Wife and I went to their location on Bell Road near 67th Ave to leave one of our cars for an oil change. Was sad to see the business was closed. Turns out they moved to 2050 West Deer Valley Road, about the same distance from our home as the prior location was when it was called Pat's Precision. We were very glad to see that they are still in business, now called Automotive Instincts. These guys have always been straight with us and they are always fair with their pricing. Once took our car to them for low compression and it turned out to be a plastic grocery bag that got sucked up by the engine and it was impeding air flow. Now you know a dishonest mechanic would have charged us for some bogus repair when all they did was remove a plastic bag, but they didn't charge us a dime. Good Luck in your new location guys!! (Unfortunately this company is no longer in business)

Having moved a good 20+ miles away from my usual mechanic it’s been a little rough finding one closer to me even though I’ve been lucky to have a car that hasn’t really given me as many problems until recently. Their prices are super reasonable, very quick with their work, they even let you bring your parts in for them to install (which most automotive places can be funny about) got my car running great my lights have never been any brighter on the car I think I found my people

Automotive Instincts is great I have nothing but positive things to say about this shop. Jason and Jeff have great communication. The day my parts showed up they called me to give me and update on what was going on with my car. After taking delivery of my car I couldn't be happier. I would recommend this shop to anyone needing work done on there vehicle.

Everybody here is Awesome, they’ve worked on me and my wife’s cars too many times to count and have always been there and had our back, it feels weird even taking either of our cars to do anything else at any other shop, truly amazing people and quality, can’t wait for all the future work we will have done at Automotive Instincts!!… oh yeah.. and they build the BADDEST CARS AROUND!!!

First of all great crew of guys! Jeff and Jason are super honest and even showed me work they have done and let me tell you they do some amazing work. I brought my 2015 Chevy 2500HD in for about $10k worth of performance upgrades. They helped me find the best parts and always kept in contact with me on when parts arrived and If any issues arised. As soon as I dropped of my truck they went straight to work and in a day and a half they had it pulled apart and back together (look at pictures!). While the truck was in they noticed a leak on my radiator and sent me a picture and asked if I wanted to replace it. I asked how long it would take to get and Jeff said same day and wouldn't delay. Once I got It back it was flawless and told me if any issue arised to give him a call or stop by and he'll take care of it. They really planned their time and steps to make sure it was done in a timely manner. They also do a bunch or normal maintenance as well and I will bring my truck here for the rest of its life. I would recommend them 100% small owned business doing honest work and at a great price! They will definitely get you taken care of.

Jeff and Jason are great. I have referred a lot of friends and family to them and everyone says the same thing they are very professional and take pride in what they do. Automotive instincts does almost everything from Daily Drivers both Gas and Diesel to Race cars and trucks. My Mustang has been built by them and I couldn't be happier.

Jeff and Jason have been amazing. I had a new V8 engine and 10 speed transmission installed into my 2007 Jeep JKU -- by a shop in Las Vegas. We ran into some issues with the original tune, AC, and post engine swap loose ends. Jeff was able to fix all the things that needed fixing, stepped up to the plate to learn a new Tuning platform for the GM V8 engine...and they have been stellar in all my dealings with them. I will continue driving 45 minutes to go to their shop -- not convenient -- but well worth the drive to North Phoenix. Highly recommended.

We have been taking our vehicles to Automotive Instincts back when they were Pat's Precision Auto. No more. We received an estimate for repairs that included $388 for new spark plugs. We just replace the spark plugs before my daughter drove the car back from college literally last week. When I questioned Jason about this, he became very defensive and basically an *ss on the phone. Jason: "we have no idea if your spark plugs need to be replaced or not, it's just a routine maintenance based on milage. Otherwise, we'd have to charge you $295 to pull the plugs to see if they needed to be replaced." Me: "well it's hard to trust a mechanic when they are recommending an expensive repair that I just had done last week." Jason on transmission repairs: "When you need the vehicle, it will take a million hours to fix and I have a lot of work here." My response: "Ummmm, when can you have my vehicle done?" When I got off the phone, I told my husband about the repairs and we decided not to have any of them done. When we called back, all Jason did was complain to my husband about me questioning the almost $400 in spark plug repairs! Then when we picked up the vehicle, he said not to come back, which we hadn't planned on anyways. Why would we want to take our vehicles to a place that puts work on invoice that they don't know whether or not it needs to be done. And I couldn't understand why a business would be so upset about someone questioning an unnecessary repair on the estimate, and then it dawned on me, he probably was just upset about getting caught...if they constantly put repairs on invoice that don't need to be done, that's could be a pretty good thing for them. Overall, they should just keep Jason in the back, we had been dealing with Jeff for years and he was a much better for front of business.

10/10 Jeff, Jason and Chad really know what they’re doing, They have done countless things and installed several things on my car and have had no issues with installs or how the car is after it leaves and even if there is a issue afterwards with another part on the car they will take time to diagnose it right there to figure out what it is. This is the only shop my car will ever go to.

Dec 05, 2020

Great people, great service. Honest good mechanics. Been going to them for years and they have ALWAYS done right by me. I reccomend them to anyone who ask...."hey, do you know a good mechanic?"

Dec 05, 2020

I went to this place on a whim and found my new home for any performance stuff. I walked in asked about a set up for my car. Jeff the owner/mechanic quoted me a price way lower than any other shop. He ordered the parts and called to let me know he ordered everything and then when the stuff came in he called. He called while doing the work to keep me posted and ask how I wanted things. They did an amazing job and did it quickly. Even after picking up the car there was something Small that need to be fixed and Jeff took the time to redo it before I left. These guys are amazing and I highly recommend them for anything car related.

Jeff and Jason over at Automotive Instincts are very friendly and are masterminds when it comes to working on any car whether it’s repairs, rebuilds, or performance work, ESPECIALLY MUSTANGS. When it comes to Fords, Jeff knows just about everything there is to know. Very professional, and when it comes to quality, these are the guys to get the job done. Extremely clean work, and will keep you updated every step of the way. I had blown the motor in my 2018 5.0 a while back, and took it to them for a rebuild and performance work. Lemme tell you, this s**t looked better than OEM when it was finished, and ran better than it did prior to blowing the motor. I thank them for everything they’ve done and continue to go through them and ONLY them today and from now on! AUTOMOTIVE INSTINCTS IS THE WAY

Dec 05, 2020

Really DISAPPOINTED IN JEFF’S WORK!!!! Don’t get me wrong at first, I was iffy about this shop. I spoke with JEFF the brains of the Mustangs & I started to get comfortable with his work. The car had a good amount of work done By Jeff, very pleased with his work & a little overpriced in my opinion, But at that point I had a projection in my head for my car to be done and street ready. After Getting the car back, I took it to AEM (Arizona Elite Motorsports) Bill tuned the car. After getting back my results from the dyno the car was not making no power over 4300RPMS. Bill mentioned it was a minor issue, he said it could be the pushrod length was off, or the timing chain is off by a tooth. From there I took back my car to JEFF @ AUTOMOTIVE INSTINCTS, After a few days later On August 20, 2020 I get a call and was told my car was ready. When I get there Jeff tells me to go test drive it, his exacts words were “ITS TOTALLY A DIFFERENT CAR”, meaning like brand new ,which I couldn’t resist to finally drive. I took it around the block & the car drove amazing I WAS THRILLED. ‘in my head I was like FINALLY the car is done I can enjoy it now. UNFORTUNATELY TWO DAYS LATER My car did not want to start. I didn’t think to much at first maybe a dead battery or alternator. I tried jumping cables, took of the starter took it to AUTOZONE it PASSED, my last option was to push the car to start it after the 4th or 5th attempt i noticed the rear wheels were locking up. I placed a ratchet on the crank and spun it about 180 degrees clockwise before it locked up, spun it counterclockwise about 180 before locking up again. I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG INTERNALLY. I CALLED & spoke to Jason, I was on hold and the call ended, I called back no answer & I called the next day no answer. I TEXTED them no response. At this point I felt avoided a few days turned into a month it is now 10/02/2020. With that being said I took matters into my own hands to resolve issue, I didn’t want to go this route bc of the warranty they had given me. But after them not bothering to get a hold of me I choose my route. After digging into the valves covers and spinning the crank, I noticed there was some lifters not moving. The Heads were taken off.. found out why the engine was locked up. There seemed to be a small metal piece with a little rubber piece that doesn’t look like it came from the engine, which made me assume something fell in it when it was worked on.. I have evidence of the damage. And unfortunately it has to come out my pocket now. REALLY AGGRAVATED!!! THAT I SPENT A FORTUNE, AND IM BACK IN SQUARE ONE!!! THANKS AUTOMOTIVE INSTINCTS! I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND! IF YOUR WILLING TO THROW MONEY!!

Dec 05, 2020

These guys are polite, informative and do excellent work.

Dec 05, 2019

I’ve worked for the owner years ago, I don’t work on cars anymore and send all of my previous customers and friends to these guys. You can trust their work and they’re great guys. One stop shop from oil changes to full on built motors, custom turbo kits, tuning and a lot more.

Dec 05, 2019

Jeff and Jason really get the job done. They make sure to take care of their customers. I support local family owned businesses. This should be your place! -Jamie

Dec 05, 2018

Honest down to earth people with honest prices. Won't rip you off and will give written estimated of all you options. Have used them for years when they were Pat's Autos on Bell Rd. Now a bit more difficult to find on Deer Valley but we'll worth asking their opinion in your next car problem. Very trustworthy.

Dec 05, 2018

I wont take my car anywhere else but here !

Dec 05, 2018

These guys are great! They take care of our fleet of business vehicles and our personal vehicles. Very ethical and timely service at a great price.

Dec 05, 2018

These guys have been working on my dad's cars for over a decade. They are never too busy for us which I really appreciate, keep up the good work guys!

Dec 05, 2017

Anyone who rates this place one star and then submits a 900 work manifesto clearly has more issues than their cars. These guys are rock stars! They explain and offer options and won't do band aid repairs. Absolutely fair pricing and just good people. No one else touches my vehicles!

Dec 05, 2017

I started going to Pat’s back in 2012. Now they moved and are now called Automotive Instincts and a bit farther away, but I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my cars. Automotive Instincts are great and hassle free.

Dec 05, 2016

Do yourself a favor and listen to the bad reviews. I didn't and I learned the hard way. I took my car in for starting problems. Sometimes it would start no problem, and other times it needed to be jumped to start, but it started every time and once it started it had no problems. Something seemed to be draining the battery so I took it to Pat's because of all the good reviews and ignored the bad. I drove my car there (It started fine) and left it; end of the day I still have not heard from Pat's so I call and I'm told they have it hooked up to the machine and are testing it, to give them a couple of hours and they will call me back. Couple hours later, still have not heard from them but I give it another hour or so before I call when I call I am told it has something to do with the ignition and they are trying to narrow it down so if they do not call me by 6pm they will call me by 9am the next day. 9am came and went and still no call from Pat's, so before I call I drive by and see my car sitting in front of the work area all closed up not being worked on so I call to find out an update. The person says they have it narrowed to 2 modules and a bunch of mumbo jumbo that he knew I wouldn't understand, but now I know he had no idea what he was talking about. At the end of our conversation he said it needed to be taken to the dealer and he wasn't charging me for diagnosis (He never gave me one anyway) to give him an hour or two to put it all back together?? Im thinking I just drove by and my car wasn't even being worked on so by this time I was so confused and had no faith in them. After telling my husband what was going on, he said I hope they didn't make our car worse because I've lost all trust in them. I show up to pick up my car a couple hours later and then and only then do they inform me that my car isn't starting at all now and hasn't been since the day prior. Then Jeff looks me in my eyes and tells me whatever the problem is probaby just finally took full effect. What? When I dropped my car off it was at least starting with a jump and now after they look at it it won't even crank? I had talked to Justin at least 3 times and my husband talked to him once since dropping it off and no one ever mentioned that our car wasn't starting at all anymore, this was the first we had heard this. To top it all off they have no diagnosis for me, he tells me that they won't charge me after all and since it isn't starting we have to have it towed. We are so angry at this point and know our car should not be in worse condition then when we dropped it off, at the very least it should be in the same working condition as it was when we dropped it off. Now we know why no one ever called us to offer any updates or when they promised to call, because they were probably hoping they could fix their mistake without us ever knowing what happened. When we first dropped it off, Justin made sure we knew that if we didn't have the work done there or right away that we would be responsible for a $90 diagnosis fee and now they were waiving it? We regret taking it to Pat's because now we are out of a car for 2 weeks till we can get it to someone who knows what they are doing. Having just moved here and with no family or friends here, I am supposed to walk in 40 degree weather to take my son to school with a 4 year old, a 3 year old, and a 1 year old so that my husband can drive our second car to work and make it there by 530am? Pat's didn't even offer an apology for what they did to our car and has no conscience or empathy for the families they are affecting by not admitting that they don't know how to fix certain issues, admitting their mistakes, or offering some sort of reparation for their wrong doing. These are not the type of people you want to do business with. Please don't make the same mistake we did. Be very weary if you decide to leave your car there cuz you might find yourself in the same situation as us and Pat's will do nothing but place the blame elsewhere.

I moved to the valley in 2009 and have driven relatively newer vehicles not requiring much more than normal maintenance. Recently though I had to replace a vehicle with an "older than I wanted" model. It's in good shape and fairly well maintained but as with any older vehicle things tend to wear out. Shortly after purchasing it I noticed a ticking noise and the A/C wasn't working as well as it should. A buddy of mine recommended Pat's Precision Auto as he's been taking his vehicles there for several years. Air conditioning work isn't cheap, however after running dye through the system they pinpointed leaks in the liquid line and compressor. They didn't try and sell me parts or sensors I didn't need, they fixed what was wrong and the A/C now blows ice cold. I took it back a couple weeks later to get the ticking issue fixed, which was determined to be an exhaust leak when the A/C was being repaired. They asked if I could spray down the bolts with penetrating oil a few days in advance to help prevent any bolts breaking. I've done a lot of work on vehicles I've owned over the years so it wasn't any problem, I knew what the issues with breaking exhaust bolts can bring. The exhaust repair came off without any problems. I also had them check the spark plugs and they recommended they be replaced (the vehicle has 134,000 miles on it). They didn't tell me I had to, there was no hard sell, just a recommendation. Being a 4.6L Triton Ford motor, which has a couple of tough plug locations towards the back, I went ahead and had them install new plugs and boots. They are friendly and ask straightforward questions as to your concerns in terms anyone can understand, the guys are straightforward with what is needed to make the repair and stand behind their work. The don't try and sell you "additionals" that "might go wrong", they fix what is needed and do a great job in the process. I've found my go to repair shop!

Dec 05, 2016

My wife and I noticed a coolant leak while stopped at a rest stop in Colorado. We were planning on driving home to Glendale, AZ. We monitored the leak, and added about 1 quart of water every 150 miles. In Albuquerque we realized that if the engine kept running, the leak was minimized, so we didn't turn it off, until we were home, continuing to add 1 quart every 150 miles. I called our mechanics at Pat's Precision Auto in Glendale, from Albuquerque, and told Jason of our circumstance. He provided a phone number, but the voice message said it would be "the next business day" to return the call. Pat's replaced the radiator, which had a hole in it, and the reservoir which also had a hole, "that next business day"! I'm glad we made it home and had the work done by Pat's Precision Auto.

Dec 05, 2016

Pats precision did my car right, I will bring it back for service in the future.

Dec 05, 2016

Took in Dodge Ram a/c was not cooling at idle. They diagnosed the problem the same day I dropped it off and provided a fair price to repair it. Work was done in a timely manner. Definitely recommend them.

Dec 05, 2015

A friend I trust highly recommended Pat's Precision Auto Care based on their honesty, reasonable prices and excellent service. From the moment I walked in the door, I had the same experience. Both Jason in the front office and Joey as the technician were professional and pleasant as they explained issues in language I understood, answered all my questions, and shared options with correlated consequences.

Dec 05, 2015

I took my vehicle in there because it was leaking fluids. Come to find out the other mechanic shop did not take the time to tighten the hoses. Not only did Pat's Precision take care of that, they also did a full check up on my vehicle. I will only use Pat's Precision and I highly recommend them to all of my friends.

Dec 05, 2015

A year ago, my car was having problems, my husband has been using Pat's for a couple years and trusts no one else. They started looking at my car and came and told us, "Do not get an oil change, dont put more gas in it, you need a new car because the work needed is not worth what the cars value is." We immediately looked for another vehicle and Pat's told us, "Bring us the prospecting vehicle and we'll look it over and let you know everything you need to know about it" That's exactly what we did! My husband's car is acting up and he has it at Pat's right now! Jason takes great care of customer's and the guys in the garage are extremely helpful, informative, and truly Care about us and what is best for us, not them! Thanks Guys, we're customer's for life!

Dec 05, 2015

Excellent place. Very professional, sociable and know what they are doing. They are not trying to sell or push extras. They will work with you. From having a family full of mechanics I can say they are honest and forthright.

Dec 05, 2015

I wouldn't go anywhere else. I'm 45min to an hour away from the shop but trust no other shop to work on my vehicles!

Dec 05, 2015

Like other reviewers, we have found a new auto care home! We were more than taken care of and we greatly appreciate the efforts of Jeff, Jason and Justin.

Dec 05, 2015

Pat's Precision Auto Care really does care!! The shop is clean and organized with some of the best mechanics I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. As we know dealing with car issues isn't fun or inexpensive. However Jeff & his crew made sure I was well taken care of from beginning to end. He beat the estimate from the shop down the road and threw in an oil change! They did all the brakes on my truck with a pair of rotors (that were really needed) for less than what CADI wanted for just the rear brakes. I had an airbag sensor code that a few other shops gave me the run around on.. Pat's knew exactly which one it was and fixed it too. I am a SUPER HAPPY SATISFIED CUSTOMER!!! Thanks a million Jeff!!
