Daniel Heim is the best he took care of us like we were family. We couldn't have ask for a better salesman. If your looking for a car stop in and see Daniel

He keeps it simple and gives it to you straight. Diagnosis, quote, and repair was ways done same day or next day. I recommend.

Mike has gotta be, hands down, one of the best mechanics I have ever met in my life, and probably could be considered one of the best in Kansas City. To find a guy who's not only as skilled as he is, but is honest and devoted to his work. He isn't a guy to sugarcoat things or tell you anything but the hard truth and facts (hence why some people say "terrible customer service!"). My dad has been a customer of his for decades, and both of them being motorheads, they get along quite well. Mike has been responsible for fixing up half a dozen cars or better for us over the years... My dad's various 90's and 00's Cadillacs he so adores, my mom's Benz's that my dad lavished her with, my own junker of a Benz, followed by my junker of an Oldsmobile and junker of a Mercury. Lately, I've got a truck I bought a few months back, and Mike has gotten it up to snuff for state inspection and also begun handling the same task for my dad's (wait for it...) new '98 Cadillac El Dorado. Every single time, every repair and every job, he's given us a fair deal and excellent work. Know this, if nothing else: I'll be going to no one else for a long time to come. As for what you can expect, and also to address some of the critical reviews against him... He'll explain the issue to you at whatever level of laymanese is needed, give you a fair quote, and ask whether he needs to pull the trigger. Often, on bigger jobs, he will ask for partial payment up front, but anyone who balks at that hasn't done much bulk or commercial/industrial transaction handling; 50% now, 50% at the end is a common practice. He can also help you get sorted for a state inspection, and if you're willing to undergo any necessary repairs through him, he'll get you turned around really quickly. Keep in mind, also, that you'll need to go elsewhere for wheel/tire work (Waldo Tire Warehouse a few doors down is a great choice, and they work together often), or something like an alignment; Mike and Bob strictly do mechanical and engine repair. No body or paint, either, at least to my knowledge. Lately I've seen a new face around his shop there, helping Mike and Bob out. A new apprentice, perhaps? Lucky kid, to get such a teacher. Bottom line is this: If you're looking to be pampered and fed sweets while an unknown greenhorn lackwit, or some other similar type, works on your car where you can't see or go back to, take your car to a dealership to get fixed, and expect to cover that sort of overhead with the rates they charge. If you would rather have a straight-up, no-nonsense veteran mechanic who's gonna fix your car as a matter of personal pride and not charge you an arm and a leg doing it (Small shop, small staff, and 50+ years of experience = low overhead), go see Mike and get your problem taken care of. No one is perfect, of course, but where Mike falls short, it's got nothing to do with turnin' wrench.

Horrible customer service! Was told that I need to pay $1,000 deposit before they even started to work on my car. Mike was extremely rude and apathetic, I wasn't seeking any handouts or deals. I requested a diagnostic and a quote for cost of repairs, which then I was subsequently told $1,000 will be needed to begin work. I have never heard of this and am extremely disappointed in the service that was provided.

Short Version: Mike does great work at a fair price and in a timely manner. You can trust him with your vehicle. Long Version: My 03 Grand Am wouldn't start, so I called the shop and Mike said he could look at it that day if I could get it there. It hadn't started for a few days, but I got lucky that day and I drove it to his shop. The engine coil needed replaced. He told me how much it would be (which was a fair price) and asked if I wanted it done. I did, and about 3 hours later he calls me and says it's done. A week later my check engine light comes on. I take it back to him and sit in the passenger seat while he does a diagnostic on it, and it's the catalytic converter. He asked me how long I wanted to drive my car, and after a quick talk, we decided on the part that best fit my needs. He had to order the part but got it fixed the next day. It is now 4 months later and I have had no issues since

Mike will always take care of you. Have been going to him for several years now. Won't take my car anywhere else.

The work was great and the customer service was great as well. Unfortunately the muffler they put on my car ended up being three times the cost then an average muffler for my car. When they told me that that was going to be the cost I was in a rush and just said yeah just do it, I needed the work done. When I thought about it and did some research found that the cost of the "standard" muffler for my car was way cheaper and they have replaced mine with a sports muffler. Just in case anyone was wondering I did try to race some cars after this and I have lost my pink slip.... JK But seriously why would you put a sports muffler on a 99 Subaru (non sports model) Other than that everything was great and would recommend these guys just be careful of what parts they are putting on your car.

Mike gave us a great recommendation on where to get a state inspection done - honest guy. Much appreciated.

Mike is the best mechanic! This was the best experience. It's never a good situation when your car is not operating as it should, but he really went above and beyond when helping me out. He was very easygoing and honest with me. He fixed my car and drove it three separate times just to be sure. Very reasonably priced and explained things so even I could understand them. I'll definitely be going back to him! 10/10!

This is a great auto shop. Mike and Bob Gore own and manage the place and they do very good work. Everyone is very professional and does top quality work. The shop itself is not fancy in appearance, but I would rather have quality work at a good price than a slick looking shop that does shoddy work. I needed to have my fuel pump replaced on my pick-up and they did the work in a timely manner, got the fix right the first time, and it was more affordable than other area shops. I'll continue to use Gore Automotive in the future.
