I have driven many “quirky” cars with a vast array of issues, anything that could go wrong has. So when I heard new sounds and felt new feels when driving my Subaru, I took it right to the shop on a recommendation. They checked everything I had concerns about and called me promptly to explain everything. I discovered that I am paranoid of any little sound based on previous experiences in all those other cars I’ve had bad luck with- they gave me peace of mind that my car is fine and I can continue driving it safely. They are very kind, honest, thorough, and fair! Would recommend to anyone in the area.

My wife was in Indianapolis when her water pump went out on a Saturday morning. She was 6 hours from home and the mechanics at Makeshift Garage could not have been more helpful. They worked past their normal operating hours to get her back on the road to her family. Not to mention they did not price gouge her. They turned a stressful situation into a great experience. Thank you for being honest, helpful, and compassionate. We will forever be in your debt.

Highly recommend! My water pump went out while I was visiting Indianapolis and heading home. The guys at the garage were great! They got me in, explained everything to me, even took pictures of the damage to show me, and got me back on the road. If I lived in Indy they would be my go to garage!

Andrew from Makeshift Garage is an nice and professional Mechanic and Garage owner. His prices are reasonable, his analysis/diagnostic is right on the money and he will only perform maintenance on your car if it is absolutely necessary so you will not need to go into unnecessary expense . His work quality is great as well. Give him a call. You will not be disappointed

If you're reading this, just stop. Pick up the phone and give Makeshift a holler. This team is great, really down to earth people. I stopped by, chatted with Justin about getting my '21 CX-5 Turbo in for brake pad and spark plug replacement. I'm lazy after work and have stupid arthritis ever since I was 25, so I was more than happy to get some help with this shtuff. Justin made me feel like I was talking to one of my buddies in our garage, said he had availability pretty much any day I needed with a quick turnaround time (mind you, it was an easier job). Then, when it came time to bring the ole girl in - Andrew just really knocked it out of the park. I think I spent 30 minutes just talking about his beauty ('11 MAZDASPEED3) and a little about my SW20. After it was in, an hour elapsed and I was given a buzz about my pads - a dealer competitor told me that my pads were 30% wear and should be replaced. I went to Cleveland for a wedding and came back, thinking I would be in dire straits for a change... WRONG. They told me that I was about 40-50% AFTER the trip (with multiple accidents and semis in the FAST LANE, UGH). Great honest guys, no nonsense. I maybe a small half Korean, but dudes - Two thumbs WAAAAAY up. Glad to call Makeshift home for all my automotive needs in the future.

While I was in Indianapolis for GenCon my vehicle decided it was a great time to breakdown. The crew from Makeshift Garage were able to get me in and out quickly! Most importantly they took the time to go over everything that could have been wrong to make sure I wasn't paying for unnecessary parts and repairs. While I hope to never be in the position to have to go back there, if your local and are in need of a repair shop I recommend giving them a call.

I was told the compressor for my AC needed replaced by a different mechanic. I went to Makeshift Garage and they tested my AC and it only needed recharged. They are professional, nice, and explained everything. I highly recommended!

Today I met the two best mechanics I've ever met. Not only did they give me a lower quote than meineke they did all the work in one day. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. They are honest, kind and super nice. Go see them. I know I will be returning for my future work. 😁

Hands down the best shop around! They helped troubleshoot an issue with my car created by another shop, and were both incredibly diligent in figuring it out and excellent at communicating and explaining the issue to me. Truly honest and genuine guys who really care about the work they do, and it shows. Their prices are also markedly more reasonable than any other shop, which is an added bonus because their service is far and above competitors. They have my trust and forever business, definitely a hidden gem in the city!!

This place is worth going to..instead of listening to me about what i thought was wrong with my car (a starter issue) & putting the part on there that i brought to get some money out of me they actually checked my car out reached out to me & told me what was actually wrong he also told me the next issue that i need to take care of & what parts to get on top of that the prices are fair rather yu do bring yo own parts or they have to order them ill fs be using them whenever i have car issues & ill be letting other ppl i know to go to them also

I have a Kia which has been broken into twice now people attempting to steal it. The first time I went with my insurance company's suggestion Caliber Collision on Churchman Ave in Beech Grove, I was not happy at all with the work they did and actually they didn't even fix some of the things they were paid by my insurance company to fix and they had my car for over a month. So when it happened the second time I refused to take it back there so I took it to Makeshift Garage and I'm so glad I did. Not only did they do an amazing job in a fraction of the time Justin kept me in the loop letting me know what was going on through the entire process which lessened the stress of dealing with an already bad situation. They definitely know what they are doing and they do an amazing job. Anyone who needs their vehicle worked on I highly recommend you call them. You won't be disappointed, I will not take my vehicle anywhere else from now on. Thank you guys!

While I haven’t had any repairs done here yet, I brought a vehicle in for a pre purchase inspection. These guys did an excellent job and are very knowledgeable about vehicles, especially when it comes to questions about body work. Fair price and didn’t try to sell me B.S. services that I didn’t need. They came off as pretty trustworthy and good mechanics are hard to find so I’d recommend them, especially if you need advice about bodywork and used vehicles.

I had a small crash and rode on to the curb. I called makeshift garage as soon as they opened on Saturday morning and they were able to get me in right away to make sure I could still drive safely. They took time to check everything and help me through my concerns and fix what they could on the spot. They also advised me on what I needed to do to be able to drive the car in the long term. They only charged a small bit and were knowledgeable and kind.

I was an out of state prospective car buyer and was looking for a mechanic to do a pre purchase inspection for me that same day. Needless to say it was going to be challenging to find one. Spoke with Andrew and even though I believe he rarely does mobile work, he still managed to accomodate my request and help me. This guy saved me a ton of $$ by showing me that a vehicle that I would have bought, had a lot of issues. The inspection was thorough and included a lot of pictures. He called back and spent time to sit down, explain and report all that he have seen. All of my questions and concerns were answered. He even gave me estimates of possible work that needs to be done based on his experience. It was much more than I expected given the time frame. He definitely went above and beyond what I asked him and paid him to do. This guy has tremendous integrity in his work. Being from out of state, I would not have had the chance to oversee his work but despite that, I saw a job that was done right in spite of the not-so-ideal situation. I will not hesitate to recommend this guy and his shop and for the service he provided. Very professional, cordial and friendly, even for somebody who is from from out of state. Keep up the good work sir!
