Had a noise coming from wheel area of car . Had it serviced somewhere else but stopped in for a quick safety check . They were honest about when they could get to vehicle and once checked out noticed some irregularities with tire mounting from other garage. Very impressed with them wanting to help .

Exceptional, this is the only place I take my Jeep. Their pricing is great. I always do everything by appointment and never have to wait. The owner is the usually one who greets you and answers your questions. Everyone is friendly and professional. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

We have used Fern Creek Auto for many years now and they have always been the best for their pricing and quality of work. A recent purchase of a used car for our son had us worried when it started stuttering while driving. After a diagnostic and a simple repair we are back on the road. Highly recommend David and his team as a local shop you can count on. I have an update from 06/14/24-Wow, I never want to replace my original review so I am adding it this way-Fern Creek Auto came through for us yet again by helping with a stuck wheel bearing on our Dodge Journey right after I called them in a bind because we needed it pressed out. Anyone who asks where I recommend I send them here because you’re just not going to find their kind of service/value in a lot of places.

I gave my 1984 Ford F150 to Fern Creek Auto & Truck (FCA) around the first of June 2019. Instructions were to get it running after having already rebuilt the engine and wasting a lot of money on two other “mechanics”. It had sentimental value because my son and I had started restoring it about five years earlier. I initially said there was no rush, but by the next summer (2020) nothing had been done and I began pressing for progress on the truck. TWO YEARS LATER (late May 2022), I finally got the truck back, and that was only after my son (now an adult) and I worked on FCA’s lot to get it running ourselves. I was charged $1855 for this “service”. I don’t mind if a shop has to spend a lot of time troubleshooting, but the issue here was a combination of ignorance and indifference. Something was obviously still wrong when FCA basically gave up and turned it over to us. It barely ran and we determined that no oil was getting to some of the valves. Although lifters were new, at FCA’s suggestion, we bought another new set and installed ourselves at FCA’s lot. FCA insisted that our new head had adjustable rocker arms although this this was verifiably incorrect with just a little online research. But we managed to get it running well enough to take home, with FCA’s instruction that the new lifters just needed more running time to pump up. After driving the truck for a while, it got worse. My son now owned the truck and spent many hours troubleshooting and adjusting. Without going into too many details, the problem all along was that an oil channel plug was left out of the engine block during the initial rebuild (prior to FCA involvement), causing oil to bypass the upper block and head. My son determined this with a simple oil pressure check on each cylinder, something that FCA definitely should have done. Since FCA did not have the knowledge and/or initiative to properly troubleshoot, and returned the truck to us with poor oil circulation and incorrect valve lash, the engine was basically ruined. My son finally got it running properly after spending thousands more dollars. • He found out that the rocker arm studs had backed out of the head and, once corrected, the nuts simply needed be torqued to spec and were truly non-adjustable in spite of FCA’s insistence otherwise. However, accumulated head damage necessitated a complete head replacement. • He had to pull the engine to correct damage from low oil pressure, including a second replacement of many parts. • When one cylinder continued to have piston slap, he pulled the engine AGAIN and consulted with machine shops. The lack of oil circulation had caused too much damage and the cylinders had to be re-rebored and all pistons re-replaced! So now the entire engine is rebuilt once more at considerable expense. The $1855 spent on FCA, plus the three years of waiting, was a complete waste. My battery was stolen while the truck was under FCA’s care, and they charged me for the replacement. All the other parts and labor were almost certainly unnecessary if they had just determined that the issue was only a missing oil plug and improperly seated rocker arm studs. You would think that Fern Creek Auto & Truck would know these older trucks like the back of their hand, but that is far from true. AVOID.

This place does quality work at a reasonable price (just take your vehicle somewhere else and get a quote and compare, you'll see!). I'd recommend them 100% of the time to anyone needing car/truck repair. If you're not in the Fern Creek area, the quality of work and honesty are worth the extra miles!

Called for a quote on my suv, best one by far! Dropped it off on Sunday (key box) thinking at best 3 day wait...nope! Monday and done!!! My suv drives the best it has and at a very good price!!! They even put air in my tires ( it the little stuff I love) my new shop 100% (injector replace, tune up and gaskets)

So, I used to recommend this place a lot. However, a couple of years ago I took my car in to get the brakes fixed and a sensor reset. Picked it up the sensor was reset and I was told everything was fine when they drove it, paid the bill and left. Got in the car and the first time I put on the brakes... The awful grinding sound was still there. They only changed one set of brakes. Immediately took it back in. The owner of the shop is amazing apologized and had his employee take me home after he said "oh I didn't know I needed to check all the brakes" to which I asked "so the grinding sound sounded safe to you when you drove it???" I refrained from changing my review because he fixed the issue and didn't charge me labor, and he had been so helpful and honest prior times. Fast forward to last week. We take my husband's SUV in. "We need a tune up, breaks changed, it stalled on us at a red light and it's been rumbling, taking it on a road trip so we need it to run smoothly and thoroughly checked. " First I made an appointment and they couldn't find us in their books. They still got us in so ok. They called us the next day ... "It's ready" I ask "ok so spark plugs are good? battery is good? It's not rumbling or anything? Did you find anything wrong?" "No we changed the brakes the rotors and fixed the wheel bearing and you're good to go" (all cleared through us prior and asked THEN as well if everything else was checked and to please be certain as the 6month old is coming with us we can't break down) great! Pick it up runs decent something still seemed off but I'm no car expert I just have Google 🤷🏽‍♀️. Next day get in the SUV and it's rumbling WORSE than it was when we took it in. Over it, we booked an appointment with a different auto shop. Still keeping it two stars because I like the owner and if he works on your car it's fine. But his employees obviously need some help.

I have came here for all my needs. They do honest work and never over charge. I keep all my receipts and never had anything change on me. They use good oil and quality parts. When I bought my car I noticed I needed to get my hub bearings replaced and called around for prices. My friend recommended this place to me so I called them last. It so happened that they gave the best price out of the 5 other places I called in the fern creek area. You will likely have to make an appointment and drop it off earlier in the day if able and they will call you when it’s done and ready to be picked up. I drive a 2011 Honda Civic and they keep it running good. Every time they changed it (I do it now) they looked to see if tires need rotating, check air filters and brakes as well. They are thorough. I can easily recommend this place.

Very busy repair shop. I made an appointment and was there 15 minutes early. They took my car right in and they were done quicker than expected. I checked Google to get a range on the price and the bill for the repair came in on the low end. Very pleased and will recommend them to all
