Floyd's auto repair services have been nothing but fantastic to my family, friends, & business. These folks make you feel like family and do a phenomenal job of getting the job done at a extremely reasonable price. Never once have I felt taken advantage of, and they they shoot straight to the point. Thank you Carlos and staff for assisting my family over the years and helping us get back on the road. I would like to start by saying that I hate leaving negative reviews. I have to have a truly poor experience to do so. That being said, Floyd’s Auto Repair in Houston, TX are at best negligent, dishonest and do not care about the safety of their customers. At worst, they intentionally lie about the work that they perform and take assume that you do not have the knowledge to call them out. They take advantage of people. Here is the backstory: I brought my car here to make sure that it was ready for a road trip. As a female who was going to be driving across country alone, I always make sure my car is looked at before a long drive. They replaced an axle, it was the wrong one and installed improperly. It was leaking the next day and it ended up causing a bearing to go out in my differential and costing me 1400 dollars worth of damage days after I left their shop. I have been to 4 different mechanics trying to fix the issues that they caused. They told me that they fixed my heaters (and charged me for an hour of labor). My heater was not working the very next day. On top of that, they did not inspect the vehicle at all, which they also lied about. I know this because the day after I picked it up, I had to bring my car into a different mechanic because when I got it on the highway it was extremely wobbly and dangerous to drive. When I brought it to the new mechanic, it took them less than 5 minutes to look at the undercarriage and identify that they idler arms were completely shot. They were shocked that my car had been at another mechanic the day before. Floyd's also was unable to tell the difference between a control arm and a differential housing bracket (if you are versed in cars this is a BIG red flag), they welded my car without speaking to me first. While the part was difficult to find and it did need to be welded, it is very odd to not run a welding by a customer beforehand. To add to all of this, Carlos, the owner, yelled at me on the phone when I confronted him. I asked him for an invoice of one of the parts that he installed because I have reason to believe that they said they installed a new part when they did not. He refused. He then told me that they did not endanger my life that it was my fault for driving an older car (my car is a 2003 Astrovan and while it is older, it is in excellent condition and when I brought it in initially, he was praising my car and saying how I needed to hold on to it and take good care of it as they are hard to find etc etc). All in all, it was a very bizarre experience that ended up costing my thousands of dollars and put my life in danger. You are welcome to read the reviews for the other string of mechanics that I have now had to take my car to to fix the problems that started with Floyd’s auto repair. Please do not take your vehicle here unless you know enough to double check the work that they do. They are dishonest and I believe the owner should have his license revoked. Edit in response to the owner: My car has 150k on it. Do you not work on cars with mileage that high? The only serious issues my car has were caused by you. The work we “refused to have done” was having my air conditioning fixed as it was not a pressing matter. I 100 percent said to do any and all repairs related to safety and drivability of my vehicle. I left your shop happy and thinking you did the repairs (until I got on the highway and almost lost control of my vehicle, at which point you were closed) so no, no one threatened to sue you. Days ago, I did say that we would have to go to small claims court if you did not provide a refund for the part that had to be sent back days after it was installed. It was the wrong part, it was improperly installed and caused more damage that I have spent thousands of dollars repairing now. Noone wanted you to work for free, we paid the bill. We expected the work to be done and it was not. In addition to all of this, I gave you an opportunity to show me the receipts for my distributor (which you claim to have installed) and you refused. You then cussed me out.

Floyd's Auto Repair has been a neighborhood staple for years, thanks to Carlos and the team. They've earned our trust with their reliable service and friendly atmosphere. While there are other great shops nearby, we always prefer Floyd's. When it comes to auto repair, they're simply the best in our community!

Carlos and the guys really know their stuff. I took my car in for overheating issues, and even though they were very busy, it didn't take too long to diagnose a couple of leaks and come up with a very fair estimate. I won't hesitate to use Floyd's for my future repairs/maintenance. Excellent shop and people!!

I was recommended to come to Floyd’s by a coworker but now I’m recommending Carlos’ place to everyone!!!! I was quoted $1600 for a repair from a shop just a few miles down the road. I brought it to Floyd’s- same repair for $450. This is an HONEST, family business. I truly felt like I was getting help from a family member; he was that upfront with me!! We will be back for every repair and oil change from now on!!!! Stop your search and come here.

I had a great experience at Floyds Auto Repair on Blalock after I reached out about the lower control arms on my Honda. I had been quoated over $1000.00 for the repair by another shop down the road. Carlos gave me a much lower quote and told me to bring the car back Monday for the repair. Monday; after examining my car, Carlos called me and said there was nothing wrong with the lower arm controls. He was honest, unbiased and provided excellent service. He did not charge me for the diagnosis and was very pleasant. I highly recommend Floyds Repair Shop and when you go in: ask him how he got the name “Floyds”

So my company car broke down last week and my corporate office told me to take it to the closest Ford Dealer, which for me is right off of 290 and Beltway 8. They got it on Tuesday but didn’t give me an estimate till Friday, which was $4000 ($900 in parts, the rest for labor). I called Carlos at Floyd’s and he got a tow truck over and picked up just before 5pm on Friday. I figured I would be out of a car for at least to Tuesday but Carlos called Saturday a little after 1pm and told me the car was ready and for a FRACTION of what they were trying to charge. So I learned two things: 1. Never trust big dealerships 2. Never use anyone else but Floyd’s (and Carlos)
