Let me preface my experience by mentioning that the receptionist was incredibly welcoming and efficient, but the mechanics are lackluster. The two young mechanic's (Early 20s maybe?) working seemed like it was too much of a bother for me to ask questions. Went in for a broken front pipe, just before the Catalytic. From what I was told over the phone, it's a Muffler/Exhaust shop that doesn't have a welder. Had an appointment and was given the run around as to when the car was going to be worked on. Maybe 2 days, maybe a whole week. No definitive answers. You're better off going to Howard Road Garage.

I've had great experiences at other locations, so I felt comfortable trying this one. My battery light was coming on (despite buying a new battery last year), so I dropped it off. Within an hour, they called me to tell me the battery was old and needed to be totally replaced for $250. I was suspicious, but decided to trust them. Low and behold battery light popped back on a few days later. The front desk immediately assumed that it was the alternator. So now I'm out $250 for a battery that was probably fine, and I'll be out the cost for an alternator. They'll probably recharge my old battery and pass that off to someone else for another $250. And how many times will I have to keep going back because it turns out that it was something else? They managed to get me once, but I will not be giving them the chance to take advantage of me again. Again, other Monroe Auto locations have been great, but I will be avoiding this one.

Went in for an engine light diagnosis after codes read cylinder misfire. They had it the first day for 7 hours and didn’t touch it. Second day brought it back and finally got to it after several hours. They told me they needed to replace the spark plug and coil pack even though the vehicle had 6 new plugs installed in July with paperwork proof. 5 minutes after leaving the shop the light came back on with the same misfire code. Took it back and they said “we’ll have to do some more research and make sure we actually changed it in the right cylinder”. How does a shop not do the research before replacing parts all willy nilly. Took it back a third time and they had no answer as to what could be wrong with it. Finally took it to a dealership and they were able to diagnose all the issues in under two hours and the issue had nothing to do with the spark plug or coil pack. Paid Monro $591 for absolutely nothing but headache and multiple days without my vehicle.

Great experience. The person scheduling the appointment and In the reception area was both friendly and knowledgeable. She handled both customers and employees in a kind and respectful manner. The mechanics who worked on my car seem to be very good at what they were doing. I was able to get in on the same day and the work took a reasonable amount of time.

I just left Monro Auto Service and Tire Center on Howard Road in Gates. Sheila was able to accommodate my schedule and bring my car in to be looked at by Sam. Not only did Sam explain everything to me, but he showed me what was “right “ on my car, not just what was wrong. This was such a refreshing change from my normal experience with mechanics. Sam made me feel relieved because my daughter drives my car and he told me it was safe and a good car for a new driver to drive! Sam answered all my questions and was patient. I appreciate Sheila and Sam so much.

Was apprised that my F150 needed rear brakes pads and rotors, and a new battery. Plus the rear p/s TPM sensor was replaced b/c the light was on. Tech had trouble getting rear wheel off and manager advised me that it would need to be heated up to remove the wheel. All work completed. I paid $1150+ taxes upon pick up and drove vehicle home and parked it until work the next day. I noticed an odor of brake when driving to my daughter to class. Called to report this to the manager and will be dropping the car off so that they can address the issues. The experience was positive. I will update this post after the return visit. Prior to any work, I stressed to the manager that I was looking for a dependable repair shop for all vehicles in iny household as that it is hard to secure one. Time will tell. She relayed that he techs in the shop are young. I sheared that if they are good at what they do... It wouldn't be a problem.

I used to come here for years without issue. I made an appointment for an oil change and when I came in he stated that he could not do it because they don’t have the oil or could order it? When I went to another location it was no problem? So if you have any German car, Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, you can’t even get an oil change. Should have told me this when they made the appointment for me. Very unprofessional

Very bad know workers came at 8:38 am wasted to come back at 1pm I wish I had went some place else almost left without my donut them they just Throw it in the back, didn't even put it beneath in back in the trunk.They supposed to put it back and lock it.They didn't do that

DO NOT - I REPEAT DO NOT BUY TIRES FROM THIS COMPANY. I purchased (4) brand new tires TWICE within 11 months of purchasing (4) BRAND NEW TIRES. After their tires failed first time they never helped, stated the manufacturer the first (4) tires came from don’t make my size tires any longer, so had to purchase all (4) brand new tires all over again, this time making SURE they are warrantied, and now 12 months later there are huge golf ball size knots on (2) of the tires and Monroe is not replacing them under warranty placing a blame of some sort. Every single time their tires are failing and Monroe makes one excuse after another. BEWARE!! I am seeing to it that EVERYONE STEERS CLEAR!!

Changed my windshield wipers even though I just got them replaced a week prior, and then proceeded to charge me for them. Never called to inform me, just slapped me with a receipt at checkout. Worst place, I'm also starting to think they were never replaced.

This place is a mess. Had to put a star but they don’t deserve it. I had a warranty to cover a nail in my tire. They lied to Allstate saying they had already put the tire on my car (they hadn’t)… Because of this Allstate said the service was authorized and could not pay it in full but they would email a payment to Monro and it would take several days to process. Monro Motor would not put the tire on until it was paid for. Had they told the truth the transaction would have been instant according to Allstate and my tire would be on. Instead I had to pay it in full so I could have my car fixed and now I’m waiting for Allstate to approve a partial coverage for a warranty I literally paid for. Unreal. Thanks for your effort Monro.
