I've been with this shop, and Al Prince, since they were Honest Engine of Midtown, Sacramento. I respect their competence and integrity, and feel respected in return as they patiently satisfy my questions. I wouldn't risk going to another shop unless forced to because finding out if a business is reputable is hazardous and hard work.

IRC was amazing. After a Toyota dealership graciously tried to help fix our 2004 MR2 over a 19 month period - and eventually giving up - IRC took on the impossible. They quickly diagnosed the issue, found the rare part and got or MR2 running again no time. They went above and beyond and were super friendly too. If I could give more than a five star I would.

I recently visited Import Repair Center (IRC) to address a check engine light issue on my vehicle, and I was quite disappointed with their service and pricing. Firstly, IRC recommended a diagnostic check which cost an exorbitant $200. This was particularly frustrating, as I had already received a free diagnostic at AutoZone, where they identified the issue as related to the coil and spark plugs. Furthermore, another nearby auto shop charges only $110 for the same diagnostic service, making IRC’s rate seem excessively high and unjustifiable. The most troubling aspect was the repair cost estimate. IRC quoted an outrageous $800 to replace all four spark plugs and one coil. In stark contrast, another auto shop just 800 feet away quoted a much more reasonable $267 for the exact same service. This significant price discrepancy suggests that IRC is overcharging for their services. Additionally, the reception process at IRC was inefficient and slow. The two elderly gentlemen at the front desk took an unusually long time to type in the details of my issue, which added to my frustration. Given the excessive charges and the sluggish service at IRC, I cannot recommend this shop. Potential customers would be better served by exploring other, more reasonably priced options in the vicinity.

Absolutely NOT a trustworthy mechanic. Will gouge you and plunge your family into financial hardship, and give you back a car with remaining or new problems. Save yourself thousands and go to a Midas instead. Pretty unbelievable, Jim, praying for ya.

Jim and his crew are absolutely amazing! I have been having transmission issues and was told that it needed to be programmed. We took it to Jim and he 100% confirmed that it was indeed my transmission and nothing to do with it being programmed. Jim is extremely honest, professional and has amazing customer service. We will be back in the future to work with Jim. I should have brought my vehicle here from the beginning.

Radial Tires on Cottage referred me to IRC. Outstanding experience with them. Issues with alternator were resolved swiftly and costs were reasonable. Also enjoyed visiting their two dogs. 😁

After going to them for many years, I unfortunately saw the true colors of this outfit when they refused to install a used motor to my Civic. Jim Jr. said they will only install a reman motor either for $5,500 or $7,000 depending on reman motor selected since installing a used motor would be too risky since if anything went wrong they would have to do the same job twice. I ended up getting the work done at my previous mechanic a shop Global Auto Repair in Sacramento & got the job done & was able to have a used motor put in with a warranty. I considered Jim Jr. more than a friend at one point, but when he refused to take a chance that's when I realized his spiel about entering as strangers & leave as friends was a bunch of baloney. Good bye Jim & Laurie; not ever coming back. You lost a loyal customer. In addition, because you already know that I sell cars for a living you also lost all of the referrals that I could have given your company since I come across a lot of people that are often times looking for a repair center they can trust & count on to get the job done. In regards to Laurie's rebuttal. Hi Laurie, I already spoke to Jim Jr. quite some time ago about where I had a used motor put in to the Civic. I also know it's within Jim's rights to turn down a job. I simply felt that the public needs to know that there are repair centers out there that are willing to offer more options. In addition don't insult my intelligence in regards to the true reason why Jim Jr. refused to do the job & in the future don't use the word "morals" in your rebuttal to deflect since the real reason was because it was a business decision that Jim Jr. made. The best analogy is similar to when a job applicant turns down a job offer from a potential employer for a range of reasons whether it be due to compensation, benefits, etc. -Herb with the Civic

I have been going here for years and have had them take care of 4 of our cars. The mechanics I know take their cars here. They treat you like family and you can trust them(super rare!)

I have been taking my vehicles here for about 12 years now. I can confidently say that this is a shop I trust to do the right thing and even if something isn't corrected, they will go above and beyond to ensure that it is. I moved about 6 years ago an hour away, but I still take my cars here because I just know that I don't have to worry if they are trying to screw me over or charge me for something I don't need. Jim has always been upfront and forward with me and that is something I have found lacking in quite a few shops I've been to (not saying all are bad, but when you find one that works for you why go somewhere else?). I'll continue bringing my car here for any and all work needed. Thanks for being trustworthy.

I had a wonderful experience with this shop. They handled an insurance claim plus some repairs that were needed. The prices were in line with what I ve seen in Sacramento and online. I personally will be back.

If you want things done right and appreciate thoroughness, these are the people who will do it. I take both of our cars here for everything from transmission issues to a simple oil change. They'll get the job done and make sure to let you know what may need to be replaced/adjusted, but not in a pushy manner.

Always love their service, always a quick turnaround, usually done the same day for small issues. Had a battery die under warranty, dropped off an hour before closing, it was ready an hour after opening the next morning.

On a Friday afternoon, I found out that my car's Catalytic Converter, had been stolen. I called IRC, as they are local to me, and he said that if I needed some assistance that they would be willing to help. he came over an made sure that none of the pipes were dragging and then We drove over to the shop. He worked with my insurance company, and a couple of days later I was out of the shop with a Catalytic Converter. The Owner offered to pick me up so that I could even get the car. I would and will most likely be bringing any repairs that I need done here. Thank you.

This shop is one of the best in Sacramento...family owned and operated...really down to earth people and excellent mechanics... excellent work...this shop won't over charge and they get the job done with the highest standards...Thank you IRC...highly recommend.
