I have been going to them for many years (not anymore), but the new owners did rip me off big time. be careful...get a second opinion I brought the car back but you gave me the run around kept coming up with excuses. I ended up taking the car to another mechanic and fixed it already. thanks but no thanks...!

My Dad always took our vehicles to Gene Johnson when I was young. I have lived out of state for over a decade and just recently came back to town and had my first need for automotive assistance. I stopped in at Gene Johnson and Alex greeted me immediately when I walked in and engaged me with a very positive/professional demeanor. He took an interest in my situation, asking follow up questions to learn more about my vehicle and showed he cared by asking investigative questions to draw out more information than I knew was helpful to provide. He quickly deduced what my issue was, provided me guidance on when I should look to bring my vehicle back in based my situational usage and had me out the door and on my way in no time at all. No other team will ever get my family’s business when it comes to automotive repair/maintenance!

Amazing mechanic! They are very nice and very quick. They will never leave you without the entirety of the car fixed. I came in with a Buick that had several problems. They worked with me and kept me updated on the progress. I would highly recommend this place!

I came here with suspension noise complaint and high speed vibration. They first said they are almost certain that the problem is my brakes and sway bar links. I paid 820 dollars for that. No problem was solved. Exactly no problem. I took it to another mechanic. They found these guys used wrong parts for my brake rotor. I took it back to them. They checked my car for a day and said the brakes are okay and I have to pay 2200 for changing the struts as the noise comes from struts. I obviously refused and now another mechanic changed one cv axle for 200 dollar part and labor together and the noise and vibraton is gone and almost all other mechanics agreed that the only problem from begining was a cv axle. Not recommended at all. They do not find the problem and recommend changing the whole car parts!!

I have 2013 tundra with a 6" lift. Got an alignment in at a shop and my trucks Aframe began making noises too back to that shop with same results. Took it ME Gene Johnson in marblefalls, they discovered my stuff was only tightened to 80 pounds when it requires 220, also some stuff was upside down. After some adjustments and tightening my stuff my truck rises brand new, also programed my key fob for my truck, hands down an all around amazing experience and service. I will be taking this shop my truck for now on. Thanks for helping me out.

This was the worst mechanic I’ve ever encountered. They misdiagnosed the issue with my car and replaced unnecessary parts. When they realized their mistake, they had to check my car again—and charged me for labor on that second inspection, even though it was their fault to begin with. I do not recommend this place; it was a complete waste of money!

4 years ago I loved this place. Now, they are under New Management and ownership. The business is now split into two. The side where I used to get my oil changes is now owned by someone else. Their shirts said Kwik Kar. Don't go there ladies. They'll recommend things to you that you don't need. They make it sound as if it's imperative that you get it, and sell you based on "this is what your car manufacturer recommends". Don't believe anything they tell you. Tell them to ONLY give you what you asked for. They call it "upsale". They make you spend unnecessary money. I even reported them to the BBB.

Do they ask you to wear a mask: yes Do they have awesome service: yes Will I go back to them again: yes I had the check engine and battery light turn on on my Miata. I dropped it on a Wednesday and they let me know by end of day Thursday that they had everything fixed. They went through the whole car and also fixed my AC. Really great guys working at the shop. I'll definitely be back.

Been taking my car here for 5 years, now, and it's the only place I will ever take it. Everyone there is so on-point, informative, and friendly. They do incredible work at very reasonable prices, and continuously provide updates throughout the process. They've earned my trust and my respect 10x over- amazing team!

If I can give the place ZERO stars I would. I chose this place of business for automotive repairs in February based on the positive reviews I’ve seen here (which I’m now speculating were paid or compensated for in some way). The service i experienced was awful. Kyle at the front desk took advantage of me financially and was the most misogynistic and condescending mechanic I have experienced in this city. I brought my car in for a simple repair and was later charged almost $2,000 for repairs that were not needed and did not fix my initial concern. Which was a spark plug and ignition coil issue - the fix to my ignition coil was a ZIP TIE and the coil not making full contact with the spark plug (which would have been evident if they changed the coils initially). Kyle’s way of misinforming you is by rapid fire speech and useless information overload. I had to take out a credit card to pay for my repairs and I did so in good faith that this business was doing right by me. After over a week of not having my car (and having to bring it back!!) and of the back and forth visits with kyle - I was able to get the business owners phone number to report what I just experienced. He wasn’t much help either just offering me to bring my car back AGAIN and paying “just for the parts”. My father, who lives out of state, was able to visit recently and showed me how they zip tied the coils down and that the problem was the rubber boot of the coil stuck - resulting in not being able to make full contact with the spark plug. Since he fixed that my car runs perfectly. Almost 2k lost and a lower credit score is all I got by walking into this business.

My dad has been taking his vehicles to Bubba and Tommy at Gene Johnson since I was a young kid. Nowadays I take my two vehicles and it's the only place I recommend people go for their oil changes and any and all maintenance work cause these guys get the job done right and in great time. The cost is well worth it. You may be able to go somewhere for cheaper, but the work that's done there at GJ is worth every buck. They don't try to upsell you on different labors that will cost you more than what you originally came in for, it's just honest work done right. You guys rock thanks for doing what yall do 🤘

My entire family have been customers for over 25 years. During that time we grew to not only respect but trust M. E. "Gene" Johnson's with all of our car care needs. Not one time did I ever leave the shop feeling taken advantage of nor cheated. Bubba always provided clear and detailed information relative to my vehicle servicing needs and costs. There were never any "unexpected surprise costs." Recently, M. E. "Gene" Johnson's changed owners/management which has been terrible. Their attention to detail; customer service and level of honesty is nonexistant. My interactions with the new management have been frustrating and discouraging to say the least. They exemplify a blatant disrespect for long time customers and are putting profits over customer service. I was up charged; charged for work not needed and for work not done. When I questioned the office worker handling my vehicle he was rude and disrespectful. He cared less about maintaining a good relationship with me as a long time customer. Unfortunately, after 25 plus years with this company I will no longer do business with them. This new staff does not understand the importance of integrity; honesty nor of maintaining good customer relations/interactions. It's saddens me to see the M.E. "Gene" Johnson's people knew and respected disintegrate under this new management.

I’ve been going to Gene Johnson for a few years now and they are always respectful, helpful and timely. They feel like just an honest neighborhood mechanic. I haven’t ever had any trouble with work they’ve done on my car. Most recently I had to get my car inspected for insurance purposes. I was gearing up to wait a long time as I know they can be busy but Pat was so kind to just come out and give my old Corolla an inspection and then filled out my forms! Thanks Gene Johnson!

The previous owners of this place were top notch, but the new owners don’t know what they are doing. Pat told me they’d have it done by the end of the day if I had it there at 7am, a week later it still wasn’t done. I can get past the time delay, but the work they did was sketchy and sloppy. Pat convinced me I needed 2 new tires before they could do the suspension and 2 NEW TIRES WERE PUT ON THE WRONG SIDE, they did the suspension anyway, took it back to put the tires on the right side, said he was embarrassed and assured me if there was anything wrong to just call and they will fix it. He told me he himself has 2 daughters and wouldn’t want them driving an unsafe car. I paid $2600. Drove it out of the parking lot and the brakes were shaky and choppy. Pat was suddenly not willing to stand behind their work, implied I’d have to leave it for another week. No thanks. I wouldn’t even trust them to fix whatever they broke.
