repairs, and lots of helpful advice. We've never been steered wrong 🚘. Thanks again, guys! The Best! We've taken all our cars to Atomic Auto for years and have always been pleased with their conscientiousness and attention to detail. Their technicians are very knowledgeable and you can trust that they will not try to gouge or overcharge you. Can you love your mechanic? Absolutely!

I took my ‘14 Prius here for its first 5k service after I purchased used at 109k miles. This shop has a great customer portal where I could view pictures of parts of the car that they are inspecting, and a nice checklist of recommended services that you can think about without having sticker shock on the phone or at pickup. I felt comfortable asking dumb questions. I’ll be going back next week for major regular maintenance catchup and expect that to go well.

Arrived for my appointment and the office was closed (staffing problems). They had a key drop with great instructions including reaching them by text. I got a real person reply within minutes and left assured my car was being attended to. Communication was excellent throughout the day, the work was great and the overall inspection far more than I expected. The invoice was certainly fair! I will be back!

I am new to this area so I’ve decided to trust atomic for diagnostic recommendations on this 3rd gen 2015 Toyota hybrid. Beforehand I discussed some maintenance expenses that might be worth doing to find their recommendations but went ahead and paid for the full diagnostic session to check for sure and I’m quite confident in the vehicle at this point till a repair is needed, and I may opt to upgrade its engine to a 4th gen, if I can afford it at that time. It seems extreme but also more cost effective than trading / replacing the vehicle which will come with similar baseline costs anyway. Their expert opinion has given me confidence and a starting point to plan upcoming expenses.

I cannot speak to their repair work, but I went here to get my DEQ Emissions Test done and they were awesome! They even explained to me what to do next since I’m new to Portland. And no extra fee!

I dropped off my Honda civic with broken wipers and side mirror. The process could not be any smoother than it was. The price was fair and I was able to get my car back on the road very quickly. The communication every step of the way was awesome. Could not recommend this place enough

I get my oil changed and the prius checked out regularly at Atomic. Tried Tonkin a few years back but was not as satisfied as with Atomic. Thanks to all at Atomic!

Best mechanics in town! Been bringing my Honda Element here for a decade, as far back as the old Sandy location. I’ve never been more confident in a group of mechanics to give me an honest assessment of what is critical and what can wait. The booking and billing system is so modern I’ve come to expect as much ease from other services companies. The fellas in the front are super kind and accommodating. I continue to recommend them to any and all Portland friends looking for an honest shop.

First off: if you need wiper blades, go to any auto parts store and they will give you the CORRECT blades, and will even install them for you if you have trouble FOR FREE. When my partner got the estimate for new wiper blades from Atomic, I felt $100 was too steep, so I told her I would take care of it. I actually remember going to Baxter just a year ago and buying blades for 30 bucks and having them install them in under 3 minutes.. so I'm not sure why they needed replacing anyway, as she puts very few miles on this car. I drive her car often, and the blades were working fine. My partner made a mistake with the estimate email and accidentally agreed to have the blades installed. I was unaware of this until I had to lift the blade up to remove some trapped leaves and THE BLADE CAME OFF. For $100, they put the wrong blades on. So I drove by to ask them to fix it, and they didn't have the correct blades in stock. My partner had to make a separate trip the next day to get the correct blades installed. She rightfully asked for a refund--if one of those blades had come off during a rainy drive, not only would that be that dangerous, but it could have scratched the windshield irreparably. Regardless, we had to make two extra trips, we have spent over 7k with them in repairs over the past two years, and they didn't feel a refund was appropriate despite the waste of our time and a CLEAR LACK OF QUALITY CONTROL or KNOWLEDGE OF THE VEHICLE. I haven't heard the story yet because my partner had such a negative, insulting, and aggressive experience with Atomic trying to get a refund, that she prefers to wait until the weekend to calm down before she recounts the experience. If you can't manage to replace wiper blades properly, what confidence do we have that you can do more complicated repairs? UPDATE: I just checked and while they replaced the blades with ones that have the correct connections, they are still the wrong length. Whoopsie! UPDATE 2: I called this morning and left a message saying they had put the wrong blades on again. They called me back and I told them I felt that the full refund was fully justified seeing as how after three visits they still couldn't get it right and the person said, "sounds good!" And hung up on me.

I appreciate the honesty of this shop. I called about getting a catalytic converter cover installed and they told me while they were happy to do it, that because of the new laws and drop in prices in precious metals that it wasn't worth it in their opinion.

I called up Atomic Auto to anticipate what repairs I needed for my 2010 Prius considering I drive it for a living. They were super generous and looked up my car’s repair history on car fax. Little did I know that Prius’ often have problems with their water pump - which can lead to a blown head gasket and damaged engine. When I called local mechanics to ask what they thought of the water pump issue they didn’t have a clue what i was talking about. Glad i made the decision to call this business - they specialize in hybrids- they gave me accurate info and were super easy to communicate with.

We brought our '08 Prius in for an oil change, and we knew that there was some other minor issues. Atomic Auto was quick and efficient with the oil change. They also diagnosed and explained the other issues we have with our Prius (tire pressure sensor, tire tread wear, etc), but were not at all pushy with getting repairs done sooner than necessary. I would highly recommend Atomic Auto's services for anyone in the Portland area in need for hybrid automotive care and maintenance.

We live in Hillsboro. My wife and I have one car, our Prius. It’s a logistic hurdle to take it for service on the east side by Gateway transit center, but Atomic Auto was recommended to us by a local Beaverton mechanic’s shop that we’d used for many years called, Clutch Doctors. We loved CD because they would never recommend more than was prudent to take care of our car. But Clutch Doctors doesn’t specialize in hybrids, so they sent us to Atomic Auto where we get the same, No-BS level of care for our vehicle without the fear of being up-sold or overpriced. With service for a complex machine that you must count on for reliability, it’s all about trust! Atomic Auto has earned our trust and we recommend them without hesitation.
