Dave and his team at Black Rock have been working on all our vehicles (Toyota, Acura, BMW) for the past 12+ years. It's the best local small shop around, by far. They are fair, extremely knowledgeable, are very competent, and offer great customer service!

I've been coming to see Dave (owner) at Black Rock Auto, since 2001 and he's a scientist, artist, cat and dog shop lover, knows engineering of all things cars and is pragmatic about applied automotive science and auto tech. Never upsells and always transparent about why he wants to do the repairs your car needs, or you can wait on. Integrity is what you want in a mechanic and I feel Dave and the other Black Rock staff and mechanics, definitely rock/are exceptionally committed to what they do. Like a close family member once stated, "I like to go the extra mile, it's never crowded on the extra mile"- I feel this is what BRA/Black Rock Auto is all about.

Found this shop via Reddit. Called to ask about a head gasket replacement for a Subaru. I asked if they have experience working in Subarus. The guy (Dave) said, why don’t you check Google and Reddit. I tried explain Reddit and Google don’t talk about Subarus and Dave hung up on me. Either they don’t want the business or I offended him…? Going somewhere else 🙂 I’d give one star but they at least pick up the phone.

I thiught the experience was effortless. David kept me abreast of the whole process and was honest too. He gave me what needed attention and what could be held off. I was surprised with the extra touch of washing and buffing out some scratches that meant alot. Great job!

Black Rock Auto exceeded my expectations! I had heard great things about them, so I decided to give them a try after a frustrating and expensive experience at the Jeep service center. Dave took my car in right away, and he was very communicative and transparent throughout the entire process. I really appreciated the text and email updates, as well as the online portal they used to share photos and notes of their VERY comprehensive inspection and assessment of all my vehicle's components. They prioritized the repairs, and I never felt pressured to get unnecessary work done. I also appreciated getting back on the road quickly. I highly recommend Black Rock Auto! Thanks, guys!

These guys really know their stuff. I've been going here for years and I've never left there with a mystery. Their communication is excellent. All my question are answered thoroughly and they are always willing to show you your car and what is going on with it. Plus shop cats and dogs make it welcoming!

I heard about Black Rock Automotive via their ad on Capital Public Radio. After years of using a Toyota dealership for service, I decided to try Black Rock and was very impressed. They really seem to know what they are doing, and the services they provided were completed quickly. My 12-year-old Toyota Prius is now running like new.

I am very happy with the work done here at Black Rock Auto. My car had failed three smog checks before it was serviced by Black Rock. It runs better than ever now and passed the smog test. I also had a loaner car provided to me while the work was done, I highly recommend Black Rock and will bring my car back for all maintenance and any needed repairs in the future,

Happy first-time customer and coming back. Dave, Rich, John and team made me feel welcome, addressed my concerns, went the extra mile, and finished the job blazingly fast. Recently reached 100k miles on 2010 Jetta. They performed 85 pt inspection, diagnosed and fixed air injection system error, replaced shocks/struts/mounts/links, flushed brake/clutch fluids, and more. Sacramento is lucky to have this establishment.

Dave and the crew were great. They got me in and diagnosed my issues quickly. The online diagnostic report of my 85 point inspection was amazing and broke down all my vehicles problems and even included photos of the problem areas on my vehicle, not just a generic image. I’ll be bringing all the business I can back to black rock auto. These guys are great. Had my car back in for service and once again, David was great and got me up and going in no time. Even got me a loaner so I could get my errands for the day finished. Always great service here.

First time in the shop, Dave and his team are super thorough and got a ton of work done on my car in a single day. Feels brand new, the car is going to be driven by a new driver and after their inspection I feel confident that he will be safe and the car is mechanically sound. Dave kept in touch through the day and the pictures of the work performed is greatly appreciated. Will definitely be bringing my other vehicles here!

Several issues addressed: Twice had to test new brakes hard and they worked; Engine no longer stalls on rapid stops; Not hearing exhaust leak any more; Car just passed smog check.

This shop is one word AMAZING! Brought my Tesla in for a quick service, they provided me with the best service! Keep me updated along the way until my vehicle was ready. Dave and the crew are the most honest people you’ll come across in the 916 area. Good people!! I would recommend this shop to all my friends and family!
