These Guys are THA BUSINESS.. I first encountered Lutz Tire about 14 years ago. I owned a car with a one of a kind, high performance engine. Notoriously, shops had butchered these cars (even dealers messed them up). I searched for an entire year for someone to replace the timing belt. I called Mike to ask if they were familiar with the cars and he told me to bring it in. He seemed to have every confidence that all would go smoothly. I took it in on a Monday and it was ready by Noon the next day and I've been going there ever since. I used to live in the neighborhood but I bought a house 90 miles away. They remain my "go to" Shop and over the last 10 years/ 400,000+ miles I have not suffered ONE break down with any of my 4 cars. I still do about 50% of the work to my cars but for harder jobs that a lift would make much easier or jobs I can't do, I get on the phone and make arrangements with Mike. Want a 20 minute oil change buy some distracted person with no credentials? You know where to go. If you ALWAYS want the job done right, go to Lutz. It takes as long as it takes. There's saying Engineers have, it's called the "Engineers Triangle". FAST / CHEAP / GOOD (you can only pick two). Well, "cheap" is always inferior, so just remember that..

They are willing to work on older wheels. They found a slow leak in my 1936 Cord 810 wheel was due to rust at the bead and fixed it. They also handled new tires for my 50 year old Jaguar XKE.

Long story short, I got an honest and trustworthy vibe from Mike and be had a reason to be a little annoyed with me. Also he charged me a reasonable amount for the actual work done + a tire. He could have padded the bill and I wouldn't have noticed it complained. So yeah, just go here.

1 hour oil change..got here at 1:20 it’s now 2:19 I get that they do it professionally and had to check it , but I’ve never spent this long in a shop , or nor do I even spend this long myself , I’ve done this before this time I’ve been to busy so I’d figure I’d bring it for a quick one but never again , if you guys have the time and patience come , but for a simple fast job not coming anymore and side note these guys just seem to take their sweet time walking around , I feel like the boss shouldn’t be the only one to make a decision on how much something is going to be, everyone should know there how much what will be what.

Thank you, Mike of Lutz Tires & Auto Repairs for saving our vacation. My car broke down on the freeway and was towed to Lutz Auto Repair. I am not from San Diego and concerned that I did not know any auto mechanics here. I discovered that Lutz is a member of National Automotive Parts Association (NAPA) AutoCare Centers, and they follow a strict Code of Ethics so customers will know up front what to expect. Mike was courteous and professional in diagnosing the problem then calling me with the very reasonable cost estimate and completion time – by end of day! An automotive breakdown could have been a vacation disaster. Thank you, Mike and Lutz Auto Repairs, for being another pleasant San Diego vacation experience.
