These people ruined my life. I just paid off my 2013 Hyundai Elantra after the pandemic. My 6 speed clutch went out. Should've been a simple repair, but he stole engine fell out after the repairs and after the second repair it was discovered he stole me transmission. We now know that because he wasn't smart enough to realize I had a 6 speed and he changed it for a 5 speed. The car was worth over $10k. I'm a single mom. After i filled the police report, I'm screwed. The car is junk. I lost my repair money and now my HOA is charging me $1000 to remove it. Nothing i said was a lie!!! I didn't write this for drama, i wrote to curse this man and his family. I lost so much. I hope you do too

I want to be clear the 1 star is not for the owner Dwight or his mechanics. Dwight is a stand up guy and he deserves better than what is happening in his front office. The front office has a woman Annette who is Dwight’s sister, and a young man not sure if he’s related. Annette does all the pricing without any type of justification. I entered the shop at 9am knowing what was wrong with my car and the part I needed. Turns out Dwight diagnosed my car as what I knew was wrong with it. Annette ordered a part for me and said it’s $370 and the total would be $660 for everything, my car was to be finished that day, I went to get a rental and went about my day. She called at 2pm and said my car will not be ready she claimed the part was being overnighted from California, so I extended my rental. The next day, something in me said to call Mercedes to see if they have the part and how much it was…Mercedes had the part and it is $189. I immediately call the shop and she became baffled and was telling me I don’t know what I’m talking about the part is $370. She then got on the phone with Mercedes and apologized to me that she ordered the wrong part. So that means I would of had to extend my rental for 3 days instead of the one day, she would have made up a lie cause she ordered the wrong part and would have never told me the part was actually way less had I not called Mercedes myself. The part they gave me cost $120 that they said is authentic Mercedes part. When I came to pick up my car, she couldn’t look me in the eye and the young man wanted to laugh cause he knew they got busted and I was pissed, it’s so unfortunate that Dwight told them not to charge me for the coolant and they still did $40 when it’s only about $20. My bill suppose to be $470 but I was charged $523 with coolant and CC fees. I left my other mechanic because he was robbing and lying to me and it be your own people that take advantage of you. I had a conversation with Dwight about what I experienced and how I felt, I also made him aware I will not be a returning customer. He apologized and I advised him to keep an eye on what’s happening with his money. Im sure Dwight is not seeing all of his money something isn’t right about his sister and she’s teaching the young man to be deceitful. If it’s not for customers all they would have are their hands and tools. She doesn’t care about the customers and I hope Dwight looks into this and don't mix business and family anymore.

The Engine Specialist Team have all of my respect. I have brought my car to them twice in a tire truck bed and both times they’ve gotten me back on the road for a reasonable rate. Annette, Dwight, and DeLion are great with communicating…even though I may have called them a bit too much. They have pretty much redone the engine for my Audi Q5. Dwight is a perfectionist (that is absolutely a compliment btw) who took great care of my baby and returned it running BETTER THAN NEW. You are appreciated and I’ll see you again. Highly recommend!

All reviews stating that this is a well run business are lies. The front desk doesn't list all the issues you tell them requiring correction and they may fix one out of three. You find out that things are not fixed when they call you to pickup your vehicle and you specificly ask if the fixed the issues. Their receipts do not show itemized cost for parts and labor hrs. They over charge you up to five times the cost of parts they put on your car unless you bring the part to them. The BBB doesn't recommend them. See the complaints. Do not take you vehicles here.

I’ve been going to the Engine Specialist vehicle repair business for 13+ years… Ultimately, I keep going back because of the Great Customer Service by their staff and the #1 quality work provided by the mechanics. The owner/mechanic; Mr. Dwight, is very diverse in knowledge, skills, experience and very talented in his craft of mechanic engineering…. “You name it, he can repair it!” The quality of work that he provides is impeccable! He truly cares about families! I’ve witnessed first hand Mr. Dwight giving back to the community and assisting females in need of discount oil changes. I would definitely recommend this vehicle repair business to everyone!* * * * *

*Beware* Make sure you check your car and take pictures before you drop it off(under the hood, everywhere) they think we are dumb. Charles had his nephew working on my car he left off a bracket and another part to my power steering. He said it did make a difference if it was off but it's my car and I want ALL THE PARTS BACK ON. He said he didn't leave anything off but my bf took a picture of the part that was bad and noticed they didn't put it back on. They were surprised that I found out, they never replaced it. Called himself turning my codes off. Now my car makes creeking noises do they care h*ll no. *Beware*

I have been a customer since 1990 and they are the best in Decatur/Atlanta. Large or small issue Annette, Dwight, Andrew, D and the entire staff are professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I've never had a problem that was not addressed. AC repair - compressor replaced month's ago in the ATL 100+ heat, after that belts and today MAF check engine error code. Dwight saw the hose was aloose, fixed it cleared code and I was done. Thanks so much !!!

I went up there for a simple check engine light,my truck ran fine until diwight got his hands on it, now I need a new engine for my expedition. He/they blew out a spark plug and now the it’s over $2000 to repair. This is a prime example why is hard to support black on businesses.

This company has put 2 engines in 2 of my cars and they never miss a beat. I have learned a lot about car maintenance since I have been coming there for almost 3 years. If I hear a creak or a crank, a clink or a clank, I automatically call Dwight. I swear by this company. Best mechanic ever! I rarely do reviews like this.

This is the worst place to go I took my car in for a sensor removal and they broke my whole engine and told me I have to pay them 1500 dollars to replace my engine then took almost a month to fix the car and still didn’t complete the engine work so now I have to find another shop to fix my engine So I will be having my lawyer to reach out to them very soon

2/6 Once again, I'm a happy customer. My engine light came on. After Dwight did a diagnostic, I was advised that the purge valve needed to be replaced. Part was replaced and all is well. I can't stress enough the integrity of everyone at Engine Specialist. That is huge for me. Dwight did an excellent job on my car. Imagine, I had it towed to Engine Specialist from Kia. I have been taking my Optima to the Dealership for as long as I’ve owned my Car. This time, they told me that they wouldn’t get to it because they were backed up. Dwight had my car in and out. He took care of faulty wiring and other mechanical issue. I’m one happy customer that will be returning back without hesitation.

Stay away if they offer engine repair/replacement services. Just a money pit. Repaired engine then replaced engine and more lights came on. They had my truck for 2+ months and never admitted to being in over their heads

You know I have read just about every review posted out here regarding Engine Specialist. I myself and family and friends have been going to E.S. for over 25 years and I have not had any issues with this family run business. I will continue to recommend people to Engine Specialist. ONE LUV Dewight and Annette. Everyone may have a bad day but we need their services, so it also how we approach the situation of being upset because your vehicle is broken or not working properly.
