11/27/24 Update: Unfortunately, my experience with Big O Tires in Hillview has not improved. Despite a court judgment in my favor on 11/13/24, ordering Big O to pay $1,281.83 (including court costs) for faulty service, to date they have been unresponsive and have yet to comply. Additionally, I incurred $542.79 in further costs to correct their negligent work, which involved over-torqued bolts, a stripped hole, and a cracked valve cover—all documented by Barnes Auto Service. I've now filed a formal complaint with the Kentucky Attorney General's office due to their ongoing refusal to take responsibility. This experience reflects a pattern, as seen in their "F" BBB rating. Proceed with caution. Do not entrust your car—or your finances—to them. I will continue to update this review with new developments. Update as of 11/14/24: On Wednesday, 11/13, I attended small claims court regarding my case against Big O in Hillview. The judge ruled in my favor, giving Big O 30 days to pay me. That afternoon, the Hillview Big O manager contacted me, asking me to sign a liability release in order to receive payment. I politely declined, as I believe the potential damage to the vehicle from oil loss remains a concern. Earlier in court, I disclosed that the manager had reached out two days before the court date, offering a refund greater than the amount I requested—but only to my Big O card and contingent on signing a DocuSign release of liability. I explained that I was not comfortable with those terms. I only wanted the amount I was seeking, in the form of a check, without releasing them from liability. No email was received until I was already on my way to court. The email stipulates the liability release I had already objected to. The saga continues, but the judge’s decision in my favor is a positive step. The Hillview Big O could have resolved this weeks ago by admitting their mistake, making amends, and retaining a longtime customer. Sadly, that opportunity has passed. My hope is that Hillview Big O will comply with the court's clear instructions, avoiding any need for me to seek further action with added interest. I’ll continue to update this review with any new developments. Original review: I took my 2013 Sonic to Big O in Hillview due to an antifreeze smell and to get the brakes checked. They tightened a loose clamp but said the valve cover gasket was leaking and should be replaced to avoid oil mixing with coolant—a claim every knowledgeable mechanic I’ve spoken to since has laughed at. Not being a mechanic myself, I trusted Big O’s expertise and agreed to the repair. Soon after, I noticed an oil smell that persisted through multiple follow-ups, including a re-torquing of the gasket. Yet, the issue only worsened. After additional delays and no real solutions from Big O, my car began knocking and emitting white smoke from the exhaust while my wife was driving. Big O claimed this breakdown was unrelated to their work. The Hillview regional manager (if that is incorrect, he is someone I was told oversees several Big O stores) refused to address the valve cover replacement cost or cover repair costs at a different shop, despite my documentation and clear signs of their faulty work. He insisted the problem wasn’t their fault. His dismissive attitude added to my frustration. Fortunately, I brought my car to a reputable service garage in Louisville, where they confirmed a faulty valve cover gasket and installation by Big O. They also discovered worn brakes, which Big O had claimed were fine. My interactions with Big O's indifferent management were frustrating. A full description would exceed the space of this review, but if Big O responds here with an insincere apology or an attempt to discredit my words, know that every word I’ve shared is true. I would not recommend Hillview Big O due to their lack of accountability and dismissive attitude. Their “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau reflects my experience accurately.

I asked Dalton to do an oil change, rotate the tires and check other things to make sure my vehicle would be dependable and safe to drive. There were a few things that needed replacing. These things were taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. The car has been running much better.

We just went in to schedule to replace 4 tires next week, they got us in and out in 30 minutes and did it same day! Jackson was extremely helpful helping us pick tires and Dalton was just as helpful checking us out! It is always a great customer service experience in this store and I won’t go anywhere else.

These people only respond to negative reviews. I have been waiting weeks for a refund on inferior radiator work on my car. If you have major issues with your car do not take it here. Go anywhere else where they are honest and know what they are doing.

I've had two different good experiences @ this location, first time was a slow leak in my Tires that had been a problem for a few years and they fixed it when two other Big O's couldn't, Shelbyville and Middletown. Second experience they flushed my Cooling System. Really happy with both experiences...

This place is great!! The manager Larry was super sweet in introducing himself after I asked about their oil change prices because I was pleasantly surprised at how cheap the price was compared to what I’m used to paying. I was in and out and everyone was friendly fast and efficient!! This is now my go to spot for oil changes.
