I hit a road alligator driving down from Indiana and realized there was a piece of plating hanging down under my RAV4, the tech was able to assess my vehicle for me ASAP. Nick was able to get us in and out so quickly and found there was nothing wrong with my vehicle, it was really just a burden off my mind. Thank you again Nick for being so friendly and helpful, it was a wonderful experience.

They are always fast, efficient, and kind! I’ve been other places that have tried to scam me because I’m a woman and they think I don’t know anything about cars (or that I can’t just google anything they say). That has never happened here. If I go in for an oil change, I leave with one. It’s SO refreshing. I will keep coming back.

We damaged our car on tire debris on a trip from Indy to Chicago, but didn’t realize it until we reached town. Once we noticed the damaged we called the highest rated repair in Wicker Park and spoke with Nick, one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. He was waiting when we arrived and had the issue diagnosed and fixed so fast, it was truly impressive. Look no further, if you you’re in need of auto repair, they will treat you right!

My car's starter failed last week and I had to have it towed for service. Based on a Google search, I called Gateway. Nick answered, recommended a great tow and agreed to have the car checked as soon as it got in. Long story short, Gateway diagnosed the problem, called me with a quote and completed the work that same afternoon. Great service! I'll use them again when I need a car repair.

After going to two different shops telling me my battery was fine (and having my car not start TWICE) I gave up and just brought my car to this shop since it was down the block. They finally listened to me and checked the battery again and it finally showed to be faulty. Two tows, two jumps and three shops later I finally found a place that listened to me and didn’t tell me I was wrong. They took pictures of the test and emailed me it. I changed my battery and my car has been working perfectly in the cold weather. Can’t thank this shop enough!

Took my car here for a check engine light. They got me in right away and called me to tell me that they could fix part of it but the other part needed to be handled by a dealer because it involved software. Were so transparent with me about it and because they couldn't help me, they didn't even charge me. Super friendly, I loved how upfront and honest they were, told me exactly what I needed to tell the dealer when I brought it in. I am definitely coming back here when I do need non-software related maintenance :)

My daughter was referred to this place to check the rear brakes making noise on her Porsche Macan. She was told there are lines in her rotors and both the rotors and brake pads should be replaced. Well the rotors are slotted and drilled and the lines are there because they were made like that. Furthermore, the pads and rotors are not more than a few months old. Why would you tell a young lady that rotors and brake pads should be replaced when there was no wear on them at all! The brake was on because of a faulty sensor that needed replaced. I guess this business wanted to rip her off and replace everything because of brake noise. This was an unreasonable assessment and it will be difficult to trust them for minor repairs or to take advantage of young females.

Dishonest and faulty craftsmanship. I essentially paid 300 dollars for their mechanic to zip tie the wrong part to my transmission. I brought my vehicle to the shop when my gear shift broke, and they replaced the bushing that connects it to the transmission with the incorrect part without telling me. I found out the next day when the “universal bushing” slipped off of the transmission and my car was stuck in reverse. They sent the mechanic to my location where he proceeded to zip tie the bushing to my transmission. Then they were stand offish and aggressive over the phone, refused to order the correct part, insisted that I order the part off of Amazon, and denied me a refund after I explained I was upset with the situation and how it was handled. Do not recommend.

I had the front brakes and rotors replaced on my 2016 range rover. The front brakes have been squeaking (same noise you hear when pads need to be replaced). And when I come to a complete stop, right before, there is a low pitched hum/thump. I took the car back for them to review. The shop manager says they drove the car and didn't hear anything. They allegedly looked at the brakes and noted no issues. They don't know what to do. I have to take the car to another company for diagnosis. I'll post my findings here after we determine what the issue is. Until then a one star review will remain since Gateway refused to help diagnose the issue and gave up so quickly.

Went in thinking I only need a tire patch, upon further inspection I was notified that all of my tires needed to be replaced. I was given NUMEROUS options in used and new tires as well as details on what type of tires I had and what I really needed. Fantastic communication, tires were replaced faster than expected.

Thalia is very great at providing all information and run down of the procedures when getting your vehicle checked for issues with the transmission and engine she takes the time to listen to every concern and gives you a great time frame of when your vehicle is ready & explains all that is done as well as provide any details of what you may not understand.This place not only provided me with a great experience but reassuring me that I can count on them.I recommend this place not every mechanic shop or transmission place give great service.Thank you Xavier Rodas for checking my vehicle out on 7/20/21 and Thank you Thalia Salmeron for your great customer service.

Very disappointed as I took my car for a fix and pay over $100 for the check and they were NOT able to fix the issue and I lost that amount and they did not pay me back that. Also chasing them for quote and find out that their quote was over the top on price. Wish this local biz was more on top instead had to go to a big corporation where they are quick and more responsive. So bad...

Had to get my oil change on my Jeep. I usually do it myself but with no garage and Chicago weather I decided to take it to Gateway! They have great service & were able to fit me into their busy schedule. I will def be back.

I won’t be going back. Long story short I needed to pass an emissions test by the end of the month. I had a light on and took it here. He changed my oil and told me I need to spend just over $1,500 to fix my catalytic converter and something else (can’t remember). I asked multiple questions and he assured me that the obd test is always accurate and it could not be anything else.. he said my car wouldn’t pass emissions without the repairs.. my car is worth about $1000 and has 190k miles..... two days after leaving with just the oil change, I passed an emissions test. The guy at Gateway was nice but then again.. how can you really know that he’s not a con man....? Also, this was a month ago. My car is still running well with no check engine lights on.

Just called to ask about their availability for a checkup/inspection before going for an emissions test and got an honest walk through of what to try to resolve my dash light "maintenance required" on my own over the phone. I appreciate the honesty.
