I came to him for my check engine light he charged me 225.00 for diagnosis told me my both 02 sencers were bad charged me over 1,000.00 I paid cash to get a 60.00 reduced bill I paid a total 987.00 the job failed 3 times now he's telling me I'm using cheap gas and refusing to give my money back I'm going to stand outside his door every day it ended today with him calling the police on me this guy is a creap

AVI Auto is run by a sharp and experienced technician/owner. He worked for years on the Portland Fire Department Vehicles. He's now sought after by several PFD staff to maintain their personal vehicles. To me, this says it all. He talks quick and gets to the point. When the work is done, it's done right and by the book. His shop is NOT the cheapest place in town. It is, however, fairly priced for knowledgeable service done right.

If you own a vintage American vehicle consider going elsewhere. The owner is well-meaning, but his tone and demeanor was abrupt, firm and somewhat confrontational. He spent our first conversation trying to convince me how experienced he is at fixing older model equipment (bragged at length about repairing a Plymouth Barracuda…who cares!?)!; he made a point of showing me how clean his shop was and gloated about his community envolcement and other accolades. Very annoying. I chalked all of this up to insecurity and proceeded to hire him to fix the brakes on my old Chevrolet truck..mainly because of the convenient location.The owner turned the job around within a reasonable time frame for about an average fee, but the emergency brake would not disengage on my drive home from his shop. I figured some time was needed for break-in, but it never improved. About 2-3 weeks later, I drove to Vancouver for a quote on some unrelated body work and could barely make it home because the brakes were ON the entire way! You could smell the brake shoes burning as it drove. I was unable to exceed 35mph. The owner of the shop said to bring it back but became very defensive when I explained how dangerous of a position he put me in by releasing the truck to me without thoroughly road testing it again. There is no possible way the rig was properly road tested, and it’s possible he did not use OEM parts. Basically, the job was done poorly and incorrectly. He suggested I bring the truck back a second time, which I did. The problem was still unresolved after delivery! By now, I was tired of his non-stop defensive posturing, tone and lack of sensitivity to my situation. I truly believe I was put at risk. The truck was almost impossible to drive after he worked on it. I considered asking for a refund because I had to pay another mechanic to correct the issue. My main reason for the 2 stars and writing this is not so much because of the poor workmanship..hey, mistakes happen and during a pandemic, things are just different. The main issue for me was his attitude, and crummy customer service..

These guys are rip off, just a light bulb replacement they charged me USD$45. I had it fixed for USD$10 with a private mechanic. I never recommend them to anyone. They don't allow the owners to be around the vehicle while they work on it. More like robbers.

Hiep was up front and honest with me about the repair cost of my car. Told me before inspecting it and gave me recommendations, where other mechanics would have taken it in just to get some extra bucks, knowing my car was a lost cause. Extremely nice and knowledgeable. Will be going back for an inspection for the next car I buy.

Hiep was very helpful and very kind while he helped us with our vehicle. We were traveling across the country and in the position to be taken advantage of by a mechanic. Not here. He looked over the vehicle and determined the service light was on bc of a sensor that would take a long time to come in and wouldn't affect the safety of our trip. He didn't even charge us to look it over and gave my son a small bag of candy. He explained everything clearly and was so pleasant to work with.

I called in to ask if they could run some tests on my fiance's car. Guy who answered the phone was very rude. Instead of listening to what I already knew about the vehicle he gave me a lecture about how I should stop watching YouTube and let mechanics do their job.

I paid$650 for a driverside alex replacement with aftermark parts. and I was the mail carrier for him the last 9years and also I was intoduced over there by a friend which highlight auto boy shop. So please think about before to put your car there

Came in for squeaky brakes on a stock 2008 ford ranger. I was charged $900 for new brakes, rotors and calipers. My brakes still squeak and this is after returning to heip's shop 4 separate times post-repair still complaining of the noise. This is my company vehicle (I own a small business) and it is absolutely embarrassing every red light and stop sign I come up to. I have shown him videos that clearly showed what noises I was complaining about... after this much run around, I am now forced to take it to another shop, pay them and hope they can fix my issue. I would steer clear of AVI automotive.

Great shop overall. Owner (named Hiep) is experienced, knowledgeable, and honest! This is not a low quality, quick lube place, so don't bother going if you only want fast and poor quality workmanship. It is the kind of shop that is thorough and takes enough time to do proper work efficiently. Prices are fair and honest. You really don't need a coupon to get a fair deal and the work will be done well on almost any make or model of vehicle. Very impressive!

Worst experience ever got charge 45 dollers just to get my car checked hiep talking about it's halve price witch he normally charges 80 trying charge me 1k plus for work when I took it some where else it had a different problem from I was told and got charge less for what he was trying charge me wouldn't recommend to any one I know!

Hep at AVI auto is great! He takes the time to assess what kind of service your car really needs. I was referred to him by my father-in-law and I haven't been disappointed. He gives great advice on when to get a certain kind of service and when you're better off saving your money.

My wife and I have found AVI automotive to be always professional and thorough. Hiep is an accomplished mechanic and when he does hire help, he is careful to only bring on the best. Disregard those whining about "coupons"... Things didn't go exactly as they'd planned and now they want to hurt the business. But, for trustworthy, thorough work on your car at a rate that is reasonable, you can't go wrong with Hiep and AVI.

Only bring your car/truck in if you care about getting your work done right and NOT getting lured into work you don't need. This shop shoots straight. They maybe not be some fast-ass oil change place, but that is not what you should be coming here for.

AVI was recommended to me by a long-time fleet-type customer, and I think I've found my "mechanic guy" for life in Heip. About a year ago, he couldn't find anything "wrong" (but i had been running my car without coolant, my fault) and he didn't find something to fix and charge me for, which i appreciate. I instead got an expert oil change and look-see, drive tests, pressure tests and a suddenly perfect running car for under $100 and less than a 6 hour turn around time. Recently, I called around 8:30am, dropped off at 9am, diagnostic within 45 minutes, finished car within hours. What I paid was fair, and the turn around time and trust is worth double what i paid. (Heip- this doesn't mean to raise prices!!)

Reading the other reviews, this is not the place to get your oil changed with a coupon. I wouldn't know, I haven't done that. But if your car needs to be fixed, I strongly recommend AVI. I've done three repairs with them. Each time, I felt like they were honest and reasonably priced. The owner seems interested in fixing the car, rather than just buying an expensive replacement part. One time we got a quote at the Ford dealer's service department on 122nd for $500, and AVI fixed us up for less than half that. They're busy, but why would you want to take your car to a repair place that isn't?

The manager (an older Asian man) was incredibly rude to me when I came in and asked about getting an oil change. He berated me for not making an appointment and, when I tried to schedule one, he told me they wouldn't be able to do it for a full month. I'd take my business somewhere else.

Purchased Super Saver Auto Care club/coupons. Over a month booked out so book your next appt as soon as you get one. They need your car ALL DAY for an oil change. They say this is due to the overwhelming demand from the coupons, well, get more people, cycle more customers through. Its overall a HUGE bummer. Not very flexible, communication breakdowns. Now I have a unusable sheet of coupons. PLUS they are not transferable (2nd car in household) you can only use them on one car. LAME
