Go to them. Do you need vehicle repairs? Go to them. Do need vehicle performance upgrades? Go to them? Do you want a mini cooper? Stop it. Buy a RAV-4.

Two years have passed, and I am still incredibly upset. Let me tell you, steer clear of this mechanic shop in Chicago. You won't find a place that cares less about you or your car. The owner seems to be a stay-at-home proprietor, and the business is run by employees who don’t care about the business they make a living from. I took my 2010 Prius there because it had a significant knocking problem. After a test drive, we deiced on replacing a new axle, a new engine mount. They charged me $1,200 for just one piece CV axle and one engine mount replacement. Without even checking the prices of the parts, they slapped on a flat $250 charge for each part, regardless of their actual cost. They hit me with a $750 labor charge, which is outrageous. They said it would take a few days to complete the work and required me to leave my car with them. I lived nearby, so I took daily walks to their parking lot to see if they had started working on my car. They didn’t touch it until the last day, working on it for just an hour before calling me to pick it up. When I picked up my car, the knocking noise was still there, and they even had the audacity to trash-talk my car. It was evident that something major was wrong, but they weren't capable of diagnosing, in fact they didn't seem to care. They wasted my money and my time. Being a driver, I have a dash cam. I checked my dash cam footage and discovered that the mechanics had taken my car out for their personal errands multiple times without my knowledge or permission—trips to UPS, McDonald's, and other places. Yet, they misdiagnosed the knocking sound. To add insult to injury, when I checked the prices of the parts at a local auto parts store, it was clear they had ripped me off. They not only disrespected me but also my car, probably because it was a hybrid Prius. Fast forward two years, I’ve moved to another city and took my car to a different mechanic shop for an oil change. What they found was shocking—the CV axle that was installed was loose! Can you believe that? Avoid this shop at all costs; they'll only take advantage of you and leave your car worse off than before. The staff, especially the bald guy who looks like he's in his 40s and deals with customers, is a smart ass. Do not do any business with him. The owner should fire him for the sake of the business.

I brought my car in because I heard a noise, I was told that the shocks I had just had replaced were failing. I had them replace my shocks and was hearing noise a week and half later. I took it to another mechanic and they said that I hadn’t even had the alignment that I had paid for. So I had another alignment done on my car, which did not fix the noise. Then AUTUTECH tells me that I should’ve had links replaced with the shocks. How would I know that? You’re the one who told me what parts to get so why wouldn’t you tell me to get the links if they had to be replaced. I talked to two different people and got many different stories throughout the conversations. I was told that a manager would call me and that did not happen. I was also told that , someone would talk with the manager and see if they could do something for me like possibly reimbursing me for the alignment that never happened. Haven’t heard a word. Once they have your money, they are done with you. It’s nothing but lies and deception. No thanks. Yes, I brought my own shocks because I had just put shocks on 3 months prior. That has nothing to do with this issue. Also a week and a half after you worked on my car all the noise started, but then guess what happened, someone hit my car in the rear right panel, I had to wait a week to give it to them hoping they could fix it. I had to get that fixed and those were the mechanics that said that the alignment was terrible. Also, I didn’t get my car back for two weeks. I brought it straight to you when I got it back from it getting fixed. I had to pay for a new alignment. Alignments don’t go bad within a week and a half or 700 miles. Why didn’t you ever call me? Why didn’t you tell me I would need links along with the new shocks? That’s on you and only you. You don’t keep your word. Classy and professional response. You should be ashamed.

*Edit* the shop called me after posting this review and offered an apology and a partial refund. It did show me they care to own up to their mistakes and being helpful to their customers. I've gone to them a couple of times. Their diagnostic price is way too high for the poor quality. This last time they didn't actually find the problem I described in detail. Instead gave me a list of things to fix that were pricey. I had them redo my brakes, they overfilled my brake fluid, which was causing damage to the brakes. There were codes on my car ECU that they didn't look at. I had another mechanic fix their mistakes and oversights for much cheaper. The customer service is very nice.

Always a great experience!!! I will not let anyone touch my car except for the guys at AutoTech Auto Repair. They listen to my concerns. They always made sure I was aware of the issues if any, and provided a resolution. They stand by their work, which you don’t see anymore. These guys are amazing I will forever be a loyal customer

Carlos, David and Tom you guys made my experience so wonderful. I came in due to hub bearing noises and was diagnosed with bad hub bearings and axle replacements. I’m so happy I came to AutoTech I had a great experience and it’s so convenient to be in the same neighborhood. Thank you so much once again my car runs like a BEAUTY!!

Expert dependable car maintenance/repair and excellent customer service! These guys always explain what my car needs and what issues may come up. As my Dodge Caravan ages, that is really important. They never talk down or oversell & are always friendly & accommodating no matter how busy.

Great service here at the AutoTech!! I had to take my car in for maintenance and Carlos Tom and David were super helpful and thorough when it came to explaining all the service being done. They printed and emailed an itemized receipt of all the safety and recommended service— I ended up only wanting the safety service today and they were very accommodating of that. I am a new car owner and feel more educated about my vehicle after going to Auto Tech! Thanks guys!

I don't ever leave reviews unless it is absolutely necessary. Auto Tech deserves a review from me! I have been a long time customer and have been satisfied every time I leave their shop. They are knowledgeable and honest. Auto Tech has taken care of my vehicles for many years as well as everyone who I've ever referred to them. To driving to my home to give me a jump to helping me put air in my tires! There isn't anything that this shop would not do for me! This is how much their customers mean to them! Thank you auto tech for always going above and beyond!

I went to AutoTech on a 'what's close with good reviews' emergency basis and I am so glad I found them. They were so much faster than I expected, very polite and kind to an out-of-towner, honest, and were willing to explain anything I was curious about. Plus, I don't know what they did exactly when they replaced the parts I needed, but my car is running even quieter/smoother than it was before. What really cinched it for me was the woman at the payment/keys counter. She stepped in for me when some guy behind me in line was being a bit of a creep and a jerk and made sure he moved on and didn't bother me. I will be going back any time I'm in Chicago and need anything and telling friends who are in the area.

Pretty sure they ripped me off. They replaced my coils and plugs at 15k miles to solve a stuttering start issue i had. Solved nothing. Cost me thousands.

Took my car in here because it was having some trouble starting up. They did the diagnostic and told me I needed a new battery and a new water pump. Suggested an oil change which I was admittedly overdue on. They tried to sell me new brakes and tires as well which is a hard sell to just throw in on the end of things and wasnt really related to the issue at hand. A month later now and my car is still having the issue. They replaced what they said they'd replace but I paid roughly 1300 to not have my problem actually solved and that's a price you think you wouldn't have to gamble on.

Did things I didn’t ask for. They knocked some $ off my bill as a result, but some of the repairs seem to have been performed cheaply or possibly not at all. Claimed that they replaced two tires, but they gave me old tires per a future inspection and repair. They blamed the “old guy on the phone” for some of the miscommunications that resulted in the adds. Won’t return here.

I absolutely love this place I came to them in a time of need and they did not mess me around at all they told me what was wrong with my car they even gave me a great price for the fixing of my car and I had a lot of stuff wrong with my car I would recommend these people a lot they are very understanding and helpfull Definitely we'll be visiting this place again and it's probably my number one mechanic in the Edgewater area/uptown area

I was ready to really like this shop given the reviews and was really disappointed in my experience. We took our Hyundai Sante Fe for a check up before going to our emissions test - long story short, we had to take the car back to them three times to fix a variety of issues (costing close to $4K) and... we still had to take it elsewhere to be fixed to meet the emissions requirements. Additionally, some of the work we were charged for appears to need to be redone. We were also double charged for a part. Perhaps it was a bad representation of their work but considering it took three tries to not fix our vehicle, I will not be going back.

Stop in late afternoon because my car was making a weird noise and I was going on a car trip. Meet Robert he immediately assisted me and explain what was going on. He went above and beyond to assure me the car was fine to drive. I will definitely use him to do all my repairs when I come back. Ivan also took the time to explain the best methods of keeping my car in the best running condition

This review is long overdue! Everyone at Auto Tech is amazing! They’ve been helping me take care of my classic cars and now my daily drivers for well over 20 years. Robert runs a tight ship and he and Tom know everything about cars. I have hit them with everything from blown engine and transmission to carburetor adjustment/tuning, A/C repair, the list is too long to name it all. My newest car is 2012 and my oldest is 1989 (but they’ve worked on cars as far back as 1967 for me). Tom explains how the mechanisms work and if the work needs to be done or if it can wait. They keep all of my cars in good running order, which explains why I don’t need a newer car! Carlos is amazing for follow-up and explaining what work they are doing and when it will be done. Truly, the entire team is great! Highly recommended!!

Trusted Mechanics from start to finish! My 2014 Mazda CX 5 was making a noise it shouldn’t and I was ready to go to Michigan with my family on vacation the next day. The team at Auto Tech replaced the rear shocks. Upon my return from vacation, I still had a slight noise. When I brought it back Carlos put it back on the lift and noticed something needed adjusting. Instead of just tightening it, he decided to replace the part at his cost. That is the sign of a trusted mechanic who knows his stuff. I can highly recommend the team at Auto Tech; Carlos, Robert and Tom. They do the right thing!
