DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR FROM MACCABE! Recently just purchased a car from Jeremy himself. Would not let me drive the car off of the lot without him present. He Hid a plethora of problems when selling me this car. Said the car would drive to New York and back, yet couldn't make it ONE WEEKEND before needing towed after snapping the serpentine belt. Engine mounts blown and not brought up to me when purchasing the car. After driving the car home, i heard the engine hit the top of the hood. Claimed that there were no oil leaks, when i open the hood i see two different places that the oil was leaking from (valve cover gaskets, oil cooler gaskets) I found a binder in the back if the car with a TO-DO list after i bought the car, Not mentioning anything about the engine not being secure, or the serpentine belt that needed to be replaced. IF YOU ARE NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED, DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM THIS LOT. And given how the car was sold to me in the condition it was in, i would not trust the service here.

Careful, their estimates are not free!!! They charge an "inspection fee" to look at your automobile and they do not give you any warnings about this policy. We were quoted $1,300 to replace brake pads and front rotors on a domestic minivan. We thought the price was high and declined to approve the work, so we were charged $84 for the estimate, claiming the charge to be an inspection fee. Maybe this is just their policy and it has nothing to do with the fact we are senior citizens, but it seems like such a policy should be clearly posted and potential customers verbally warned since it doesn't appear to be an industry standard -- every other mechanic we have ever dealt with in the past 45 years has never charged for estimates. Could be it's a new trend.

Very nice and professional people, however, the estimate seemed very expensive so I had to go elsewhere. UPDATE: the second opinion was shocking! I didn't need anything except an alignment, so these seemingly nice people were going to overcharge me by over a thousand dollars for unnecessary services had I believed them. The second mechanic gently suggested that this is a common ruse used on senior citizens like me. Anyway, the automobile is running wonderfully and the repairs were under $300 rather than the $1300 I was quoted.

McCabe Auto has been a 5-star experience. Jeremy the owner and staff were all professional and honest. My Tacoma truck was making a vibrating sound, so I got an estimate from my local auto service “parkway automotive” in Fairfax which quoted me for a repair cost at $1,350.00 to fix an apparent catalytic converter issue. I decided to get a second opinion from McCabe auto, turns out the problem was the heat shield. The repair was fixed in 30 minutes for $88.00. Honest, reliable, and is highly recommend by my trusted neighbor Raymond who has been a valued customer for years... 5 stars for McCabe Auto!!!!!!
