Fred's Garage is amazing. Our car started sputtering in the Great Smokey National Park. We managed to get it to his shop late Saturday and he made a special trip in on Martin Luther King Day to make sure we got back to Georgia at a fair price. Beth, Brock, and Fred are very friendly and Fred's got some great stories to tell. I would definitely recommend Fred's Garage.

This place needs to be shut down . I gave these people over $1,600 to work on my car. I had my axel replaced almost a year ago here and now I have to get my axel replaced again because they decided to put an old axel on my car . Also I had took my car there to get my gas leak fixed and they didn’t fix it the first time. Whenever I picked my car up and went to the gas station to put gas in it , the gas leaked all over the parking lot. So I took it back to them and they put the gas back in it after they supposedly fixed it again. Turns out they never fixed it for real they just basically put a bandaid over it because it’s been giving me problems ever since a few months after they did it. Of course they will probably comment on my comment and try to make it seem like I’m lying or didn’t do something right like they have other comments . Also no I wasn’t going to take it back to them for the 4th or 5th to them to not fix it again. Just please don’t take your car here .

We were visiting the Smoky Mountains in Townsend Tennessee when my brakes started to make a terrible screaching and grinding noise. Freds garage in Alcoa was recommended to us. We called and they got us in that day. They went out of their way to get the needed parts and have our car back on the road so we could enjoy our trip. Thank you, Fred and staff. You guys/gals are the best! We enjoyed our unexpected stop at your garage and are singing your praises. You went out of your way to provide us with fast, professional service and offered entertaining conversation as well.

I called trying to find someone who could help with a very last minute pre-purchase inspection. Beth was great and told me they could squeeze me in that day, even though it was 30 minutes before closing time. The mechanic was super helpful, Beth was great, and I appreciate them both so much. Thank you guys for your help! I recommend this business and will be back again.

After being my car back twice. My brakes aren’t right still. They should of offered to replace rotors in beginning. Not gonna keep paying labor. Doing it myself now and the pads are already shot

Had to deliver my sons car on my trailer, Car timing chainand tensioner were broken. Fred's guys did the repair along with making certain all the debris from the broken parts were removed, Oil changed, oil pump cleaned, new plugs and a very clean finished job in just a couple days...Car RUNS GREAT AGAIN.

I normally don’t write reviews, but Fred’s Garage really went above and beyond to get my car fixed. While driving home to Alabama, I damaged the lower control arm on my Mazda. After a couple of stops, I ended up getting a $10 inspection done at another auto shop, which is how I found out about the broken part. This shop said the cost to install the replacement part would be around $600 and would take several hours to get the part to the store, as well as a couple hours to fix the part. My brother was with me, and he looked up the car part, finding out that he could get it for $200 from a nearby auto part store. The initial auto shop said they couldn’t put in a part bought by a customer and stated their mark-up and warranty accounted for the expensive estimate. My family began calling around to other auto shops to see about other options. When we called Fred’s Garage, they said they would be able to install the part that day if we bought it. They were straightforward with the cost of labor per hour and stated that they are not able to provide warranties for parts purchased by customers. I drove to Fred’s Garage while my brother went to buy the part. When I got there, the woman immediately got my car in and said they had a way of looking out for people who don’t live in their town, and it’s definitely true. The mechanic had the broken control arm off my car by the time my brother got there with the part. He quickly installed the new part, going above and beyond by taking a look at my engine and fluid levels. By going to Fred’s Garage, I saved about $150 and several hours of time on the road. I would highly recommend this shop!

They are HORRIBLE AND LIARS. Last Tuesday we called and made an appointment for Friday (their choice). We dropped our vehicle at 9 am as we were told. By 2 pm when we had not heard anything, I called for a status and no one answered. I called again at 3 and left a voice mail. At 4 after no one returned my call, I called again only to be told that they hadn't looked at it because they had a "problem child". Vehicle was never looked at on Friday. 9:45 Saturday Bev called and gave diagnosis, got approval and confirmed it would be ready by 3. AGAIN, I called at 2 after not hearing anything and was told there was yet another vehicle on the lift and my vehicle would not be done by closing but would be done "first thing Monday ". Monday I called at 10 and Bev told me again, that they were working on someone's lights. I told her to put the key in the car and we would come and get it. My husband was there in 30 minutes and low and behold they were working on it on our vehicle. Took them one hour for the repair. Bev told my husband she was confused with another Escape (there was no Escape other than mine it was an Edge). As stated it took an hour so they could have still made the repair when I called on Saturday but apparently didnt feel like it. When I called Bev after my husband left on Monday, she still kept changing her story. She was confused, then our vehicle had been looked at on Friday, it was on the lift when we called... whatever twist she could put on it. If you value your time and expect to be treated with an ounce of respect and not lied to DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE. Apparently if something better comes in, or someone they know, you'll get booted to the back of the line EVEN if you have an appointment

We have immerse gratitude for the service we received at Fred’s Garage. They went over the top and prioritized our issue to fix our problem allowing us to get back on the road to Canada. Fred and Andy were great. Very professional and honest. I took my truck in because my ac went out, and it was simply missing a bolt causing my ac clutch to be loose. They could have easily ripped me off with a new compressor but they were honest and it only cost me a twenty dollar tip to secure the clutch. I definitely recommend these two gentlemen.

Fred is awesome he fixed my husband truck a few months ago and he fixed my jeep cherokee today. He is vary honest and his prices are very reasonable. I'll not be taking any of my vehicles anywhere else.

I 'm from out of town and had some car issues on the way down. Fred diagnosed the problem, took care of the car and did not charge me for his time. If you are from out of town or even in town you can trust Fred. He will even give you great motorcycle roads in the area to ride . Fred Rocks!

I had an engine light on and travelling back to Canada,so I didn't want to take the chance. Fred reviewed my problem and started his own research. In no time at all he advised that the problem was most likely due to a part that is currently on a safety recall and directed me to the dealership. It's rare when you come across an honest mechanic, but I DID!!

My car wouldn’t start and I knew I’d be paying to diagnose the mystery problem, so I wanted to find an honest mechanic and came to Fred’s Garage based on these Google reviews. He turned out to be exactly the guy described by all the other loyal, grateful, satisfied customers. He was extremely personable, and went out of his way to make sure he knew what the problem was before spending time and money ordering an expensive replacement part. Because of his diligence, I had a wonderful surprise when he found out that I didn’t need a new fuel pump, but simply needed some wires replaced after a rodent had chewed through them completely. Fred saved me a ton of time and money that I’m confident would’ve been spent if I’d taken my car somewhere else. I honestly can say confidently that only Fred will be working on my car from this point forward, for service, maintenance, or repairs. I am super comfortable trusting him to make good decisions that will keep this car running as long as possible, without overpaying along the way. I give this my strongest recommendation if you are looking for an excellent mechanic that you can actually trust.
