Skip to the bottom for the overviews of the Review. I would like to share my recent experience as a new customer seeking custom modifications for my vehicle. My initial inquiry was regarding an air suspension system, but after further consultation with the knowledgeable technicians, I opted for a custom muffler, pipe, exhaust, and resonator delete. I was thoroughly impressed by the professionalism and expertise displayed by the technicians. Despite my limited knowledge of car culture and my numerous questions, they consistently provided insightful answers and examples. Their honesty, educational approach, and understanding of my requests were greatly appreciated. I was usually given an extra 30-45min just to explain or show examples of the pro and con or just answering my questions. I am typically very selective about who I allow to work on my vehicle. However, from the moment I entered their establishment to inquire about a basic estimate for my initial plan of installing air suspension, I never felt as though they were solely interested in acquiring my money. Furthermore, I was under significant time constraints, with only two weeks to complete a substantial amount of work. They collaborated with me and even worked (almost 2 hours past closing) overtime to ensure that my vehicle was completed on schedule. Additionally, whenever the project exceeded their initial projections, they would promptly contact me, either by phone or text message, to provide updates and seek my approval. And even discount the cost when I didn't even ask which help me alot and even lyft ride to and back. I was genuinely surprised by their willingness to go above and beyond in these seemingly minor aspects. These small gestures greatly contributed to my trust in their expertise and professionalism, ultimately leading me to confidently recommend their services to my friends and family. In conclusion, I am highly satisfied with the outcomes of their work and the reasonable costs incurred. I would definitely consider them again for future projects. I recently used Automotive Performance and Restoration for both of my cars. One needed A/C repairs and the other needed the thermostat replaced. The owner is so nice. They were very thorough, the repairs were done quickly and I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable they were. Plus they warranty their work. I'll definitely be using them from now on. They're also open on Saturdays, which is convenient for people who work during the week.

Recently brought in my 99 Silverado 1500 thinking I was in need of an entirely new transmission (what another shop told me) which would’ve costed me nearly $4000 upfront, after leaving my truck for a while they discovered that the transmission was completely fine and that the problem was not nearly as major as the previous shop made it out to be. I really appreciate the help and if you’re looking for an honest shop in Bakersfield, this is the place. Side note, they also installed some taillights I was having issues with and they look and work beautifully!

I was impressed with the kindness and hospitality with the shop the first day I came in. Right a way one of the owners got in my car and allowed me to drive him around so he could see what issues I needed addressed with my suspension. I was afraid that my car would be left on the back burner with all of the projects they have going on and because my car isn't vintage but they took their time to ensure quality work. If you want some quality work from quality mechanics that will correct issues with your car and make sure it's operating safely, this is the place to be. I've been looking for an honest and well trained mechanic for years in Bakersfield and I'm so glad I came to APR. You guys (and gal) have a life long customer!

Anyone looking for great quality repairs this place is it. I've known Alex for a couple of years, he's done work on my cars in the past and always does a great job. This guy knows his stuff, super professional and honest. I've had AC work on my car and most recently had a steering column and suspension issue and Alex found the issue right away and did the repair and came out perfect. Definitely would recommend this place to everyone.
