I was referred to CMD Automotive by another trusted body shop in the area. I had quite a bit of work needed on my car due to an accident, but was paying out of pocket. They worked with me to get the best work for the fairest price so I wasn’t hung out to dry by the end of all of it. Kevin, at the front desk was just wonderful. Kind, communicative and never condescending, which, if you’re a woman who’s ever had to deal with a mechanic shop extensively, you’ll find is something that is a very very welcome surprise (I hate to say it, but it’s true). Everything was explained to me in great detail and they even let me come to the shop to see exactly what they were talking about/how they would repair it. The owner and lead tech was kind enough to take time out of his busy day to do this for me before I agreed to anything. He spent about 30 minutes explaining every last detail and answering my many questions. All said and done, my car was back to me all in working order in 5 days. Good customer service is something but great customer service is another. Kudos to CMD ownership and team for running a wonderful operation. Needless to say to say, I’d recommend them.

CMD has taken care of my last two cars – first an older model Mercedes and currently a 3-year-old Volkswagen – for possibly a decade. Their technicians are skilled, they perform quality work and they are ethical. After CMD diagnoses an issue, they communicate clearly about the repair and associated cost. They’ve never tried to “sell” me on other or unnecessary work. Interestingly, when I was in their Waiting Room – the guys behind the counter were talking with a customer on a tight budget. They helped her understand what she really needed to do now, and what could wait. She seemed grateful for their advice. Once CMD has made a repair – I don’t have to think about it again. I strongly recommend them.

Took my car in for an evaluation. The news could have been better, but that's not their fault. But it was obvious to me they really didn't want to work on the car. Would if I pushed. Conversation seemed to be talking down to me, but they were professional. Picked up the car and got home, smelled something burning. The front shock cover was either not replaced or replaced improperly ($48 for a replacement) and the passenger side upper panel was not reattached as it should be. (It was attached when I dropped it off).

South End prices. They do quality work and I’ve used them over the years, but they’ve taken advantage of the growth of the area and charge double what other reputable shops charge.

Awesome shop! Both Kevin and Bill are very knowledgeable and take the time to answer any and all of your questions. They have a team of kind and experienced mechanics which is nice when you have a vehicle that's more rust than car like mine. They don't push products or services on you, but will let you know their suggestions if any, and leave it at that. It's up to you if you want to take them up on it. Great place if you like things done right the first time 🙂

Friendly service, good communication. They checked my VW daily for nearly a month to chase down an intermittent parasitic draw in the electrical system. Unfortunately the issue didn’t present itself in that timeframe, and so they said they wouldn’t charge me anything because they had not found anything. I think many other shops would have charged a diagnostic fee in this case.

Was new to Charlotte & found this shops reviews on google helpful, took my used Subaru here for service and felt very taken care of. They are honest, legit and won’t over charge you, very reasonable and don’t try to take advantage of others. My Subaru has been very happy being maintained by this shop which has integrity all over their name Kevin & Bill are extremely knowledgeable and car enthusiasts. Thanks to those who review this place. And gratitude to the mechanic artist that took such good care in maintaining my Outback.

My new favorite place to get service for my 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser. Rapid response, thorough, and friendly. Kevin was great to work with as he listened patiently to my layman’s diagnosis of a new battery tied to a bad alternator. I asked CMD to check my AC lines for leaks, got a recharge. Lastly, they inspected the undercarriage and brakes. Kevin made some recommendations but not described as showstoppers but to be cognizant of my brake pads; change them soon. Dropped off as a walk-in at 8:20, finished by 3:30 that afternoon. I’m super appreciative for the work they did and will be back for service because this old truck needs some TLC.

I've been a long-time customer of CMD, and their service, knowledge and quality of work never ceases to amaze me. Until now, when they serviced my 20 year old, recently purchased Wrangler TJ. I knew it needed some TLC, but CMD went above and beyond in getting my TJ running smoother than I ever expected. Much respect to the entire team there. as a longtime client, I’ve seen a significant deterioration in the quality of service lately. My last experience was the final straw. They told me the engine was shot (has been performing fine for 9k miles since after another mechanic indicated no issue), and they broke my hood suspension and said its failure was coincidental. $110 to repair and $150 for a bogus diagnostic coupled with a rude front desk all culminated to a “never again” guarantee. Too bad - as I had been a decade long customer.

I just want to give a warm shoutout to these guys. Kevin at the front desk is always courteous, professional, and knowledgeable to work with. They always get my vehicle in and out in a day and are honest about service needed, proactive, and charge very reasonable rates for high quality service. I sincerely believe this is one of the best, if not THE best, mechanic in Charlotte. They are certainly the best ones I’ve ever worked with! Cannot recommended them enough. My wife and I have been using CMD for all of our auto services for five years. They have been able to service her Jeep and my Mercedes with all requested repairs. They work quickly and efficiently, and I trust their judgement when work is required to be done and when work is also recommended to be done (maintenance or diagnosing small issue before they become big problems). Worth the money to take it to this shop if you want the work done right. Kevin and Bill that work up front explain the repair work in a way that anyone can understand.

Called to get a quote on service. Spoke with Kevin, wasn't friendly gave a high quote without suggesting the vehicle be brought in to look at it to determine what service would need to be performed. If you're going to lead with hypothetically then hypothetically suggest a customer bring their vehicle in to look at it before abruptly telling a price over the phone without assessing the vehicle

Great service center to have work done. Kevin communicates clearly with what repairs need to be done and what the various options are. I trust the CMD guys with our Toyota 4-Runner and Tundra and feel confident that the work has been done right with quality parts used.

Just moved to the area and needed to get my car serviced. They were able to get the work done early to accommodate for a doctors appointment I needed my car for. I’m always hesitant of new mechanics, especially as a woman but these guys were great! Kevin was A+ to work with from the initial phone call all through a detailed walk through of what was done and what he would recommend I do at the next service. It was a welcoming and effective environment and they will be my go to guys from now on!

Never experienced the level of professionalism from a mechanic that i have from CMD. Not only did they misdiagnose my vehicle according to the dealership i then brought it to and attempted to overcharge me…they were rude and aggressive about their misdiagnosis when i then questioned them. They will prey on customers who do not have much mechanical experience in order to gain as much money as possible. Please avoid them if possible.

Took my vehicle in to get a diagnosis and repairs. They were extremely friendly and very up front about what the process would look like. I spoke to Kevin on the phone and he said my 1 hour diagnosis should be finished by 1pm. However, they called me about 2 hours after I dropped it off (at 7:30am) with the diagnosis and price I should expect. My car was repaired and ready to pickup by around 2pm the same day. Very efficient and friendly team
