My brother recommended his long time mechanic to me when my Subaru check engine light came on on my way through Portland on my way to Sacramento. Ron was fantastic and was able to give me exact information for what I needed. In short, I could drive home and have my mechanic fix the problem and he didn't charge me. Love a good honest auto repair shop....

Got some routine maintenance done plus some extra work in less time than they estimated! I received a recommendation to come here from my dad (who’s also in the auto industry if that tells you anything). They were very accommodating to an initial miscommunication and got my car in and out in less than two hours. Very honest and weren’t pushy at all about the extra work they recommended be done; answered my questions honestly and politely. There’s a reputation that mechanics have with their treatment of women but I don’t feel that way in the slightest talking to Aaron on the phone or Ron while there. They’re my go-to guys for my Subaru here on out 💯

Metro metrics is a great place to take your vehicle. They are the best mechanics. Ron is very friendly and upfront with everything that needs to be done with your car. I took my car there after a dealership. Could not figure out what was wrong. After 2 hours of them having my car, they fixed it 😁

The folks at Metro Metric are wonderful—my go-to body shop. I love that they always explain things kindly and candidly.

Been working with them for possibly 25 years!! They do fabulous work and are easy to work with!!

Not a down to earth shop like other reviews suggest. Expensive, very type A and unreasonably picky. If you’re a proletariat on a budget, go elsewhere. Recommends expensive parts and repairs for vehicles that are old and not worth much . Does not make sound economical recommendations suited to those with limited incomes. Will not work to get your vehicle back on the road in an affordable fashion. Go to a hole in the wall or / BIPOC shop! No shop is perfect, but at least they’re willing to keep your car on the road using economical means and won’t recommend that you drain your savings .

So happy with the service we get at Metro Metric. Ron is always friendly and very candid about what our older car needs. Prices are fair and you always know what to expect. Regular maintenance is the path to owning a car more economically, and we're so glad to have Metro Metric taking care of ours.

Great trustworthy mechanics.

Ron and the team at metro metric are the best! Honest, reliable and professional. I don’t trust anyone else with my aging Mazda, from big repairs to oil changes. They won’t do work I don’t need and when I need it, they get it done fast and right.

Went into metro metric with my is250 to have a dying car diagnosed; i had suspicions it was my alternator but just wanted to be assured, they told me it was only my battery and insisted they had tested my alternator, so i bought a new battery from them for 285, and two weeks later to no surprise the battery died again, i then replaced the alternator myself.

For 20 years they have been and are who I trust and go to.

Got recommended to go here by a neighbor. They are quick and direct with communication and polite to women customers, which is not always found. I have made this my regular shop.

I love this shop. This is the only place I go in Portland. I’m a small woman (I’m handy, but I don’t look it) and they never try to sell me brake light fluid or a new timing belt on my vehicle that uses a timing chain. I would send my mother to them with no hesitation, which is the highest compliment I can give to a car shop. They work fast and clean, and their communication is exemplary. I do lots of road trips and travel and they always make sure I’m good to go. (Also, don’t be intimidated if they’re scheduled out. My AC compressor blew and they had it fixed like the day after I dropped it off.)

I've been taking my car to Metro metric for over 30 years. They do great work and are honest about what actually needs to be done. Plus, they support classical music. The founder who passed away a few years ago love to go to Baroque music concerts.

Metro Metric has always been honest and fair with the work they do on my 2001 Honda Accord. They explain what they're doing and do a great job every time. My only complaint is that they can get booked out quite a ways, but it's because of their great reputation. I highly recommend them!

Always a great experience here. My subie couldn't be in better hands. I recently had to reseal the head gaskets/engine, typically with a 200k+ Subaru. My car drives like a completely different car, feels brand new. The price was also reasonable and they stand by their work. Highly recommend. Update: they continue to provide thoughtful and timely service. Ron is my car dad at this point. Grateful for the service!

Always great service. Never over charged.

Fast. Fair. Accurate. Honest. As good as these reviews say. We’ll be back. Car: 2014 Forester. Work: brakes, rotors, wash fluid hose.

Great folks great service trustworthy and friendly. We all know how hard it is to find a mechanic you can trust and I'm so thankful I have this place saved in my phone for whenever we need work on the car. Fair prices and timely service. I always recommend to anyone asking where to take their vehicles.

It has been years since I had been to Metro. I believe I had a 1996 Toyota Camry. I took Metro three repairs & one refusal. The boss was great. He explained the problems & what needed to be done. He told me I would not have to worry about the engine crashing when the timing belt broke because the engine would not drop. Guess what? The belt broke. The estimate was higher because there was a filter(+) under the engine that would be more expensive to repair on its own. So when the belt broke, they gave me a deal on both. Now I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute. It needed work, but the garage that worked on it before was 2 weeks out to look at or repair. They referred me to Metro. How happy I was to hear that.

Same positive experience. Also, Always willing to tell me what they expect to go wrong next and what symptoms to watch for.

Been coming here 6 years. Always the best price and always the best work in Portland.

Honest. Quick turnaround. Solid work.

I almost hate to leave a review since Metro is usually booked out several weeks in advance, and I don't necessarily want more competition for open slots... but it also feels unfair to not rave about such an excellent auto shop. I've taken my older car to Metro on a number of occasions for everything from an oil change to a transmission replacement. They're consistently professional, honest, and capable. They're also practical about what is and isn't worth doing on a car this old, which I appreciate, and no one has ever tried to pressure or upsell me—in fact, Ron once recommended I take my car to a specialist for a particular service in order to get a better rate. Their prices are always fair and their work is top-notch and holds up. And, importantly, everyone at Metro has treated me with respect. As a fairly feminine-presenting woman, I've met my fair share of condescending scam artists who think I can't tell the difference between a spark plug and a dipstick. The folks at Metro treat me like a human being, and it's a real breath of fresh air. I'd give 'em 20 stars if I could, and I won't take my vehicle anywhere else—unless, of course, Ron recommends it.

I’ve taken my Toyota to Metro Metric Automotive twice and both times were a great experience. They are excellent with communication on diagnostics and estimates. They are fast and their work is exceptional. I highly recommend this shop!

Kind, competent, honest, and reasonably priced!!! Metro metric came highly recommended by a trusted mechanic and they really saved the day for me!! I’m from Seattle but the clutch on my Hyundai started slipping really badly while I was in Portland. I needed to find a shop I could trust that would get my car road ready ASAP. They didn’t have appointments open that week (same as other shops I called), but they managed to squeeze me in while keeping my car safely stored over the week. Being stranded away from home was a bit scary and I was worried I was in a vulnerable situation to get ripped off. Instead, they took extra care of me and gave me a great deal and great service. They underpromised and overdelivered at every point. Car drives like it’s new again! :D

Nice, honest guys. Been going here for 10 years with my Toyota, and never once been disappointed.

i would trust these guys with my life, my limb, and maybe my firstborn child, not to mention my car. transparency is their whole deal — the first time i came in, just for a standard checkup and oil change, they checked out the past codes of my car (which i bought used) and let me know about the after-market exhaust system they noticed had been installed. the most recent time i came in, they were upfront about what was wrong and what potential fixes existed, how long i could go without replacing the part that needed to be replaced (and what the impact would be on my car), and the amount of time it would take to source a new one. plus, i’ll second the number of non-men who have commented that they appreciate the level of expertise and respect they’ve gotten here. as someone who’s had, uh, varied experiences with other mechanics, i have never felt pressure or condescension from anyone; Ron is kind, honest, and incredibly patient with every concern i have about my car, small or large. when i came in my very first time, the man behind me commented “these are the most trustworthy guys you’ll ever meet.” he was right. :)
