I highly recommend Hutchinson Automotive for all your VW needs. They are honest, fair and straight shooters-no upcharging or finding ways to increase their business and your bill. They tell you exactly what the trouble is, and break it down (for those not in the business) to be easily understand. They make going to car mechanic-a pleasurable experience despite the circumstances.

I do not know the last time I had such a great experience with a mechanic. The last few months, I’ve had a few issues with my Volkswagen (some caused by unintentional damage) and I went to the VW dealer. I dropped thousands, and when they called me back they had several hundred dollars-worth of further parts that needed fixed. I went to VW for an oil change later on and they found my power steering rack needed replaced, for which they quoted me nearly $3,000 & said the part would take weeks to arrive. I heard about Hutchinson from a friend, and Heather immediately made me an appointment. They quoted me at $1,000 less than the dealer for the same work/parts. The part came within a few days of scheduling the work. I arrived the day of the repair, and Alan knew my name and was expecting me. They called during the day and said another part needed replaced, which they already found in stock in town for a reasonable price. When I got my car later the same day, he showed me the old broken part as I had requested. He also told me he had fixed a couple of faulty sensor lights he noticed on my dashboard (no charge), both which I wanted to fix but didn’t want to pay the dealer for. I am so pleased with how quickly and transparently Hutchinson helped me with this repair, it was not stressful or uncertain like it was at the dealer. I would very highly recommend them to anyone with an Audi/VW. I will be back.

Can't recommend this place enough!! Miss Heather was great and very communicative with the process, clean and to the chase! The technician was very skilled and knowledgable, I'm actually surprised they told me my core support is damaged (it is, but functional) and didn't pressure me in getting it fixed besides a "Hey, this is all your car needs now and you'll be golden"! Timing chain issue replacement was ~1300, dealer wanted to replace the engine for 10 times that amount. They were able to get it done within a couple of days - amazing! Definitely coming back here for all my VW repairs :) ! 100% amazing, 100% satisfied, 100% recommendation. I'd give them 6 stars if I could!

Greatest customer service in Birmingham anywhere. If Allen or Heather says it's going to happen it will happen. It will not take 3 months unless parts are not available, they jump right on it, stay in touch and let you know what's going on the whole time. Treat you like family, you do not get that at your local dealership unless you're buying a new car... The service is great. I would recommend them to anyone I know.

Hutchinson is THE place to bring your Audi! I would not even think about going to the dealer again. I have being using them for years. The pricing is fair and he explains the problems and other potential problems to watch for. A very talented and knowledgeable mechanic and honest!

We have used Hutchinson Automotive for years. We always get an appointment within a few days, and the car is ready at the end of the day. They are super fair and honest. There repairs are top notch and we have never had an issue with any of them. When they fix something they fix it and it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. I highly doubt that they have a boat they are paying off as the car guys on NPR were always joking about. It's a family owned business and real a treasure for Birmingham to have. Before COVID they would drop you off at UAB and pick you up again. I am not sure whether they are doing that now or not, but now I either bike or walk to work from their shop for my repairs, as it is not too far.
