Appointments not are accepted. I showed up before opening on a Saturday morning. I waited more than a half hour past opening time in line behind a young couple who were returning their vehicle because their AC stopped working after Buddy's "repaired" it. I decided to cut my losses and took my car to another shop that morning. All's well that ends well. Update reply to John: Check your messages. Saturday, September 21, 2024. If you don't open your shop on time and waste a walk-in customer's time, you get a one star review. That's the way it works.

First off, I’d like to say John is a top notch mechanic. For the most part anyways. I started doing business with him in 2020 And even though he was a pain in the butt when it comes to getting into his shop (he is a busy guy), I would try to work around his schedule. Anytime after 2 pm. He did a good job for me. Until recently. I had him fix an emissions problem for me on my wife’s rig.. The part he installed failed 6 months later. I was on the road at the time and just went ahead and replaced the part myself. When I got back to town and had some time after 2pm to get back, he shrugged it off and that was that. Even though the part was “under warranty”. I was only out $25.00, so no big deal. I have what I call my “Click and Clack” vehicle. My beater. It had some transmission problems. I left it with him to diagnose. He called me back and stated it needed a new filter and I agreed to have him replace the filter. When I picked it up, he mentioned that it was really low on fluid. I asked him if he had fixed the issue and he assured me he had. The transmission used a lot from that time on. I don’t drive it much so it wasn’t like I was without a vehicle. I finally found time, after 2 pm, to take it back to him. That was when I saw his temper. We got into an argument and he lost it. Was yelling at me about something that wasn’t relevant to the issue at hand. He told me he no longer wanted my beater in his shop. Then he kind of settled down, but at the time I lost my trust in his judgement and decided every mechanic has a shelf life. Apparently he had hit his. I know he reads his reviews, so that is why I write this one. I’m sure he doesn’t need my business, like I said he is always busy. But he’s not the only mechanic in Tucson, so I guess it goes both ways. In my opinion he should be ashamed, but judging by his customer service, I’m guessing he has little or no shame. For that alone, I would no longer recommend him.

Bad customer service. I tried to talk to someone about a job and I never got through. All I got was a text back saying can’t talk can text what do you need and never was replied to.

Best mechanic experience! Walked in and it only took an hour to make my Air Conditioning blow nice and cold! They let me stand around and watch and they explained as they were going and showed me the bad part, slapped a new one in. Friendly people! Reasonable pricing too!

Buddy’s replaced my compressor and got my AC going in NO TIME. Fast, friendly, and honest. Hard to find an honest mechanic anymore. Any future car maintenance will be done here.

Fast and easy repair of Subaru AC system. This is not to mention Tucson Subaru wanted to charge me over $700 to fix something John fixed for a small fraction of this price and in less than 30 minutes too!

First, the shop is beautiful! Very clean for being a mechanic shop, fun car decor, and it smelled amazing (random but I want to know what they use)! AJ helped me- he gave me a free look at my ac and debunked another shop's diagnoses and fixed the problem right there at a great price. I also loved that he talked with me about the problem without any judgement or hold back because I'm not car-versed and was very friendly! It is a small operation but they do most every repair except oil changes, which is so they can focus on the bigger repairs but they will do it while fixing other things for you (gotta prioritize) Overall, I will be going there for any problems that I have for as long as I live here

I was not impressed, took my car because the AC had a leak. They told me to go put some UV stuff in it and bring it back to them. Shouldn't they have that stuff there? I understand about not using the machine and possible damage. I didn't understand why you couldn't put the UV detector in, find the leak and fix it. And your customer relations sucks. Update: Took it to another shop, they did what you should have. Vacuumed it and serviced it with UV. Found the leak. Fixed now.

Update: I had issues with my AC. Buddy's didn't give up on finding the issue. My fuse box kept blowing and he was able to re-wire the compressor to its own fuse box. I haven't had any issues since this was fixed last year in the summer. I recommended him to my mother whose AC lines was freezing over in Arizona - he was able to tell her what's going on and had her in and out. John is very knowledgeable and I appreciate him for fixing this issue for me.

Best AC diagnostic you can ask for. John had me in and out with a solution FREE of Charge. He is very honest and knows his stuff. Thank you John, I’ll see you for my next car issue! Update: The car has freeezing cold AC now. After I switched the fuse box and still had issues I found a broken wire hidden inside the sleeve. Right next to where John pointed out where the wire was not getting power. Im so glad he helped me because Hyndai wanted to put in a new compressor over a sub $1 fix

Buddy saved me! BrakeMax wanted to replace my entire AC system for $3000. Buddy found a little valve that was broken and it was only a few hundred dollars. Amazing!

Buddy’s is fantastic. I had a small fender bender, and my AC stopped blowing cold air. The guys at Buddy’s looked at it right away — no wait at all — and gave me a very reasonable FREE estimate. They said they could have all the parts in two days. I ended up having to go somewhere else because of my insurance coverage, but I will definitely take my next repair to buddy’s. Also a very clean shop. Highly recommend.

My husband went here today to see about our AC. It was making an odd sound and blowing hot air. Buddy had the issue fixed within an hour and the bill was $100. We are beyond thankful and so happy we found this place!

Took my truck in thinking I need a air compressor for my ac that cost $800. And buddy said no it was just a flap that was stuck and it normal for the year of my truck. He fix it and I was on my way with the coldest ac ever. Thank you buddy auto.

Found this shop on yelp and went because of the reviews. I went in because I was told my compressor needed replacing. John looked at it and ran tests, and wouldn’t you know it-the previous place lied to me. I now have cold a/c blowing and everything works without having to replace the compressor. This guy knows his stuff and isn’t out to rip you off. He has now earned my business for my vehicles. Do check his hours as it’s not a normal 9-5 Monday thru Friday shop. Highly recommend this place!!

I went in today to have my ac looked at. I had been to other places and had been told it was the air compressor, but he checked it out and serviced it and now I have cold ac working! He is also very nice and knowledgeable.

Where do I start? This guy is fabulous! He goes above and beyond in every aspect of car maintenance, repair, and service. His knowledge of engines excels all expectations... His thoroughness and sensibility while servicing the car , allows even more confidence when driving the car off his property. If you combine all those facts, and then add kindness and fairness to the equation, I just don't know that you can find a better mechanic in town. Thanks John..

John is a very experienced mechanic. He quickly identified the issue with my old Camry's AC in just a few minutes and then fixed it in under an hour. He is straightforward in explaining the problem and the cost. You can call him beforehand, but he doesn't take appointments; just bring your car by. Overall, he is highly experienced and offers fair pricing. I'll definitely be returning for future repairs.

Excellent service! It’s first come, first served, please remember that. Take your car there and he will get to it. Buddy is honest and very competent. I asked about our vehicle blowing warm a/c. He recharged the system and found the compressor disconnected, may had been done inadvertently in a previous repair, Regardless, Buddy quickly diagnosed and resolved the issue for a very reasonable price. His shop has lots of old-time automotive memorabilia that’s fun to browse while waiting on your vehicle. TO THOSE WHO CALL AND DON’T GET AN ANSWER: it’s a one man shop and he has repairs to work all day long. It’s better to just go there. Thank you.

I went here to get my A/C recharged about three months ago. The freon began leaking out because he did not change the charging ports. Had to go Garringan's Auto Repair Shop, since Buddy's would not make an appointment for me. I would avoid this shop.

Thank god I miss my appointment. I took my 2015 Chevy Malibu for A/C repair diagnostic was that I needed a new compressor. Shop ordered a remanufactured one from Orilley for $550 and me being skeptic about it went online found an Original manufactured brand new not refurbished for $320. So I ordered it took it to the shop and the guy gave me a temper tantrum about missing my appointment also said he does not put on parts that customers bring in. So after this I called another shop to take my car in and turned out that the A/C compressor in the car was good the clutch was the problem got it replaced parts and labor $400. Buddys was going to charge me $920 parts and labor. Thanks for not doing business with Buddys I saved myself $500 This was my experience with this shop Be aware some shops want to sell you parts you don’t need

came in on wednesday (may 24th) on my lunch break and he squeezed me in while working on other cars to check my A/C on my ford escape, he did a diagnostic and then a A/C recharge (every where I called told me it woulold be $50 for the diagnostic on top of whatever needed to be worked on.) and realized afterwarrds that I needed a new compressor. Did not charge me a penny for that day! told me to come back on Friday and he wouuld have it done for me before I got off work. I Droppedd my car off friday at 1:30, he was finished at 7. The car was blowing ice cold A/C! He was honest and fast and patient with me! Would highly reccommend and will definitely be back for future needs!

John diagnosed a tricky problem with my Chev 2500 Silverado and ordered and replaced the a/c compressor in record time with a 2 year warranty on labor and lifetime on the compressor. Cannot be beaten !!

John is a great guy and excellent master mechanic. He is trustworthy and very fair in pricing. He has saved people $1,000s, me included. He is very busy and for good reason cause he's well worth it. It's hard to find shops that are honest up front, and that's what you get at Buddy's Auto and Diagnostic.
