Dan was amazing! His family runs the shop and he oversees the repairs. He said he worked as a Toyota Specialist at a Toyota Dealership for 23 years! Definitely worth every penny. Highly recommend. Great customer service by his daughter who manages the front office.

My first time bringing my car here. Robert speaks English well and I like that the family likes to educate and explain. They also asked if I wanted the old part that was replaced. I asked for PCV replacement but the owner, Dan, said it was not necessary and told me not to waste money replacing something that was not damaged. I still spent $370 for water pump replacement but they use Japanese made OEM parts here instead of generic aftermarket. I get the impression that the business is direct and fair, not shady and crooked. Reasonable prices. Extras were appreciated such as he cleaned under the hood and replaced my plastic front grate without my asking.

Owned and ran by honest, friendly, knowledgable, and committed people. Additionally, they make sure to answer any questions you might have in order to ensure that you actually understand all of what needs to happen and why; all in a timely fashion too! I would definitely say that Dan's is one of San Diego's best kept secrets (although it shouldn't be.)

I can't recommend this place enough. They took care of me and made sure to go above and beyond in their service, and saved me over $1300 by giving me a WAY better price AND service than the Ford dealership I've been going to for the last 6 years. The water pump broke on my Ford Edge 2012 and the Ford dealership quoted me $3800 to fix it. Dan took my car in and went above and beyond, even cleaning the entire engine and everything under the hood so it looks literally brand new. This repair was not easy for a mechanic. The Ford Edge water pump system is very complicated and takes 15+ hours to fix due to poor design on the part of Ford engineers. I will never buy another Ford again. Nevertheless, Dan was very careful and delicate and took his time to repair my car thoroughly and he is now my official mechanic for all service going forward. He's earned my business and the Ford dealership lost it because I was just another number to them. Your car will be well cared for by a skillful mechanic here.

I have been taking my cars to Dan Auto Repair for years. He is honest, thorough and always shows me the parts that were repaired or removed. He never upsells me for more service than is necessary. I always receive a call about the expected repair before they fix anything, and if a brand new part is really expensive, Dan will get my permission to order a rebuilt part to save me money. My husband has his '57 Chevy repaired there when necessary and also his BMW. I have a high-miles 2005 Toyota that hums along because Dan keeps it running perfectly. I highly recommed Dan and staff!

My car is an older Lancer Evolution, hard to find engine, and a turbo to boot, so it needs a bit more delicate attention. Not only Dan managed to help me avoid spending 3k (no need to replace engine, despite our initial suspicion of blown up head gasket with cooling fluid spraying the windshield and smoke coming out of the engine), but he replace the starter by pulling out the steering wheel and almost everything underneath on top of replacing the turbo hose, all under 1k. Very highly recommended. My tips for everyone, just bear with the accent and check up on the status yourself by calling. He is pretty busy so unless you are proactive in checking in, you won't know the progress.
