Was having issues with my car and needed it looked at to figure out what was wrong. Just want to add that I’m a female I dread dealing with mechanics every single time I have issues. I’ve have mechanics try to take advantage of me because I’m a girl and don’t know much about cars. This shop offered to look it over for free. They ended up having my car for several hours and did a very thorough inspection on it and quite honestly, they should have charged me for this and didn’t. They gave me very reasonable options to get my car safely drivable. Instead of pushing to fix it, they recommend not putting a lot of money into my car as it’s 17 years old and high mileage, which I thought was very honest of them. They could have easily said fix all these things for a lot of money and I may have considered it, but the advice they gave was solid and I felt like were not trying to take advantage of my lack of car knowledge like some other shops. I decided to not have any work done and to sell my car after all, BUT this shop has now earned future business because of how honest and practical they were. I really appreciated their honesty. My husbands car ended up having issues this week and we plan to take it there. Definitely recommend this place. They have great reviews and I can see why. Great service and very thorough. If I could give a 100 star review, I would.

Went in years ago to discharge and fill my a/c on my honda civic due to me putting in some stop leak that I wanted removed. They kept my car there all day and all they did was top it off with Freon. Didn't do what was promised but still charging the full amount! After complaining they gave me a $10 discount on a valve stem that was replaced due to it leaking, and acted like they were doing me a favor. Total scammers.

Update. I spoke with Chris From Martins on 6/14/2024, in reference to this review and a few more I posted. The conversion was cordial at first. Chris had one concern and one only. He wasn't in the least concerned with the issues I posted about. He informed me the key fell apart in the technicians hand when he went to start the car. He also stated the cost of the coil replacement was fair. He further stated he felt everything was "fair" on Martins Auto's end of the transaction. I that point I informed Chris we felt like my daughter was not treated fairly with this transaction. Chris kept repeating as far as he was concerned we were treated fairly. At this point I informed Chris that this was a relationship that has ended and we'll have to go our separate way. Chris kept insisting he felt we were treated fairly and would I please change the reviews. I once again stated to Chris I would not change the reviews due to the over charge of services, paying for the key ( my daughter had to find alternative means of getting to and from work for 4 days due the Martins breaking her key), and poor customer service with my daughters vehicle. He again stated HE felt the service provided was FAIR and would I PLEASE change the reviews I posted. I had to keep informing Chris I would not change the reviews to the point I became frustrated and stated to Chris that this was now like a bad divorce and we both need go our separate ways and ended the call. Moral of the story? Chris From Martins Auto's Service was more concerned with my changing my reviews that he was with solving my issues. It's kind of sad this happened. Check your receipt! I took my car to Martins and was impressed with the high level of service and professionalism over a year ago. I have recommended Martins to associates and strangers alike. Each and everyone reached out and thanked me. They too were pleased and impressed. So why the low rating you ask? Recently my daughter had the check engine light come on in her 2015 Jetta. A family member changed her spark plugs and inadvertently, crossed the ignition coils for cylinders 1 & 3. Once again her engine light came on. I once again suggested Martins and she dropped off her car for diagnostic and potential repair. Within a couple of days they called her and told her the ignition coils were on the wrong plugs and her car was ready. The bill amounted to $132 to look at the coils and simply switch them. The next day she told me her car was still idling rough. I told her if it didn't improve to call Martin's. Once again her engine light came on. She took it back in. Now here is where I get confused. A year ago she had coil and plug service. They informed my daughter her coil needed to be replaced. She approved the repair and was told it would be roughly $302. I stopped in and informed the service writer for my daughter to call me. I also wanted the old coil to return to the other repair shop (it was still under warranty). At that time they told me the coil was fixed. The only issue was that had broken the key fob and was having a hard time finding one. They had her car for over a week. The bill total was $412.26. She was charged for the key fob she didn't break, charged $177.04 for the coil. I have no issue with the standard diagnostic fee, although I do wonder why it wasn't caught in the first diagnostic scan. Did recieve a 10% DOD discount on labor. Why am I salty? Again charged for the key she didn't break and overcharged for 1 ignition coil. Bosch and a variety ignition coils are between $44 for the Bosch and around $77 for high end coils. Entire coil packs for this engine (4 ignition coils) can be bought for less than the $177 she was charged for the single ignition coil. Am I disappointed yes. Will I ever reccomend Martin's again no. I do hope this was an anomaly and don't happen to others. Check what your charged with caution. I did not recieve a call prior to the repairs nor did I recieve the coil she would have been reimbursed for from the other shop. A Charlie Foxtrot all around.

I usually don't leave bad reviews, but when it's really bad, and the company refuses to take accountability, I'm going to. I took my car in on Monday. Turns out they had to change a coil that went bad, keep in mind just 1 coil was changed. I didn't get my car back until today which is a Friday. Mostly because they broke my key and had to find a replacement. Not only did the person who charged my card LIE to my face, saying they were "only charging me $15 for the key" THAT THEY BROKE, but as soon as I look at the receipt I noticed they actually charged me $28 for a key THEY BROKE. But also my tire light is on, and I came in with over 300 miles of gas, but now only have 170 miles of gas left. Not only did they lie to me and charge me double for something I shouldn't have been charged for in the first place and not compinsate me at all for having my car an extra 3 days while they waited for a new key, (I work full time) but now I have to air up my tires and get gas on my way home. Never going back to this place. I always try to help local shops, but this is ridiculous. I could've gone to Walmart and it wouldve been done in a day.

Chris and Joseph were really great. They really took time to get the bottom of my concerns as well as walk me through what their concerns on my vehicle were. I appreciate their accommodations in letting me come back multiple times and discuss over the phone to figure out the best plan of action in how much money to invest in an older vehicle. I appreciate that they also gave a “bare bones” recommendation of what needed to be fixed now versus later.

I will normally try a mechanic shop if their reviews are good. A number of Months ago I tried Martin’s Auto Clinic off of Culebra Rd. I took in my Honda which needed some major repairs done to it. I was very happy with the friendly staff at Martin’s and the quality work that they performed on my Honda. I told myself that I was going to write a review on Martin’s after I drove my car for a while to make sure everything was working well. My Honda is running great! My daughter had some major issues with her Nissan so I took it to Martin’s since I had a great experience with my car. Johnny B. assisted me with my daughter’s car. Johnny showed me and explained why my daughter's car was running as poorly as it was. I believe the price that was estimated for the amount of work that was done to my daughters car was fair. Johnny kept me informed on every step of the way. I believe Martin’s Auto Clinic and Johnny B. did an outstanding job fixing my daughter’s car. Also, Johnny was very polite to my daughter and myself. Thank you so much Johnny for the outstanding job! I definitely recommend Martin’s Auto Clinic!

I've partnered with many mechanic shops over the years. I'll give anybody an opportunity but oh my geez. Martin is a class act. He runs a tight shop, his staff are all professionals. The minute you see his shop you'll see the difference between him and the places you've been. There's a hidden gem sitting on Culebra road. When I need to keep my construction operation running, I tap Martin's Auto Clinic to get the job done! Do yourself a favor! Affordable doesn't cut it he's cheap! I'm 99% Mexican and 1% Jewish, I'm always looking for a deal!

Once again Martin’s auto clinic took care of another vehicle that I brought to them, this time my son’s! I constantly get asked if I know of a good mechanic? I always say and will continue to say No…I know of a shop that is great and has great mechanics! Martin’s has always taken care of whatever mechanical problems I have whether it be simple or hard they always do a fantastic job! I’ll always come here for any/all repairs and now my son has someone he can trust as well when it comes to fixing his car. Thank you to the ALL the staff for always doing an outstanding job!

The best shop I've been to in San Antonio. I've taken my older truck there for A/C, clutch kit, wheels hubs and each time they are top notch. Chris and Joseph were great. They are fast, friendly, and are honest mechanics. I've contacted other shops prior to discovering Martin's and the other shops were literally quoting thousands more, they'll have my business from here on out. Most shops around just like to replace parts rather than diagnosing the issue, these guys are legit.

Took my f150 to get it checked for weak start VS wiring harness. The guys took about 4 days but solved the problem. I was kind of hesitant leaving it there. The mechanis area is locked at night. This gave me peace of mind. The office and service was great. I will go there again.

Went into this place twice now and both times they've gone above and beyond. I had a new cat that sprayed and brought my car in to get the transmission fixed and warned them about the smell I was struggling to get out. When I got my car back the next day the smell was gone! They didn't ask for money didn't even mention they did it to get credit!! Outstanding character shown and awesome customer service. Highly recommend. They will make sure your vehicle is taken care of.

First time going to this mechanic. If I cant do it myself I'm very hesitant. About who I let under the hood of my vehicle. Took my vehicle in to get the alternator replaced. They worked at a fast pace with fair prices. They do offer financing through Synchrony Car Care which you do have to apply for through Synchrony. Definitely recommend.

I'm guessing the people who have had poor service here have just decided it's too much of a hassle to write a review. I went here because of the great Google reviews but beware, after my third visit and being stranded calling for a wrecker after leaving their shop I will not go back. Multiple issues from days and days of waiting to hear status updates to overcharging for parts to picking up vehicles and finding new and additional problems. Should have been smarter and not returned after I went to pick up my daughters vehicle and the battery was dead. They did offer to give me a jump start. Pretty sorry operation though. Amended 5/14/2022 The last repair Martin’s completed for me was replacing an intake manifold on my son’s car in June of 2021. The part failed and they agreed to honor their warranty on parts and labor and asked if I would amend my original review. They completed the repair in one day with several call’s to inform me of the progress…and only charged $10 as the car was low on gas when it was towed to their shop. I was appreciative that they honored their warranty and saved me the expensive of having the job done again at another shop.

SCAM!! WORST AUTOSHOP EVER!! I used them for about a year! They would constantly reassure me of the work they did on the car. I would pay for fluid top offs and they would say they completed it, same with the oil changes. I also had a few repairs done on the car. After a while, I got a weird feeling a repair wasn't completed and the next day brought it to a more reputable company. Turns out EVERYTHING they claimed they completed, they NEVER did and the reputable shop documented the photos for me of how the fluids, oils, etc. Also the repair they "did" they never did, because the reputable shop told me there was still a leak in my car and said that this part is not new and hasn't been changed out if it was recent. They took so much money from me and I was CONSTANTLY back at their shop every 2-3 months. Do not be fooled! They would claim they changed my filters, they never did. they claimed my brakes were great, they were completely warped. it's ridiculous how much stuff they "did" with receipts that they never actually did. Strongly advise against this company!

I've had multiples vehicles fixed at Martins over many years, and was generally happy. After two bad experiences recently its clear that they're not what they used to be. I let it slide last time when my fuel pump replacement and rear brake service was priced $200 higher at the shop than the quote was over the phone. This new price was given prior to the work being done but after my expense of being towed there. They said that the price quoted before must have been for a lesser quality part. Not a good excuse. I should have walked away. Today I went in with a different vehicle and they insist on a $95 diagnostic fee per issue with the vehicle. I've never had any diagnostic charge at Martins, much less multiple $95 charges on one vehicle. Now I use arrowwood automotive for my Honda. I need to find a Volvo shop now. I'm done with Martins.
