Although Gilbert's is hard pressed for space, he and his team provide excellent service and work, with rates far below dealership rates. Gilbert is extremely knowledgeable about the industry and he and his team combine for over 75 years of experience. My 15 years with them has been a very good ride!

Took a look at all the other reviews for Gilbert and I could not agree more. Gilbert is the only person that touches my families cars when repairs are needed. Unfortunately, the mechanic who I trusted and used to keep my car running passed away. As a result, I took to Yelp to seek out someone that could take his place. Based on the reviews for Gilbert, I brought my car into his shop to test it out -- this was years ago when his shop was in Culver City. I have been a loyal customer since then. Gilbert is very knowledgeable, detail oriented and personable which are all wonderful traits for a mechanic to have. He works hard to figure out the issue with your car and then provides you with a detailed explanation of what it will take to repair it. The work he performs is also top notch and at a very fair price. If you are looking for a trustworthy mechanic that provides great service, look no further than Gilbert. He is now in a smaller shop on a corner that you can easily miss if you are not looking carefully. It is so worth it to take the time and find him though!

I been going here for many years. Gilbert is a honest guy and does great repairs. He won’t rip you off or try to fix stuff that doesn’t need to be. He is very honorable.

Gilbert is going to be my mechanic until he retires! He’s excellent at both identifying issues with your car as well as walking you through what needs to be fixed (and not condescendingly, as I’ve experienced with mechanics elsewhere). Gilbert is kind and reliable, returns calls and has great turnaround times. Plus, his prices are better than most in the area.

I was vacationing 6 hours away from home. The day i was returning home i notice all my lights were coming out, ABS, VAS, power steering, brakes, battery. It freaked me out. I was so scared i had to pull off to the gas station and turn off my car. Once i turned it off my car wouldn't start anymore. I had called a tow truck and he referred me to gilbert. Gilbert was so good with us. It was just us girls and we were so scared. Gilbert made us feel so much better. I told him what was going on with my car and without looking at it he knew it was my alternator and he was surely correct. He told us it was going to be a quick and easy fix. He was great at communicating with us and very friendly. He only took a little over an hour to fix. He even check my oil and water and made sure we had a safe trip back home. I can't thank him enough! If i could give him more than 5 stars i would!

went to california for a trip to the beach with my kids. unfortunately i had an issue with a leak in my car relating to my coolant! i was pretty much stranded, but was referred by the tow truck employee. gilbert was wonderful in helping me get my car taken care of, and also helped me with a discount as this was unexpected and im not a local. i would DEFINITELY recommend his services and would go back as a return customer if i was in the area again. 5 stars!!!

Can't give these guys enough stars. I tend to work on my own vehicles as I've had such bad experiences with mechanics in the past. If I had found these guys before I left LA, I would have delegated everything to them. They do quality work, care about the outcome and Gilbert is an excellent communicator. Wherever the situation you find yourself in, Gilbert's Auto Repair will ensure your get the best outcome. My advice, pay attention, understand the basics of what's being done and don't cut corners. Invest in your vehicle and have these guys do your regularly scheduled maintenance. Personal note to Gilbert: I've been pulling a 2500lb trailer and fully loaded bed at altitude through the desert... That temperature gauge hasn't budged a micrometer. Truck is running perfect. Thanks for the peace of mind. -Camilo

Gilbert is solid! He's an honest, straightforward guy and he doesn't overcharge. He gets you fixed up quickly and back on the road. I refer him anyone who is having auto issues and he handles them all! It's hard to find a great mechanic but not if you have Gilbert helping you out!
