Fred’s was able to get my car in same day, figure out what the problem was, and fix it within an hour at a low cost! It completely saved an upcoming trip as my car kept dying on me, and they had great and quick service. Highly recommend!

Didn’t have the best experience at Fred’s. The customer service was great, but I don’t think their prices are fair at all. I came into the shop for one thing (check my brakes) and he instead quoted me over a grand for a laundry list of other things I didn’t ask for. He told me my car isn’t safe to drive, but let me take it from the shop with no issue. You think for the $65 diagnostic, they at least could’ve topped up my fluids too but no. For what it’s worth, my car seems to be just fine. I called my longtime mechanic up Rogers Park and he quoted me for the same things at a significantly cheaper price point. Nice people, but I won’t be back since they don’t seem to play fair.

Great service, everyone on the team were extremely helpful and kind. All the information was clearly communicated and explained, the pricing was fair and the work was done quickly. Definitely recommend and will come back for future car maintenance.

We took in our car for new tires and routine work before moving cross country last month. It was easy to schedule, bring the car in, and they did the work in a timely fashion. The pricing was about what I expected, reasonable. They didn’t try to add on unnecessary work or fees. Our old car made the cross country drive with zero issues.

I brought my car to Fred's after I had spoken to a mechanic I had used several years ago. The owner recommended a few places since they had moved. Fred's was one of them. I was apprehensive about driving it more then 10 minutes. My transmission had issues, and then some!! Fred's is literally 5 minutes from my home. I met Joe, the manager, and he happens to be my neighbor! I dropped my vehicle off on Monday around 11 a.m.. An hour or so later, Ray, the mechanic contacted me to go over the work my car needed. He went over every detail, including labor costs. I had requested a full inspection be done. It had been years since I had a thorough checkup on my vehicle. Ray said it would be ready by late Tuesday afternoon. Low and behold, I received a call at 10 am Tuesday morning that my car was ready. In anticipation of the cold weather, I was hoping to get it by Tuesday, even if it was later. Both, Joe and Fred were both present when I picked up my car. I wanted to meet Ray; after all, he did the repair work. I was very pleased! I now know I have found a repair shop I can trust. One of my church friends had taken her car to Fred's, and was pleased. Ray, the mechanic, and Fred, the owner, are absolutely fantastic. The customer service person, Joe, is not. He was condescending and unprofessional on the phone. He did not call me to inform me that my car was ready, and then proceeded to blame me for not coming to pick it up on time, threatening to start charging me a "storage fee." I have had excellent experiences with the workmanship: their work is timely, reasonably priced, and well-done. But this customer service agent has made me seriously consider no longer patronizing this shop.

This place is awesome! I needed a new muffler, and Fred got me in on Christmas Eve morning, no problem! I needed my car repaired because I was going to drive it from the city to the SW burbs on Christmas Day. The muffler was put on by Ray, who did a great job! And the cost was extremely fair, too!

Wow! Easy to schedule, great service, accurate pricing and estimates before any work is done! This is a shop I really trust and feel I get a fair price. I would like to call out Ray and Joe who I worked with most recently. Same day repair completed just in time for me to make the trip to FL after Thanksgiving!! Thanks guys! I do not look forward to car repairs but when needed, I will definitely be back in touch with Fred's!

I called the shop somewhat in a panic this morning due to the panel underneath being loose and dragging. The guys got me in immediately and charged me more than a fair price. I have such bad anxiety working with mechanics and they were so incredible kind and wonderful to work with I cannot thank them enough for being such great people. Happy to have found my new shop for all my car needs. Can’t recommend them enough!

I’ve had my car repaired at Fred’s twice now. They have been nothing but friendly, professional and transparent. Their prices are incredibly reasonable and their turn around is quick and accurate to what they initially estimate. I had my transmission replaced here, a notoriously tricky job. It took less than a week. The most recent time my car needed repairs, an engine coil failed, they replaced it in one day. Next time I have a car issue I’ll be sure to go to Fred’s.

Absolutely fantastic. I came in last year for a quote, and was quoted $1500 less than what Tuffy on Diversey did. I couldn’t afford the lump sum at the time. A few months later when I could afford it I came in and Fred kept the same quote from a few months prior, which I really appreciated and thought was that of a class act. Replacement of my brakes and suspension took less than a day. Fast, efficient, affordable, and kind. Will return for all my car repairs!

After hours of trying to fix issues on my own, I was nervous about potentially having a bad transmission. I reluctantly brought my car to Fred's. The mechanic took notes and listened to everything I could explain. They called me back in about 2 hours, confirming the transmission was fine, but had a short list of minor issues I didn't even know about. After this visit, my car is running smoother than ever! Cannot recommend them enough. So fast and definitely offering the best prices.

Fred's has been my Go-To auto shop since I have been in the Chicago area. They have always been able to get me in and up extraordinarily quickly. Recent example is I was changing the pads and rotors on my Ridgeline and ran into a seized caliper pin on a Saturday. Didn't have a way to heat the pin so called Fred's and they got me in 7:30 am the very next Monday and finished up at 10:30 am same day with my truck ready to go. Very professional, great communication, and highly recommended.

I concur with all the 5-star ratings on Yelp. Fred’s Wrigleyville Garage and Auto Repair truly is a hidden neighborhood gem and deserving of all the recognition and accolades. Everyone at the garage was super helpful from start to finish. Stuart, who triaged my call was engaging, responsive, helpful, and flexible. Upon arrival at the garage, Joe checked me in - he was friendly and welcoming and had my car inspected, fixed, ready, and out the door in less than 3 hours. The entire process was very efficient. I also had the pleasure of meeting the garage owner, Fred, who was super friendly, approachable, and professional. Overall, as a first time customer I was very pleased with the pricing, efficiency, professionalism, quality customer service and care that Fred's team provided to me. I live in Evanston and when my check engine light came on, I took my car to a place in Evanston. After learning it would cost over $4000 to fix the problem, I called Fred. Fred saved me a significant amount of money and was transparent with the issues and the timeline. The cherry on top - Fred delivered my car to my driveway in Evanston to ensure the check engine light wouldn’t come back on when it was being driven.

These guys!!! Joe and Ray went far and beyond for me today!! If ever I'm in this gorgeous city Chicago (which is most of my waking hours) if I need automotive help I WILL CALL MY PEEPS AT FRED'S !!! I highly recommend you for the same! Trusted by me for sure! I even got extra smiles from everyone all the way around. I left my phone in my car when it was towed to Fred's. Ya know that awesome man Joe who rode his bicycle on his break to bring my phone to me. Ray lemme tell ya! He told me that I wouldn't get my car til tomorrow noon. I was worried cause I take important meds. I understood of you don't have the part yet, all good. Ray calls me 4:45 (give or take) "your car is ready miss Lisa" i could hear that he was happy to call and tell me! Now I'm getting a little because those over there did everything for me! There are humans that are truly human with love and souls out there! They proved it today! Please go to Fred's they will take care of you! I can't thank you enough!! First time customer and they did a great job with a quick turnaround. Love that you can book an appointment online, which is one of the main reasons I’ve put up with Firestone’s high prices. Don’t need to anymore! Also p.s. love Fred’s responses to the negative reviews. He knows what he’s talking about.

Fred’s garage fixed my car in a quick, fair, professional and thorough manner. I had a mechanic give me a list of a ton of stuff wrong so I took my car to Fred’s and they found what really needed to be fixed and had it completed quickly and explained everything to me. All done at a fair price. Big thanks to Fred and his team.

I’ve been taking my husband’s car and my recently purchased car into Fred’s and they have always been very straight forward with me on what the car needs and don’t try to over sell me on things the car doesn’t need. Had an ongoing noise issue with my car and Fred went above and beyond in trying to identify and fix the issue. They even went and got a second opinion from another local garage and didn’t charge me. Very responsive and reliable shop. Would recommend to anyone looking for a local mechanic.
