I'm so happy to have found this auto shop! My car was shaking and making strange noises, and I went to several shops that couldn't figure out the root of the issue. When I brought my car here, they quickly addressed my issue and promptly repaired it at a reasonable price. Highly recommend!

-*Moved over to East County and I will still only bring my car here. They are the most honest, affordable and helpful place I have ever been to. And as a person with zero car knowledge, I am always amazed at how they never push repairs on me or work on anything not needed. They will always have my service! I am so glad I found this place! Since I live very close, many of my neighbors in my apartment complex have been going here. They have been pushing me to go here for months, and when Smittys closed for weekends, I knew it was time to give this crew a try. This is now my new go-to for all car related things! Steve and the team were so quick to look at my car and give me suggestions- they even came up with a plan for replacing my back brakes the next time I do an oil Change with them, since I didn’t need new ones right away. They are so honest, helpful, and well-priced…I will definitely be a regular customer (we always hope not too regular though, right?)

Steve is the best. If you come here, you can expect truthfulness and honesty. He will not add on unnecessary things or rip you off - even if you are someone who doesn’t know anything about cars. Been coming here for years. 10/10 recommend

Twice, I've gone to Car Diego to avoid the extremely high prices quoted by the dealer. The dealer was trying to add on extra unnecessary services that cost a lot more, and recently they actually misdiagnosed an issue. I took my Mazda to Car Diego with the diagnosis from the dealer and they found a completely different electrical issue. They're very trustworthy, kind, and reasonably priced. I will never take my car to the dealer again!

WATCH OUT, CAR DIEGO AUTO REPAIR IS DELETING REVIEWS!!!! I POSTED THE REVIEW BELOW ON YELP BUT THEY DELETED IT: IF I COULD WRITE O STARS, I WOULD!! I had came here as a reference from my friend. Told them that I needed a new timing belt. The mechanic I was talking to seemed friendly, but something about him struck me as disingenuous . Same with some of the other mechanics. They quoted me a decent price, average price for a timing belt, which is pricey, and I said ok. They said it would take a couple of days and I agreed. I come to drop off my car, pregnant at the time, and had to find my way back home which I knew already. Someone who was also there graciously offered me a ride back home. I come back taking the bus, and thank the gentlemen for the work on my car. The same morning, I drive to the grocery store, and my car stalls. My car is an automatic mind you and I have NEVER had this issue before, I was quite startled. I turn it back on again, and it does the same thing all the way to the grocery store and back about 2/3 more times. I then decide to contact Cardiego as I know forsure it was a result of their work because prior I have never had this issue. I take it back to them and they say usually it costs money to check out the issue(which I thought was ridiculous considering they had just done work to my car) but he would check it out for free. He then comes back to me and say it's a different issue and that it would cost me about $500 to fix. Mind you I just paid about $600/700 to fix my timing belt. I tell him I need some time to think about it and I go back home (because I knew something was off.) I look online and read that if the timing belt was just done, then it could be possible that the timing was off. I tell the guy who referenced me about the issue and he's pretty concerned too and he comes back with me and I tell the guy at cardiego that I read about it and that it could be the timing was off. He AUTOMATICALLY shrugs off the idea and says he'll take a another look at it. He comes back and says it's now a different issue and it would cost about $250 to fix. I tell him no thanks and I leave. At this point I'm positive that hes ripping me off and my mind is set on not coming back. A little later down the road, I go to another mechanic from a close family friend and he says he'll take a look. He had my car for about a day and when I pick it up he told me he had looked and it was the TIMING BELT. HE TOLD ME THE TIMING WAS OFF. He had fixed it and I paid for his service and parts (which was still less than at Cardiego) and what do you know? My car works perfect! NO MORE STALLING. In conclusion, DO NOT COME HERE, and if you do, COME HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. These guys ripped off a woman they knew was pregnant, with no remorse. If I could go back in time I would demand a full refund or sue them honestly.

These guys were fast, honest, and even gave me a bonus service! They didn’t hassle me with a bunch of unnecessary upsells, or additional services that I wasn’t asking for. They just correctly diagnosed my wheel bearing issue and had it fixed within 24hrs. They just did as asked (& a little extra for free). Can’t tell you how much I appreciate that from an auto mechanic. So hard to find an honest mechanic these days. They won a loyal customer today. I will always take my Vehicle here! Nice job Steve!

This place looks small and you might miss it if you're not looking for it, but this place is where you need to go for your car's needs service. Friendly service, honest and will let you know what needs to be done next and when it should be done. The first time I came in was because I failed my smog inspection. So oxygen sensor needed replacing. After calling around, knowing what needed to be done, they still had to inspect. Most all places were $100 to $150. Told them ok, but does that amount get applied to the repair service that used to be the norm in auto repair industry,, since you already know what's wrong and the area was disassembled...nope. That will be on top of the repair itself, 2 separate things I was told. Thank you Smittys on Adam's Ave auto repair, (never a good work or reasonably priced experience with thoes guys) never have to go to you again. I called CarDiego, since I live on Adam's as well. They had an opening, do apply inspection as part of the service and do smog inspection. I found out the place that did my inspection, no pass no pay or no pass, pay and free retest, nope. Pay $50 again to test. Steve n the guys did it for $20 after doing the repair, but my car had to be driven a certain speed for a certain amount of miles for it to register in the sensor. Since my tags expired since a last minute laged, Steve showed me how to get extension till the sensor kicked in. It took a few times for me to drive b4 it kicked in, even going to the shop 3 times for them to test it, never charging me once for the sensor test, were so cool about getting it up to snuff. Finally everything synced up and my bill was given up. Ridiculously fair priced, possibly a bit too low I even questioned it. Nope it was correct he told me. Since then I have been 3 times. Oil change. Then for leaking coolant and oil, they fixed it, fast and more that reasonably priced! I left them my key and since I would be at work when it was done I asked if the could send the price to me and just pay on my debit card and leave my car on the street so I could pick it up w my key since I needed my car in the A.M. Done and done and done. They even held my spare key until I picked it up over a month later. Awesome. My last visit this past week, I called on Thursday, my day off in the morning, asked for availability for a tune up that day since I was doing a road trip in a few days. They let me know there was no availability at the time but would call if something opened up. Noon Steve calls and just says have your car here at 3pm I did, and by 430it was ready to go. What amazing service! When I went to get my car and pay all I can say w every mechanic and shop I have used throughout the years , this bill was the least expensive of any oil ever had. I can't tell you how much but sufficed to say they did me a extremely kind solid. Truly the best experience every time. I have praised them before on social media cause that's how awesome they are. Local and make you feel as if your a friend or neighbor. Honest , reliable, nice, legit, and fully transparent with what was done and what needs doing next. Trust me, I was lucky I called them. There are few around like this today. This is obviously the longest review I have written. I'm doing this on Father's Day Sunday because I feel so strongly about the staff and how they treat their clientele and cars. Message me if you go and don't feel the same. New my Audi was $45,000.00, that's how much I trust these guys and now, only these guys to handle her. Update 11-21-22 Still awesome!!!!!

Steve helped me with my Mercedes GLE43 AMG model. He was very honest and upfront with everything. My battery kept dying over night and he did some excellent diagnostic work to pinpoint the issue. Unfortunately, the problem can only be resolved by Mercedes due to patenting issues with the wiring. Steve didn't try to gloss over anything, did not try to gauge me with BS charges, and was just refreshing to work with. I'll be sure taking my Mercedes to Car Diego in the future for any of my car's needs. This place does business right.

This place looks like honest people but is a very bad place to take your car these people rained my wife's Audi did not know what thay were doing easy fix at dealership fan control module broken harness and left un mounted wires pinched between frame rail never seen so bad if a job

🙌🏽 honest work, he ain’t gonna lie to you I came in with an AC problem in my 2009 Nissan murano. Steve assured me that he would be able to see the vehicle same day and tell me what could be done. After his inspection he let me know what was going on and exactly how long it would take to get it done. He gave me different options to follow as well in case I couldn’t follow the game plan given. As my vehicle was being fixed I witnessed Steve interact with many other clients and the manner in which he carried himself as well as how he spoke to each of them was honest and straight to the point. Service has a one year Guarantee and I highly recommended his service 👍🏽

I knew the brakes on my car were close to wearing out, brought the car to Car Diego and told them I wanted the brakes replaced. After an inspection they called and told me that the front brakes needed replacement, but the rear brakes were still good. They could have done front and back and I would have never known the difference, but they saved me a lot of money by being honest and only replacing what needed replacement.

I took my car here to get my power steering replaced a while back and had a good experience. More recently, I had repairs done for a fender bender accident. My car came out of the shop looking good as new. A couple weeks later, my car was in another accident. Although it was embarrassing to have to call Steve and tell him all his hard work had been undone, he’s the only one I trusted to do the job. So my car is back there now, in good hands. All that to say that Car Diego deserves a 5 star rating for thorough, personable and honest service.

Steve is absolutely amazing as is his crew. Multiple times we have stopped by or called with some car issue and Steve is just the most wonderful guy about helping us out. He’s an honest really hard-working guy and we are so honored to have him in the neighborhood. Although I hate to see that he’s going to get so busy we have trouble getting in but he deserves an excellent review and your business. Yay for the small business and trustworthy and skilled owner.
