His shop is definitely the cheapest in the area. Comparatively, the other shop nearby quoted me almost 3x what I paid to Ken for the same amount of work. What I loved about the way he does things is that he inspects the vehicle first before even giving a quote. Don't expect him to update you all the time on the status of your vehicle though. I think it's because he works on the vehicles himself and does the admin stuff also. This keeps the cost down. Some of the parts he used where from the manufacturer itself (I saw the receipts). Work done is of high quality of course. Will definitely be back!

Very knowledgeable. Willing to do the complicated repairs, and does them well. Brought my Jeep with a bent intake pushrod, they found that the pushrod lifter had broken due to a faulty pin. Tech recommended I replace all the lift rods and intake pushrods (incl intake and ancillary gaskets) to ensure others don’t fail due to stress from this or possibly other faulty pins. I agreed. A proper repair performed with OEM parts, at a fraction of the price of a replacement engine the last garage tried rip from my pockets. Jeep runs great.

I have really appreciated going to Ken's for car issues for the last couple of years. He has fixed the problem each time, and accommodated me even the most recent time when things were a little busy and I came late. And nice fellow as well.

Been going to Ken for YEARS. Met him through my moms boss, who is a lawyer. Ken has been very honest, gives you options, but is a no BS type of mechanic. Once its fixed its been fine! Doesnt Nickle and Dime you. Hes worked on all my cars, plus my mothers cars. 99 BMW 325i, 2001 BMW 5251, 06 Nissan 350z. My Moms 99, 06, and 14 Jeep Grand Cherokee, plus my wifes 2012 Scion xA . Never had any issues, fast, great work, great cost. You will never need to find another mechanic!!

I called 4 mechanics for an estimate for a diagnostics test and they all quoted 120$. Ken however did it for 35$ then proceeded to fix the problem within 3 hours at a fair price. As long as I own a car an live in the bay area Ken will be my mechanic.

He works on Saturdays!! He is a great man and a very skilled mechanic. Above all he is an honest man. He fixes problems so fast that it's hard to believe -- even obscure ones you'd think could take days just to locate the right part. You can go to lunch and come back and see your car (still) parked in the lot and you'll think to yourself "great he hasn't even started yet" until he waves you over and says "OK!" and hands you the keys. He is the master of alternators and seriously has one of the most effective networks for finding parts anywhere -- everything is always within a few hours' reach. He found and installed an alternator for my RV in two hours for 1/4 the price that two AAA-recommended shops spend one week each looking, tinkering, and charging me quadruple. Luckily they gave up and gave my money back so I could get it fixed at Ken's!! He spot-welds. Part of my suspension snapped and estimates nearby were for thousands. I took it to Ken and literally 45 minutes later he was done and asked for less than one hundred fifty bucks. I gave him twice what he asked for and I still felt like I took advantage. This is the only mechanic I've ever thought of tipping, let alone done it. This is an amazing man running an amazing shop, and I wholeheartedly recommend his services.

I will be honest. Ken's and I did not get off on the right foot. However, that is in the past and I want to review my experiences with Ken's Auto Repair. Ken's did a head gasket job and timing belt change on our 98 Forester, and did a good job at a very fair price. About a month later, the tensioner pulley failed, which I believe was the fault of the manufacturer of the part, not the installation. Ken's fixed the problem quickly on their own dime. My thoughts on the experience is this: Ken wants to run the best business he can. The 98 Forester is not an easy car to keep maintained, and as a result, he was honest with me that he preferred not to work on the car. However, he did end up doing the initial job, and was honest with me the entire time as to cost and time frame, despite the potential for failure based on the vehicle. When the part failed, Ken fixed it. He is a good businessman and good with Subarus. It's hard to find an honest mechanic, Ken is very much one of the best out there. If you have a Subaru that you have been putting off work on, Ken has proven to me he deserves your business. He won't lie to you, even if the truth isn't what you wanted to hear. He's a good man and runs a good shop.
