Wonderful, amazing service. The mechanic here charged me $40 for a job that a BMW specialty shop charged me almost $3000 to do. Honest, knowledgeable, and straightforward. Qualities that are hard to find at other shops, so I will definitely be coming back with my car in the future.

Just called for a quote. She stated that they aren’t able to provide a quote over the phone. That was fine. When I asked about next availability, I was told a date then hung up on. Won’t be going even if they do good work. Customer service SUCKS!

A place that feels like home and people who treat you like friends — it felt amazing to finally be taken care of by a shop, instead of taken advantage of! As a woman, this can be a difficult find. Never going anywhere else to get my car looked at or repaired.

I have been going to Automotive Specialty for the last 25 plus years. I cannot more highly recommend Jeff for his professionalism, quality of work, fair prices and willingness to help out his customers. He is a certified master tech, quality oriented and can fix damn near anything with 4 wheels and an engine. If you want it fixed right and done fairly and professionally goo see Jeff.

Amazing. They were the only place that could figure out why my F150 was getting weird vibration at 70 mph. Had two other mechanics and my tire shop look at it. Jeff kept my truck until he figured out it was a seized parking brake cable. He wouldn't give up until he fixed it. That is hard to find. Thank you!

My car recently overheated on the interstate, and I managed to drive it to the nearest auto shop, which happened to be Automotive Specialty. I'm a contractor from out of town, so I don't know the area well, and I didn't know anything about this company. Let me tell you folks, this place is the real deal! Jeff worked on my car when the shop was closed during a busy holiday weekend just to get me back on the road again. He knows his craft well, and the service he provides is exceptional. I wish there were more honest and hardworking places like this!

I've been here a few times and always have great service. My dealership couldn't figure out what was going on and it was taken care of here, the owner even looked into it and found out the part was under warranty. definite recommend! :)

Got my car inspection done here. The guy who worked on it (I suppose he's the owner of the shop.) was super friendly, and he didn't do that thing a lot of other shops do where they find problems your car doesn't really have. Very pleased with my experience and will be going back.

I've brought a succession of long-lived family cars to be serviced first by Ted and Betty and now by Jeff, over at least 25 years. Automotive Specialty is the perfect example of a high-quality small business. They are highly competent, up to speed on sophisticated engines and controls, prompt, honest, fairly priced, and proud of their work. On the rare problem they don't feel comfortable dealing with (e.g., a diesel turbo replacement) they say so up front. On the other hand, they have repeatedly bailed me out of problems that dealerships couldn't fix. I have never been dissatisfied with a piece of work they've done. I've recommended them to dozens of friends over the years and they all report the same satisfaction I feel. And the people there are as good and honest and decent as their work.

Automotive Specialty has been taking care of our two vehicles for about 8 years now. They are top-notch. Extremely knowledgeable, reasonably priced, highly trustworthy, and nice as can be. We were referred there by a friend when we first moved to Richmond and have referred many of our own friends since then. I really can't say enough good things about this place- highly recommend.

I've been going to Ted and Betty for years and have never dealt with a more far and trustworthy pair in my life! Not only have they given me great service, but great recommendations on service and cars - that is 100% accurate. Case in point - Ted gave me information about my Mercedes R350 that the dealer would have never shared (and didnt) that saved me over $6,000 and a new transmission. Thanks to Ted the dealer replaced my Tranny for $500 and the rest is history! Check it out!

If you're in need of any auto body repairs in The West End, this is the place to go. Keith goes the extra mile to make sure it's done right - he made the aftermarket bumper valance look as good as the original one that came on my 4Runner. The paint matched perfectly & any sign of the repair isn't noticeable.

I have been coming to Automotive Specialty for as long as I can remember. My whole family takes their cars here (that's 6 cars). I moved to the DC area about 10 years ago and still bring my car back down to Richmond for them to take care of my car. They always fit you in, they are honest, and do great work. I have had estimates at other places for close to a thousand dollars, and then bring here and they find the issue quickly and the cost was only $250. Whenever I call to ask about an issue with my car, they are friendly and so helpful. It's so hard to find a good and honest mechanic these days. I couldn't recommend a company more. If you live in the Richmond area, this is the place to go.
