That time again to get my old car smog checked. This is my first time at Hollywood Auto and I was super pleased. It cost me less than 40 dollars and took them 15 minutes. I was in and out so fast. They were super nice to me and did not try to rip me off as some do to women with an older car and say it need this and that when I know it is fine. I take excellent care of it. I will be back. You will like these guys. Happy New Year.

Great mechanic shop, workers are all trustworthy and do great work on cars. Went for oil change and they checked for tire pressure and other issues I wasn’t aware of. Very considerate and caring, not to mention prices are very fair!

Just asked the problem with the car and they said I’m not teaching you. As I’m paying I just wanted to know the exact part for the issue for the future of my car and they willing to not share the problem and asking to pay me. I told them isn’t it fair to just ask the problem but they replied with I don’t want to do it anymore so it ended up not finishing it. I’ve never had such a bad service before. Okay there might have been a miscommunication then. First, I never asked you to teach me how to fix it. I was willing to pay and not trying to fish you guys for free fix. I just wanted to ask what is the problem going on while you guys fixing it and me paying for it. I’d think I’d appreciate you more if you could just be more clear about before making a decision to just trying to kick me out under unclear situations by misunderstanding. That’s all. Just too aggressive I felt for the attitude with misunderstanding.

The guys at Hollywood star are great . Always professional and always knowledgeable about anything related to the car . Service all my cars with them regularly . Regardless of the car make they are quick and knowledgeable, always pinpointing and fixing the issue in a timely manner .

I had gone to several mechanics and smog shops trying to fix my little Mini Cooper. they all gave me the runaround and I was ready to just get rid of it. Then I went to Hollywood Star Smog and talked with Armen and I tell you, it was like my Lawyer walked into the holding cell and said " Don't worry, we're going to do everything we can." Honest and straight foward. Hollywood Star Smog Check & Auto Repair is A#1 in my books.

Been going here for years, lots of work on an older (80s) car. Hovik, Armen and George are all amazing every time. Super friendly and knowledgeable. No bs ever. I can't tell you how many times they've gone out of their way to help me out. Seriously good people.

Leaving a negative review as the guy who answered the phone on 9/7/20223 around 2pm cursed at me under his breath when hanging up the phone simply because I asked about a coupon. When calling back to confront the behavior he answered and said "This is a business stop calling. If you a have problem pull up". He's right it is a business which is exactly why he should not speak like that. Bottom line is that technician is a loose cannon with terrible customer service skills. ***Update was able to speak with the owner Armen who assured me he would handle the situation with the employee in question.

The staff at Hollywood Smog kept our car for several days to make sure it was repaired correctly the first time so we wouldn't need to return for the same reason. It was the 4th shop we went to and the only one capable of doing the repairs it needed. It's 45 minutes away from us and cost a few bucks to get done, but was well worth the time and expense that was put into it as it passed the smog test with flying colors and three years out, the car needed only minor adjustments to bring it up to code again. We have a 2001 bmw 325i coupe that's fun to drive, easy to park, gets great mileage & fits in our 1930's garage. Hollywood Smog has made it possible to keep enjoying our car much longer than we ever expected to. Heartfelt thanks to them for all their good work.

This is a STAR station that does smog & repair. The guy says $80 + certificate fees, 35 minutes. An hour later, he says the car didn't pass, and he doesn't work on my type of car to make it pass, I have to go elsewhere. That'll be $80. They are a Smog & REPAIR station, not Test ONLY. He should have told me up front he wouldn't be able make any adjustments if the car didn't pass. Excuse me, but at the time your guy said the car didn't pass, i asked about making repairs and was told you didn't do them and was referred to Pinky's. Pinky said they would have to do a full tune up but that i should go to smog and repair station and recommended you. i came back and asked why i was told you didn't do repairs? i did not ask you to illegally pass my vehicle. Your report says the car failed due to the Ignition Timing Check being out of tolerance. Having had this car smogged several times in the past, the low numbers indicate that the timing is off and i asked if you could adjust the timing, which is what the car has needed in the past. There is nothing illegal about asking if you can correct a timing problem.BUT, your guy should have said up front, WE DO NOT REPAIR old VWs. i would have gone elsewhere.

This place is awesome. I have some quirky cars (lotus and a subaru BRAT) and they're honest and fair in their pricing and deliver quality services. I had other specialty testing sites try to gouge me on pricing (literally double these guys) but these gentlemen did not. They told me if it would pass/fail and handled it accordingly. Nice to see honest mechanics out there. My first choice for my cars.

UPDATE: 08/20/2022 Still 5 🌟. George is my go to for all questions I have regarding my vehicle. I wouldn't go anywhere else nor would I trust my car to anyone else. UPDATE: 10/19/2021 This is the ONLY place I trust my car to. I never feel cheated or afraid that I'll be overcharged or lied to because I'm a female. They answer every single question I have regardless of the simplicity or complexity of it. All these years later, STILL FIVE STARS! =========================================================== I came here for the required smog check to renew my registration and I was pleasantly surprised. The place is very clean and organized, the price was right (plus I had a coupon!) and the gentleman that helped was very polite, as well as efficient. I was in and out in less than 20 min, considering there were other people. I would definitely trust my car to this establishment.
