Nice guys, but that's not good enough. I was really hopeful after reading all the great reviews of this place, but I did not have a good experience. I took it in for them to assess the suspension because it was a bit noisy going over bumps, etc. They said I needed new struts and shocks to the tune of about $2,000 ... I held off until I could get another opinion. I also had a bad smell in my climate control system. They charged me $175 to spray some foam air freshener into the vents and change the cabin filter, both of which I could have easily done myself at a third the price, and which didn't fix the smell anyway). When I went back and said I still had the bad smell, Paul said he would 'research it and call me back'; I never heard back from him. I took the car to another mechanic that a family member uses and loves. They were super friendly and professional, and said there's not a single thing wrong with my suspension, and documented with pics and video. They cleaned the heating coil which solved the smell problem. They even called a Lyft to come pick me up to retrieve it since I didn't have a ride. That's what I call customer service.

I took my car to the Jeep dealership this morning for its annual service and began to notice some strange noises when I left. The noises got worse as I drove so I called the closest auto repair shop I could find: Medlock Gulf. I do not know much about cars and all I could muster up to say when I walked in was "I think there's something wrong with my car... it is making weird noises.. could you please have a look?" They sensed my concern and when they came back in after inspecting it, they said my tire was about an inch or two from falling off and I probably wouldn't have made it home. I am so grateful for these men at Medlock Gulf who did what the Jeep dealership technician could not - i.e., make sure my bolts were tightened adequately after a simple tire rotation. Thank you again!!

Just really great and honest people! We started going here when we lived nearby and now happily drive back even though we live in midtown because they’re so nice. In the spring, our car had a recall with the turbocharger so we took it to the dealership. Recently, our engine started smoking so we took it here. It was the turbocharger again. The guys here told us they could fix it and what they’d charge but that, honestly, we should have the dealership fix it because they didn’t install in correctly. We did just that and saved thousands of dollars! We are customers for life.

These guys are great! They've taken amazing care of my wheelchair-bound father's car for years, even coming to the house to pick up his van for service!!! Now, they are always my first call when I need something for my car. They are trustworthy and skilled mechanics who give you an honest assessment of what is needed. You will get excellent and fast service here and save yourself a TON of money. Highly recommended for everything from routine oil changes to larger issues.

I requested an appointment online. Eddie called me right back to confirm. I also received a email confirmation. I dropped my car off at 8:00. I filled out a one page form with my info and description of the problem. I went to work. About 2 hours later they called to explain what needed to be repaired, the cost and estimate when it would be ready. I got a call around 2:00 saying the car was ready to be picked up. I was very happy with the service. It was a bit more expensive than I expected but I believe they were fair and the service was excellent.

I’ve come here for simple work a number of times over the years, including today for a new car battery and they replaced it right in front of me while waiting, showing me all the readings. Thorough crew that works there and nice as can be!

The most honest and customer oriented repair shop around. I have brought my car multiple times. Never been over charged… and in fact they some times point out where I can get things cheaper (even not w them!). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My family and I have been sending our cars to Medlock Gulf for over 15 years as well as referring all of our friends and family to them. They are amazing and I will never to go another mechanic other than them! I even go to them prior to buying a new car to ask if the choice that I'm making is a good one and what problems I might see on a regular if I make the purchase. I have gone against their guidance one time when buying a car and everything that they said would go wrong with the car did. Lol So I trust them and appreciate them beyond measure. I highly recommend them to anyone who is considering taking their vehicles to them.

I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. I brought my car here last year for a standard oil change and tire rotation, in addition to some new brake pads, and they were able to get my car back to me in three hours, without a hitch. earlier this week, I popped a tire hitting the curb, and when my spare went flat as well, I panic called them, and they were graciously able to squeeze me in the same day, even though my car could not get towed until an hour after I had told them when I was coming. They were able to get me a new tire, as well as a new battery within two hours, for a very reasonable price. I will never take my car anywhere else.

Best group of guys you could ask for. I have a theory, if you want to find a good reliable mechanic shop,just look around at how busy they are. If they are busy,they generally don't have time to mess around and give you a hard time. I recommend this place to anyone that needs there vehicle fixed and done right with no drama.

Piss poor customer service. I was told to come back with a man because “they’ll understand,” after I paid $450 for them to a replace a valve cover that did t need to be replaced, leave my car still leaking oil and very smokey, unsafe to drive. The manager Paul, is very rude and spoke down to me as if I were unintelligent, telling me, “you don’t go to the doctor and the doctor diagnoses you on the first try.” Very unprofessional. As a young woman, I would not recommend giving them service. Whether I was spoken to like that because I am a woman or because I’m black I’m unsure but that behavior from a manager is unacceptable.

These folks have saved me thousands of dollars in the 15 years I’ve been coming here. They are the only place I know that will remove nails and screws from tires and plug the leak. $20 for a repair instead of $200 for a new tire!
