I brought my car to this shop for a transmission repair, and unfortunately, my experience has been extremely frustrating. Not only did they fail to complete the work by the promised time, but they also added unexpected last-minute charges, including a $120 fee for replacing the transmission fluid. When I asked if there were any other issues with the car, they told me that while the bearings might need attention soon, the car was otherwise in great condition. However, the situation took a serious turn when I discovered that they returned my car with an empty coolant tank. I had been driving the car for three days when the engine light came on, and the car overheated last night and wouldn’t start this morning. I checked the engine and found that the coolant cap was open, with no coolant in the car. It was clear that they had forgotten to fill the car with coolant after repairing the transmission. This oversight caused major damage, and I had to replace the gasket and radiator. When I confronted the shop about this, they refused to acknowledge their mistake and denied returning the car in that condition. If you have your car at this shop, I strongly recommend double-checking all fluid levels and inspecting the overall condition of your vehicle before driving off. Their lack of attention to detail, failure to meet deadlines, and refusal to take responsibility for their mistakes show a serious lack of reliability. I would not recommend them to anyone. Don’t be fooled by their 4.9-star rating—it’s based on only 35 reviews. It seems they’ve taken on more business than they can handle, likely because of a few positive reviews, and now they’re refusing to acknowledge the issues they’ve caused. On top of that, their bathroom was in an unacceptable condition, with used toilet paper—some of it with feces—overflowing from the trash bin near the toilet. I wasn’t planning to write this review until the coolant incident.

5 stars all the way. John’s was recommended to me by a friend and they lived up to the expectations. I have a preference for the engine oil and oil filter I use for my 2005 Mustang. They were really accommodating and didn’t whine like other auto car shops about me bringing my choice of oil for my car. James was the one who helped me, super friendly and down to earth. While I was there, I also got my battery terminal fixed which was a bit loose, paid $60 for everything with a $10 tip which they absolutely deserved Only going here from now onwards, you can have the peace of mind here and you don’t have to be anxious about something wrong happening to your car. Thank you!

5 ⭐️! I have been a customer of this auto shop since moving to LA in 2022 when I bought a used car. I trust the owner Javier with all of my car problems, and hope anyone in the Silverlake area comes for the best service in town!

They can do any job at this place for great prices. They're good honest mechanics that can work on any job no matter how simple or how complicated. They're able to work on any car model from what I've seen. I've checked with few mechanics in this area and this is the best by far.

I had a warning light show up on my dashboard that I didn’t recognize and went to John’s auto repair. A super kind mechanic Javier looked at it and figured out it was my tires. He filled each of my tires and explained what he was doing and told me to just come to him in the future if I needed help again with them. He wouldn’t take any money and was so kind and attentive. Knocking on wood that I have no car issues but if I do, I’ll go back to John’s. I can see why they have great reviews! Thanks Javier, appreciate your help.

This guy ....I was there on July 3rd , he asked me to deliver a gallon tomorrow, I told him np. Realized it would be the 4th went back to make sure he'd be there,..he says yes I'll be here working.....I'm there 9am on the 4th, he's not there...waited around so at 1: 30 pm I was like he's not coming. He wasn't there on 5th 6th and Monday I called first thing. He says he doesn't want it, I wasn't there Monday morning, I said today's Monday....so let's just say not so happy about my experience.

Jon Auto Repair is a mechanic who maintains a reputation so, the customers are very happy and satisfied. Javier, was a manager who handled my Honda Odyssy car when I presented the engine problem, humbly he handled and checked until it was known there were some factors that must be fixed but nevertheless, he reset the computer so that the car was considered normal again but on condition that it must be drive for up to 30 minutes on the freeway. Hopefully what is suggested will come true. Thank you Javier for his honesty and there is rarely anyone like him in Los Angeles.

Very detailed vehicle inspection with excellent customer service! Javier did a fantastic job having my car inspected for a pre-sale. I didn't get the feeling of being "had" by another mechanic shop in the least. I have found my new shop in the neighborhood!
