Swung by with some check engine lights on as I was heading out of town the day after thanksgiving. Graham wasn’t able to do a full inspection but helped me understand the codes and their severity. Super friendly and willing to help

I wrote a review earlier but removed it because I had to go in to more detail. As I said before, Graham was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and fair with price. But after I wrote that review, a lot happened. My car started having some problems that were not present before my car was fixed. Graham was kind enough to accept me dropping in on him and even was nice enough to help resolve the issue for free. He even went as far as calling me to check on how the car was doing once he released it to me. Now that’s service! I definitely recommend this shop for someone who wants personalized and thorough service.

Best mechanic in Portland! Always very honest services- they will fix your car up right and never upsell you or take advantage of you. I have come here several times and even when they could make more money off me, they are up front about which services are a safety issue and which can wait. Quick turnaround time. Even went above and beyond offering me a free second opinion and squeezing me in last minute before I went on a trip. If you seek a mechanic look no further

If you're looking for a knowledgeable, professional, and especially honest mechanic, I highly recommend Hansen Mechanical for your vehicle's service. I called about getting my Prius engine misfires diagnosed, and Graham (the owner) got me in the following week. Graham was thorough about the diagnosis and explained the tests they performed and the issues they found. The price was reasonable. Graham really cares about making sure you understand what is going on with your vehicle and what the necessary repairs are. I will definitely seek his service in the future with any other vehicle-related needs!

I had a really good experience here. The mechanic is very honest and really took the time to explain what was happening. Prices are fair and he didn't try to upsell me on anything. I came here on a recommendation and I'm so happy I found this place.

It’s really great to have found a reliable and honest mechanic that will stand behind their work. I really appreciate the way that Graham explains what needs to be done and actually understands what a pain and expense cars are. I have had oil changes, brake replacements, and other larger repairs done here on my little hatchback. I have had such a headache with car shops in the past, so glad to have found this shop! 🤸

Graham and his team are honest, fair, and reliable mechanics. His shop was recommended to me by a friend, and I’ve never been disappointed with the treatment and service I’ve received. For 3 years Hansen Mechanical was my go-to place for maintenance on my Kia Sedona mini van. If I still lived in Portland, I’d still be going to see Graham. I recommend that you do, too.

Graham was not only professional, but kind. My brakes had given out and he managed to fit me in within a couple days. He explained to me the cause of failure and the purchase options for replacement parts. He was conscientious about ensuring the brakes were fully functional and well tested before returning the car to me. I highly recommend Hansen Mechanical!

The makeshift sign on the door at Hansen Mechanical says “Proper Automotive Repair,” and that’s an excellent description of what you’ll get here. Graham and his team have a deep, “old school” knowledge of cars, and they went above and beyond to take care of mine. After a positive experience getting my brakes repaired here, I decide to have my timing belt replaced. Unfortunately, the team discovered some damage to my engine from a previous accident that made the repair a lot more complicated. I thought my 2002 Honda might have reached the end of its road, but Graham patiently worked to fix it and eventually found a creative solution that saved my car. I know he put in a lot of extra work, but my total was only slightly higher than the estimate – and well within the Kelly Blue Book “fair repair” price. I especially appreciated that he explained every step of the process without talking down to me. It was clear enough that I could explain it all to my dad, who felt confident that I was in good hands. I’m thankful to have found Hansen Mechanical and highly recommend the team for quality workmanship and integrity.

Been working with Graham since 2015 and he’s straightforward, honest, and direct about what the car needs but what can wait awhile. I always leave a little more educated about how to do better for my car, feeling good about my ride, and glad I found this top quality mechanic!

Hansen Mechanical is hands down the best shop in Portland. I'm not exaggerating when I say they saved me THOUSANDS of dollars compared to other shops in the area. The work is top notch, and Graham is kind, honest, and straightforward. Highly recommend.

Great mechanics, reasonable with scheduling and how long a job takes, will help you triage your vehicle's needs. They've saved me thousands of dollars by giving me good direction in a second opinion on an estimate from the dealership. Isaac and Graham have both been professional from my first visit with them. I am stoked to have a mechanic in town I trust and always recommend them.

The folks over at Hansen Mechanical are thorough, honest, and do fantastic work. I greatly appreciate Graham patiently diagnosing my old truck and then even more patiently explaining the issue to me and fixing it! Great location in SE PDX, and they have a secure facility where they are able to leave all cars locked behind a gate if they aren't pulled inside. I will continue bringing my vehicles to them and recommend that others do the same if you are looking for a solid mechanic!

This is the only place I take any of my vehicles to. They are very thorough & are good at double checking the functionality of your vehicle before you retrieve it. They are honest about any issues that arise with your vehicle and will let you know which items are most pressing and which items can hold off for a bit.

As usual, Hansen Mechanical gets the job done professionally and reasonably priced! We've been going to Hansen Mechanical for four years now and have never been disappointed or mislead!! Their expert repair in German cars are on par, and/or exceeds the dealers! We have two Audi cars and Graham (Owner and ASE Master Mechanic) stands behind their work 100%.

I’ve been going to Graham for 3+ years now and feel incredibly grateful for his and his team’s work. He’s very honest, persistent, and the work is fairly priced. The few experiences I’ve had with other mechanics in town that have left me feeling like I couldn’t trust anyone to tell me the truth about what was going on and like I should just give up on my car all together. Graham has restored my trust in both (some) mechanics and in my own car, ha! He is very careful and persistent in getting the right diagnosis and if it for some reason isn’t right, he’s straightforward and will try again- all at a fair price. Thanks Graham and Isaac.
