My wife and I had been dealing with vehicle issues for quite some time, bouncing between multiple mechanics… including the Kia dealership—who replaced the alternator and battery. Someone even suggested the starter needed replacing. It felt like a never-ending runaround until someone referred me to Mike Fints. I finally took my vehicle there, and Frank, who I believe is the owner… was my point of contact. He quickly identified the real issue: the timing chain. While inspecting other engine components, he also found that the camshaft needed to be replaced. After diagnosing everything, Frank called me to walk through the repairs, prioritizing what needed immediate attention and what could wait… at least to pass the inspection. He also replaced my tires, ensuring my car was in top shape. On top of that, Frank discovered a small but worn-out component that needed replacing. Since I didn’t have enough to cover it at the time, he took care of it out of his own pocket—which I truly appreciate. Thank you, Frank, for that! Now, over a month later, my check engine light hasn’t come on, and I’ve had zero starting issues. I purposely waited to write this review because sometimes early reviews don’t tell the full story. Frank is down-to-earth, empathetic, and transparent. He has a great sense of humor and extensive knowledge about vehicles. His shop is honest, fair, and reasonably priced—especially compared to most mechanics in the DMV area. The shop is located in Woodbridge, but it’s not far in… if you’re coming from the DC Metro area, it’s just the first exit after Lorton, past the Occoquan River. Beyond Frank, I also interacted with his son, who helped close out my service when I picked up my car. Though I forgot his name (apologies!), he was incredibly knowledgeable and walked me through everything. The entire team is phenomenal, and even if Frank isn’t available, everyone there is skilled and communicates well. The only downside? I wish they were open on Saturdays. Other than that, Mike Fints is the place to go for any vehicle repair needs. Now, Frank has earned me as a customer, and I’ll be bringing my car there for any future needs.

A true blessing to have come across this shop. My vehicle failed the State inspection in which an alternate shop was attempting to charge nearly $4,500 for repairs with little clarity. Upon receiving a referral to speak with Frank, the vehicle was repaired for drastically less. Service No “upselling” for unnecessary repairs. Communication They are prompt in answering calls without having to constantly call back for a response. My invoice and completed repairs within the time frame quoted. Upon picking up my vehicle, it was explained to me (with minimal car knowledge) what the issues were. As long as my residency remains in the DC metro area, I will service my vehicle here.

We recently had the brake assembly replaced on our daughter's vehicle and couldn’t be more satisfied with the service received. Frank was professional, knowledgeable, and transparent about the process taking the time to explain the issue and provided a fair and detailed estimate. Highly recommend to anyone in need of reliable, honest automotive service. Will certainly return.

Very friendly family owned repair shop. Did amazing work on our 2013 mini Cooper. We showed up with gear/clutch issues. They did a thorough inspection. The head mechanic took the time to walk through the issues and even showed us the parts with the wear and tear damages. Now our car runs like new! Give them a try!

Brought my car in for safety inspection 4/25/24 and check engine lights. I was told a couple days as they were busy. Said okay, I called 4/29/24 to ask for an update all they told me was the car failed still wasn’t in the shop to see what was causing the check engine. They said that on Wednesday 5/1/24 they would have it up. No update after that. I call 5/7/24 and still my car was waiting. I was told this time my car was next and on Wednesday 5/8/24 it would be inside. I went today 5/10/24 I had enough I went and asked for my car. One of the guys just gave me excuses after excuses but they didn’t bother to call me and let me know what was going on. He said “give me a couple days” it’s been 15 days nothing was done. Overall terrible customer service on informing the customer of what’s going on, they are taking on more work than they can handle.

Very pleased upon moving back to the area to find someone honest. I dropped my car off for service and a once over along with inspections. Happy with the service and how Frank worked with me on timing.

I am so happy to have found a good local mechanic. I had a check engine light come on late one evening. I called the next morning and Frank was able to get me in right away. I was very pleased with the promptness and affordability, as well as the professionalism with which I was treated. Frank (new owner) stands behind his work.

I was going to use their business to get my inspection done. However, the gentleman I spoke with was very rude. I would never get anything done there and advise certain people to never go there. I got the sense they are only nice and respectful to certain people.

This is the only place I trust with my cars. Me and everyone I know have had bad experiences with dishonest shops or worse dealership shops. Almost everytime I talk to someone about their experience with car issues and mechanics, it usually ends with them being upcharged or straight up lied to. This has led me to learn how to work on cars and fix whatever I can fix myself. With Mike I don't have that issue. He's has always been fair and honest. I don't ever feel like I have to second guess the diagnosis or the pricing. This is literally the only place that I will work on my cars.

Have brought our cars here for two years for state and emission inspection. They got it in and done in a timely manner. As an amateur auto mechanic, I maintain my car well. So very happy there were no surprise and they passed everything. Very efficient, polite and responsive staff. Wait Room is excellent /w AC and heater, keep you comfortable.

I came here first for my company cars emissions. Great service and quick turnaround. I came back for my personal vehicle repair and inspection and received the same great service. They act like they love their job and what they do. I kinda quit my over 20 relationship with my previous mechanic and started creeping with Mike Finks Shop!! Lol..I told my mechanic I got work done somewhere else and he wasnt happy but we're still friends..lol..

This is the most honest mechanic that I have ever used in my life. You have got to bring your vehicles here there are no mistakes he's honest and will tell you if you need something or not hold off or use this or that. Mike cares for each customer and he knows their names and he ask about their families this guy is the real deal. Bring your cars to him he is trustworthy.!
