I have been on a mission to get my VW Golf TDI emissions up to standard. Catalpa has been the only shop that could speak & work intelligently on my car. I’ve been using Catalpa for decades regarding my 2001 bmw E 46 330 Ci Convertible. The company was purchased by talented new owners a few years ago. They are professional and do excellent work and stand behind their guarantees. My car has 175,000 miles but runs great thanks to their care! If you have a bmw or mini cooper they’re the place to go in Santa Cruz.

The staff at catalpa are very professional. I had an issue trying to get a smog check on my old BMW they did Diagnostics on it and figured out why it wouldn't pass and made it so that it would pass and they didn't charge a lot of money to do it I highly recommend them Vic and staff are the right ones to see.

I had an appointment - car was taken in immediately and oil change and one part installed and the system checked and tire pressure topped off and system reset - all very pleasant while I read my book in the comfortable waiting room. I have been a customer for many years under former and present ownership.

2 stars instead of 1 because the guys were cool. This was almost a year ago but I’m just getting around to writing it now. Catalpa gave me a quote for a brand new ecu and coding, around $2700, when the issue was a single vanos solenoid ($150 max and 10 minutes of labor) which another shop completed for me. This situation could’ve been a lot worse, meaning, I would’ve lost almost $3k and still not fixed the issue. To ensure this review is not removed, I’ll attach a picture showing that the quote is in my name. Catalpa has very good reviews and I’m sure that they are all for very good reason, I am just documenting my specific experience.

Excellent service: timely work, reasonable cost, knowledgeable staff, courteous owner. They identified and fixed a mysterious problem with my BMW that my (previous) mechanic could not on two prior attempts. Highly recommend!

I paid $1300 for a radiator replacement when the radiator icon came on. After repair was made, icon kept coming on. Returned car to shop today was told that air sometimes gets trapped in the system and it “ burps “ out at times causing the icon to light up. I was assured that the radiator did indeed need to be replaced. But for the icon to light up after the service was performed made me suspicious…. The gentleman at the desk was very polite in explaining what had happened.

I took my 2012 Dodge Challenger here to have some headers installed after market modification. Anyway, they did a great job. I asked them to do a inspection and they did the most thorough inspection. I've ever had done in any of my cars. I will be bringing my car to them for future repairs, etc
