I have been taking my 2009 Rav4 to Du Fresne's Auto for a few years now and I know I can always trust them to give me a full picture of my car's health and what my options are. In my most recent visit, I was even able to borrow one of their loaner cars for no extra charge while they were working on my car, saving me a lot of stress as I prepare to host family in town for Thanksgiving. The work was finished days ahead of schedule and Preston spent extra time helping me determine if it was a good time to potentially sell my car or if it made more sense to keep it for a few more years. Really appreciate the whole staff at Du Fresne's and couldn't recommend them more.

The service at Du Fresne's was excellent. I was greeted warmly when I arrived, all my questions were answered with patience. I also received reminders about my appointment, which I appreciated. The service provided was fast, I had my car back before lunch! I will absolutely be coming back here for future service and repair needs.

I think I had just gotten used to bad service. But from the moment I called Dufresne's I could tell that this was something different. The other place I'd been dealing with made me feel like I, and my car were basically a pain in the neck to them. Here I got prompt, professional service from very welcoming people who communicated with me. No messing around, they just did a great job and restored my faith that there are good repair shops out there. Can't thank them enough. Jeff

I recently scheduled an appointment online with Du Fresne's Auto Service to have some work done on my 2015 Toyota Camry, which has 150,000 miles. I provided detailed information about the car and the issues, knowing my OBD reader was basic, and I needed a shop with more advanced diagnostic tools. When I arrived today to drop off my car, I was about to hand over my keys to one of the two older ladies at the desk. Suddenly, an older gentleman stepped in and said, "I'm not even sure they are going to work on this; I have to go ask." This left me baffled, and when he came back, I was shocked when he told me they couldn’t work on my car. He initially tried to claim my car had been in an accident, all because my hood is wrapped in white vinyl. I clarified that it was just a wrap and that the car had never been in an accident. It became clear to me that their refusal to work on my car was because it’s a “newer” model, and perhaps it wasn’t something simple for them to handle given the age of the owners. For a shop that’s supposed to specialize in all kinds of auto repair, their unwillingness to even take a look at a Toyota Camry—one of the most reliable and common cars on the road—was disappointing. Their experience seemed lacking, and they didn’t seem willing to even try. When I asked if they could recommend another shop nearby, the gentleman had the audacity to suggest a dealership. The whole reason I went to a small business was to avoid being overcharged by a dealership! I’m appalled at how much time I wasted only to be told last-minute that they wouldn’t work on my car. No one reached out before my appointment to inform me this might be an issue, even though I provided clear details during the booking process. Thankfully, I found another shop that morning that took care of me and my car without hesitation. In my opinion, Du Fresne’s Auto Service doesn’t deserve your business. They clearly don’t prioritize their customers, and their unwillingness to communicate in advance and offer helpful alternatives shows a lack of professionalism. I won't be returning, and I would advise others to think twice before going here. **In Response to Shops Comment* As I mentioned previously, all the parts worked on were OEM and installed by a certified professional. I can provide receipts for everything done on my car. Reviewing the car’s maintenance history, especially for a vehicle I’ve owned since day one, shouldn’t be seen as an "extra" burden for your shop. The focus should have been on addressing the specific issue I brought up, which is what I expect to pay for. Additionally, your comment about the check engine light shows a lack of understanding regarding newer vehicles. On newer cars, the engine light can indeed come on and then go off as the car's system attempts to readjust. However, diagnostic trouble codes are stored regardless of whether the light is on or off, and that’s why I needed a more advanced computer system to retrieve those stored codes. Your response only reinforces my belief that your shop was not capable of handling the issue, and I’m glad I found a more qualified shop that could take care of my car.

This is the only place I will take a car I own. We had been having a coolant leak and the tech found it was the water pump had gone. The shop got us back one the road the next day and no issues. Thanks again Preston.

We took my wife's 2007 Lexus RX 350 in because the "check engine light" was on and they helped us get everything fixed. We dropped the car off on a Friday morning and retrieved it Tuesday afternoon. Their communication was wonderful and did a fantastic job giving us options for fixing with the price associated to each option. My parents have gone to them for years and as long as we're in Portland we'll be returning for our car needs!

I brought my old honda in cause I was concerned about my brakes smelling like burnt rubber. The mechanic patiently checked and rechecked my brakes, test drove it, and checked other parts to figure it out. He ended up not finding anything. Ultimately, I was told it must be how I was "riding my brakes". Which was true haha. Anyway, I am really grateful for the mechanic's patience in listening to me and not ignoring my concerns. I was nervous how much the inspections would cost especially since they did so much diligence. At the end, they charged me for a regular brake inspection! So relieved for knowing nothing is wrong with my car and to be treated so fairly. Thank you so much for helping me out.

I needed to return to this shop for them to revisit their past work on my AC. There was an audible knock from under the hood that appeared only after they had done maintenance on my AC, and I did not notice the knock before the maintenance had occurred. When I called and asked about the issue, they said the AC repair is covered under their warranty so they can take a look at the issue with my AC free of charge. Now, here is where they lost me and why I will not be returning here for my next visit to the auto shop. I told them to check if their work was done correctly, which they did, but in addition to that they also took the liberty upon themselves to find what the underlying issue was… and charge me for it. Their rate was $93 for .5 hours of an inspection to tell me that one of my belt tensioners needs to be replaced, which is pretty ridiculous honestly especially for a returning customer who probably would have done the repair on the spot if you didn’t up charge for just the half hour estimate. The total cost of my original AC repair itself with labor and parts was $280. So honestly, I left their shop feeling taken advantage of on the second visit and because of that I cannot recommend this place anymore unfortunately.

Incredible in every way - the owner, Tee, Preston the wonderful service writer/mgr, and of course - the mechanics. Had a uniquely challenging situation w my Yukon barely out of warranty. I won’t go into the details…but I will say that many signs & finally my own instinct led me here. I felt secure in the outcome I’d get here. Honest diagnosis & work done right. Instinct was right. Here instead of the dealer service dept - this time & forever. I’m a permanent customer …and a grateful one at that. Sincere thanks to you all!

This is my second time going to this shop and positive experiences each time. I have an old Honda Odyssey that just needed the AC recharged and an oil change. I don’t plan on taking my vehicles anywhere else except Du Fresne. Also, they occasionally have specials as well! I like checking out their newsletter they have on their website.

Had our car towed there and spent over $3000 on parts that were obviously not the problem because it didn’t make it 5 miles before it broke down again with the same problem!! Looked up the part they charged us $2,000 for and I could have bought it for $500. Shady!!

My very old but highly reliable Toyota 4Runner had a microscopic radiator fluid leak around the cap, which was not surprising considering that it was the original radiator that came with the car many years back. Taking advantage of this opportunity, in addition to replacing the radiator system, I asked Marco, the mechanic, to replace all belts and hoses and recommend any replacements/fixes/adjustments that he thinks should be done this time to ensure continued reliability/performance of my car in the future. It cost some money for sure but was totally worth it. Now the ride is much smoother, quieter and much more responsive to acceleration and braking. Marco kept me updated with the progress of the repair including the availability of some parts that had to be ordered. I did not look at any other repair shops for this fairly extensive work because DuFresne’s has great reputation in our community, not to mention it is an AAA approved auto repair shop.
