I’ve been several times, mostly for routine maintenance. I also got the car detailed one time (it was spotless!). They’re always friendly, transparent, and honest. Pricing is very reasonable and they do great work. Takes the anxiety out of car maintenance to know I can go to this place near my house and skip the dealership. As other reviews mention, the waiting room is also very comfortable and welcoming. I’ve never felt pressured to do unnecessary work. When I got an inspection, they sent a recommendation of issues to fix with documentation to review on my own time, removing the pressure of deciding in real time. If you’re thinking about making the jump from overpriced dealer maintenance once out of warranty, this is a great option!

Great customer service!!! They did a great job to find to find the problem wrong with my car quickly and efficiently and the repairs were done very fast!!! I highly recommend this auto shop for anybody who is looking for repairs on their vehicle.

Chicago Auto Repair is the absolute best. I've taken my car to this place a few times now and is always incredibly thorough and helpful when I need a repair. I have never felt taken advantage of, They lay it out to you straight. Highly recommend!

They did an excellent job inspecting my vehicle, and I appreciate the itemized and detailed breakdown of all the work needed. Checking their prices on OEM parts as well as labor duration estimates, and everything aligned as one would expect. So the transparency and honesty is very refreshing. They also managed to handle all things my vehicle needed in about a day after approving the repairs, and the work is noticeable as my vehicle drives excellent. Thanks for the good work!

Thought we found an honest mechanic, have used them several times. Brought in our car with a tire sensor turned on. They did a full inspection of the car. They fixed the problem, replaced the tires, fixed alignment, etc. But when we picked up the car the sensor was now broken. This was not listed in the original inspection so seems like something broke since we dropped off the car. Gave us some excuse that the sensor was broken before we brought it in, even though they didn’t include that in the full inspection. To be rude about something so small, when we’ve spent thousands in the past, leads me to believe they’re a dishonest company.

Just visiting our son and we knew he needed some key maintenance things done to his car. Not knowing the area, I just looked at reviews and Chicago Auto Repair had many positive comments. So I tried them. Talked to Jim who was able to get the car in the same day and was able to take care of everything perfectly. Had to also replace a battery and they did this without any surprises. Very dependable, very good service, good comunication and fair pricing for the service. I will make sure our son continues to use them in the future for any other issues.

I’m new to the area and I found this place and thought with mostly good reviews. My first visit was when my check engine light had been on for almost 2 weeks and turned itself off. They explained to me why the light came on and that since it turned itself off they didn’t want to assume anything. I left my car there for a day because they said they were still diagnosing it. Then they text saying the vehicle was done, however they never told me a price. I called them right away to find out how much I would be charged. They told me it wasn’t an immediate problem and not to worry. They did not charge me and left all the information about the light on the invoice. I live about 2 miles from there and it was worth the uber charge. Oh and even the mechanics were so nice moving cars because it was blocked in. Like I said I’m new to the area and finding an auto shop is one less thing I need to worry about. I was very happy when I left. It’s been my go to place since then.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!! AVOID THIS PLACE!! Came here to replace my car battery because my regular, reputable auto shop is in the suburbs and I did not want to drive that far. Replaced my battery at Chicago Auto Repair on 9/8/22 and my car would not start on 11/13/2024!!!! Took my car in to my regular auto shop and was told it's a bad battery and that I already need a new one. (And no I did not leave a light on in my car.) Would give 0 stars if I could.

I love this auto shop, they have been working on my car for years and always do great work for affordable prices. As I live closer to other auto shops I’ve tried others but always end up coming back to this one. I know nothing about cars and I fully trust them to not rip me off or take advantage. This is the second time I've gone to this shop. Yes the price point is higher than you may find other places but they run a tight ship. They are thorough, kind, respectful, and honest. I have very limited knowledge of cars and I haven't ever felt judged or taken advantage of by these folks.
