I dropped my car off with a single complaint. There was a shimmy when driving at freeway speeds. They called and said that a lower control arm needed replacing and also that the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced as well. This all sounded feasible enough. When I picked it up and drove it on the freeway again, I had the same shimmy. A pretty severe vibration in the steering wheel at freeway speeds. I took it back and was told that it needed wheel bearings on both front wheels. I hesitated to take their word for it, discussed it with my wife, and we called and talked to Kathy who offered a 15 percent discount on the job so we went ahead with it. I picked it up for a second time, took it on the freeway, and the vibration was still present. I'd been assured that they had driven it and tested it for the shimmy. I called again and Kathy asked us to bring it back so they could balance the tires and see if that fixed it. We did. I picked it up and the shimmy/vibration seems to be mostly resolved now but the check engine light is on now. As in, I turned the key when picking it up and was greeted with the check engine light and the 'D' light blinking on the transmission selector. I think that's going to be the end of my relationship with John's at this point.

on april 21 2023 I asked owner cathy and her assistant mgr Duncan to remove my engine and install a re conditioned engine purchased from auto zone at rt 161 and the inerstate 71 freeway.. for 14 months I kept going bk for oil leaks on my garage floor.. It was always someone elses fault,, I spent much time and money going to there sugested places but to no avail.. finally a week or so ago Duncan decided it was the rear seal that was the problem all along,, I took it to Alfedos repair shop and auto zone sent the rear seal... after the shop took the front end of the trk all apart they realized it was not the rear seal but the fact that back in april of 2023 instead of buying a new pan gasget for the reconditioned engine (75.00) they chose to use the old one from the motor with 227,000 miles.. so 1150.00 dollars later there are no more leaks =( cathy is a very nice lady but she counts on her assistant mgr who is a techie and not a mechanic way to much... at first meeting I was all in,, sorry,, but now almost a year and a half later I can not recommend john's auto at all.... to bad !! b4 all this happened I took my trk in Johns for a oil change and grease job... told Cathy when her mechanic checked the tire pressure I needed 60 psi in front tires and 80 psi in rear tires... I assumed she marked that on the work order........ well guess what,, when I picked my trk up I started to leave and decided to ck air pressure ,(just because ) the mechanic decided all four tires should be 35 psi,, =( then I cked for the grease fittings and nothing done .. Duncan ,the assistant mgr ,, said newer trks have self contained grease fittings and don't need grease,, and they can't grease these old trks.. so they sent to auto zone for a tube of grease for grease gun... Duncan crawled under my trk in the parking lot and attempted to find all the grease fittings !! I paid for these services and was really disappointed,, makes me wonder if I did get an oil filter ?? I think cathy is a really good person,, but is so busy she counts on the people around her and nobody ckes the work =( I hope things get better for her,,,,

We’ve been using John’s Auto for about 20 years on several different makes and models! Cars, trucks and SUVs. Now our adult kids use them too. Kathy in the office is amazing to work and they ALWAYS do great work! They’re fairly priced and most importantly they’re HONEST & trustworthy! Don’t hesitate to use them.

AMAZING! Our Sienna died in the driveway at 6am as we were about to drive 14 hours to New England for Christmas. 2 other mechanics couldn't fit me in for an alternator replacement that day, but Kathy said "We'll get it done." Not only did they get it done as promised, they also stayed late until 7pm to replace a bad radiator that I had been procrastinating on, and didn't charge me labor for it since they were already in there (but definitely spent extra time on it). At 7:30pm on Dec 21, we were able to get on the road. Kathy and her team literally saved our Christmas! Incredible experience and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Can’t say enough good things about John’s Auto. They worked me in same day as it was an “emergency “ very thankful for their honesty! Will be going back! Another company “did” an alignment, I didn’t feel right took car to John’s and so thankful I did or my new tires would have been damaged, photos of when I arrived, then once they were done!

I'd been gifted an old Jeep at 170k miles only for it to start breaking down soon after. No one but John's Auto could have taken care of the transmission's replacement, axel replacements/repair in such a timely and considerate manner. I practically got my car rebuilt here and thanks to them I have a reliable car- highly, HIGHLY recommend them for your auto needs. It's worth mentioning that I'm also a woman and can recommend other women to come here; I can vouch for John's Auto.

This is the Worst repair shop I have ever used. I live nearby and I had been bringing my vehicles here for years. The last major repair I had from John's was in August 2020, John's replaced my Power steering pump for $941. Two years later, 9,800 miles actually and the power steering pump needs replacement again and John's is refusing to stand behind their work and instead are blaming the parts manufacturer. Now two years later I have to take my vehicle to a different and hopefully reliable repair shop this time and replace the power steering pump again after it we just two years ago. Mery Christmas Johns auto!! Thank you for ripping me off for $941!!

We have taken our car there for years, but recently the quality of repairs and service has completely plummeted. We decided to take our car to a near by shop. Having steering issues. They told us we needed a new power steering pump. We called John's, and they told us, the part is only guaranteed for 1 year, 12,000 miles. It's been about a year in a half, and 9000. I only drive to work and back. This should never have happened. I also feel since this is a "neighborhood " shop, they would want to take pride in there work and make things right. We aren't looking for a hand out just some responsibility for a repair that frankly should have lasted for many years! Alls we got in return was a bunch of horrible attitude and blame that the part must not have been quality. Now a week and a half before the holidays, we have to shell out another 900+ dollars for repairs and replacement! My husband and I both work with the public, we will make sure to tell our friends, clients and family, never to give this place any business!

AMAZING!!! No BS. In 51 years of taking my car to a repair shop for whatever it needs there is no place that truly comes close to John’s Auto. Bottom-line, John’s Auto is incredibly honest, competent, quick and price sensitive. They are a breath of fresh air in a industry that is filled with smiling charlatans that will often rip you off. I used to go to Firestone but noticed whenever they had something difficult to repair, and no one their could fix it, Firestone would regularly ship it over to John’s Auto to take care of it! Talk about the competition giving them a ringing endorsement—and they are not the only place that send their “problem cars” to John’s Auto. Anyway, on top of all this, Kathy, the owner is an incredible delight to work with and has deep knowledge like nobody’s business. She listens to what you really need and will talk straight in terms of telling you what is really going on. Her pricing is always reasonable and will attach the Costco discount on top of her already (very) reasonable price (if you are a Costco member). There is no one like this place — truly.

I enjoyed working with the people at John's Auto Service, managed by Cathy, a people person who is the face of John's. They have been pleasant when I come in repeatedly to check on my car because of no call backs about the status of my SUV when promised often. John's was seemingly optimistic, yet unsuccessful, regarding fixing what should have been minor problems. The first visit I ended up with a bill, with the power steering still completely disabled, exactly as it was when I brought in the car THREE WEEKS EARLIER. The dealership fixed the power steering in two days afterward. Conveniently located near my place, John's would have been a great experience had they only fixed the problems they were paid in full to fix. It was great I could walk there for updates, because they kept my car for TWO WEEKS this time for a dented wheel I dropped off, paid for, and then picked up in IDENTICAL BROKEN CONDITION, if not worse! This time almost $2,000 was paid! All the whike the wheel still bent, the car still swerving and uncontrollable. The tire light and slippery alert lights are still on. I'm lucky I made it back the one block to my condo... It took a lot of work to control the car. Maybe they tried and failed to fix the power steering again while giving me the run around. Incomplete work, dangerous repairs... At least the long term parking, which is all it was, wasn't an extra charge. Oh, well it might have been. I feel taken advantage of and robbed. I foolishly thought the woman manager would be trustworthy, not shame me, and have compassion for my lack of knowledge about the inner-workings of cars. Shame on me for trusting a mechanic twice. They did not upsell me on anything. They were fast and efficient, and reasonably priced (everything is expensive anymore 😐). I enjoyed meeting them and will be a return customer

Valvoline forgot to put oil in my motor, it was damaged, they towed the car to John’s’s Auto to replace the motor, this shop kept the car almost a month and they left me a trail of mess, they put the Motor in the car, broke the brake lines and denied, all sensors loose hanging, AC disconnected, my coolant reservoir was loose and I asked them the bolts they said they didn’t touch it!. I asked them how much to fix the Brie lines they broke? They said $2000 and 3 weeks, I towed the car fixed the lines for $400 and was driving next day. Anyway I wouldn’t use this business, it is overpriced, overrated and unwelcome attitude.

What a great experience! Easy to make an appointment over the phone, then office manager was friendly and easy to talk with. She turned out to be equally pleasant in person when I took my car in. Super fast service, the work was guaranteed. She went over all the paperwork with me in detail. Highly recommend John’s Auto!
