I was charged $400 instead of $100 which Ai was promised for my car’s AC Freon recharge without any warning. I do not know local prices. Is it a fair price?

Got a quote from a large chain to replace AC's condenser and compressor and it seemed high so I asked around for a few quotes. Chicago Car Care was able to schedule me in the next day to check it themselves and replace for ~$800 cheaper than my original quote. Fast, friendly, honest.

I believed other reviews and brought my car in for a brake job for the first time. We paid $1500, but the brakes started making a high-pitched squealing noise right after being fixed when braking, which hadn't happened before, so I brought it back to be fixed. And it happened again, and again, and again. THREE times. By the time it started shaking the steering wheel when braking! I didn't want to bring my car back here anymore and took it somewhere else. The new place explained to me that it was the metal pads, which should have been ceramic, and low-quality rotors that caused the problem. The new place replaced them all and the axle, which was going bad, and I paid less than what I paid originally. I paid double the amount to replace my brakes.

I have been doing business with Chicago Care Care for close to ten years and have consistently received excellent service. They are always correct with their diagnosis of the issue and most important, they are HONEST. I have all too often found car repair places in Chicago that are not. They stand behind their work, are competitively priced and are nice people to deal with.

Brought my mom's car to to the shop. Got a code P0304. The cylinder 4 misfired. Got excessive billing for one coil replacement and diagnostic charge, despite the fact that I provided the code upfront. When I got the car back a new coil was on cylinder 3. When I have questioned this, the way it was explained to me is that in order to test it, a good coil from the cylinder 3 was moved to the cylinder 4 and the bad coil was placed on the cylinder 3. When the test confirmed that the coil was bad, a brand-new coil was placed on the cylinder 3 and the working coil was kept on the cylinder 4 to save time. However, two days later I got another engine check and sent the car back. This time I was told that the cylinder 3 misfired and I would need to replace it again for about the same amount of money. Replace a brand-new coil installed just two days earlier? When I questioned it, I was told that I must have misunderstood, and it wasn't a coil 3. It looks like someone was trying to take advantage on my elderly mom. On top of that, I was told that there are issues with the front suspension and that they would need to fix it for additional price, where in fact other mechanic told me later, there are no issues. No thank you, I am not going back, and I am not recommending this place. I did some inquiries after the fact, and other places would have charged me a fraction of the price for this service.

I've known Marshall since around 1980. In fact he's my father's first cousin. I had a 1977 Camero and Marshall helped fix my car and he did a nice job. At that time, Marshall had a thriving auto repair business operating out of his garage. Today he has built a large automotive repair business on over 50 years of personal hands-on experience. One Of The Best I've been doing business with Marshall Castle and his team since they were Marshall's Car Castle on California and Pratt. Now re-established as Chicago Car Care just south of Northside College Prep High School, they continue their tradition of great service at competitive prices. Poorly done car repairs not only cost you money, but they are also hazardous to your personal safety. This is never a problem at Chicago Car Care. Marshall and his crew are topnotch automotive technicians who keep their ASE certifications up to date. I get only fast, reliable repairs here, and Marshall stands behind all work done in his garage. I like to think I know more about the workings of cars than the average Joe (um, well, as Marshall will tell you, EVERY man likes to think he knows more about the workings of cars than the average Joe...), but cars are very complex machines, and there's no doubt in my mind that an auto mechanic who wanted to take advantage of me would have little trouble doing so. But the fact remains that cars often require expensive repairs and preventive maintenance, so it's critical to your financial health to have an honest automotive technician. I would challenge anybody to find a more honest businessman than Marshall Castle. A talented, trustworthy mechanic helps keep you safe and saves you money in the long run, which is why I highly recommend Chicago Car Care.

Marshall, was recommend by my son who has been going to him for a long while. He definitely knows his cars! we asked him to look at our issues. he got back to us in a very timely manor, he kept us informed with price before he even started to work on the car.
