2024: Management has changed - there are improvements such as keeping track of service in a system and invoices, but there are other changes such as fixing things on inspection without prior approval and a confusing credit card fee (which I don’t object to paying). Also emailed the address on the form without response. 2021: Super nice and incredibly fair for years. I trust these guys with my old Mini Cooper and recommend them every chance I get - Wagih is great!

#ExactChange Wagih is the owner of M & S Auto and Welding and has been my mechanic for the past 5 years. I met him in 2013 when he inspected a 2001 Subaru Forester that I wanted to buy from a friend of mine. Friends, Friends; Buisness, Buisness was ringing in my head as I drove the car into his shop. Wagih checked all the major stuff, asked me how much I was going to pay for the car and shrugged and said “It’s OK. It was the summer of the Arab Spring and Wagih was listening to internet BBC radio coverage from Egypt. He is Coptic Christian from Egypt and has been in the United States since 2009 and he was very hopeful for his country, but wary of the uncertainty, well deserved warriness from today’s vantage point. Last week I brought my Subaru back to Wagih to do a final oil change before I sold it back to my friend. Michael Perrone sold it to me 5 years ago when he was moving to Qatar and no longer needed a car. He recently bought a church in Vermont and decided to buy his Subaru back even with it’s 50,000 additional miles and a new collection of minor dents and scratches. Wagih changed the oil, topped the fluids and reset all the warning lights and sent me on my way. Having participated in a few of my projects, including Free Ice Water and Free Hot Coffee, he was happy to accept 50 Sacagawea coins as payment in full for my final Subaru service call.

Having been to numerous mechanics in the city this is hands down my favorite. The owner is direct and quick. He talks through everything and is patient explaining problems and all possible solutions. The shop charges less for most services in the city. Call a few places and check to compare. Personally I have not felt overcharged once. The service is quick. Seriously quick. The offset is the availability. I often have to be there at 8, or not at all. And on that note, the range is very wide. I have had welding work done, compresser overhauls, undercarriage replacements, inspections, alternator and window repairs. Same day, no wait. All if you get there early. For the speed and relative affordability, I have not noticed a lack in quality. The repairs are long lasting, and if there are any doubts about how long something will last, you will be told straight up. Pros: -Affordable -Fast -Long lasting -answers phone -provides full repair solutions and alternatives Cons: -limited scheduling Overall I have had good experience at this shop, and would recommend it for most car repairs.

I called with little notice to get a state inspection and oil change and was told I could drop off the next morning. The staff who greeted me were so kind and I got a call my car was done just a couple of hours later! Will definitely come here again.

Pretty certain I just got overcharged for an oil change - it was 110$ to replace the synthetic oil on my '97 Honda Accord. I recoiled at the price and the guy explained that the synthetic oil alone cost 85$. After it was done I asked to see the oil used and took a picture so I could find out what the cost would have been. Kirkland SAE 5W-30 dull synthetic motorl oil, 5Q (1.25 Gal). Guy said it was 85$ but I found a 4-pack online for 95$. I get that the cost of living has risen and whatnot but I feel like I've been lied to so I'm not coming back. If you come here just be careful. I've gotten other repair work done here and I had no reason to think I had been overcharged until now.

Think twice before trusting the high rating here. Had a simple repair. Door lock was messed up. Went in to change the door lock actuator for 300. They did the work and broke both cables inside the door and tried to tape them in place so when I opened the door it snapped and they blamed it on me. Worst experience getting simple car work done. They created 2 problems and now my window won't work as well. Just took it to my original body shop and spend an additional 500 to get m and s auto broke. Never been blamed for repair mistakes by the bodyshop before. Will never go back!!

Don't go here if you value your time. Tried to get a simple inspection done. Made an appointment for 10am in about a week. Showed up at 9:30am and the "inspection guy" wasn't there and wouldn't be until 12pm. This I called first at 12pm. "Maybe the inspection guy will be here in 20 minutes." Tired of my time being wasted, I moved onto something else. Called again at 1pm. "He was here when I said 20 minutes, now he's going to a doctor's appointment. Why didn't you come when I said 20 minutes??" I don't think their "inspection guy" exists.

Took my car here for a quick inspection and oil change and was told i needed $890 in repairs because my serpentine belt was cracked and my rotars were rusty. Took It somewhere reliable and and neither of those things were true. Paid $124 for my oil change and inspection. Almost lost more than $700 for nothing. Felt very taken advantage of because I am a woman who doesn’t know a lot about cars.

Very punctual, very willing to help, didn’t push me to get things I didn’t need. I just needed a quick break pad change passing through on a road trip and they got me fixed right up.

Amazing service. Diagnosed my car’s (2010 CRV) problem after a quick drive around the block and visual inspection (he even let me look while my car was up on the lift!). Fixed it the same day for a reasonable price. Very polite and sweet guy!

I have been coming here for 3 years and I won’t go anywhere else in Richmond. The employees are kind, the prices are good, and as a woman, I love that they are respectful towards me and I don’t feel like i’m being talked down to or anything which I’ve experienced at other places. I would recommend this repair shop to anyone.

I submitted this review below more than 6 years ago. Here is my updated review, cross-posted. 2022 I really can’t say enough good things about this shop and its owner. I’ve been taking my cars there for 7 years and have never, never had any reason to question the quality of work or its value. I routinely take my daughters’ cars there before the leave on road trips so that I can be assured that they are safe and everything is in order. I’ve taken several cars to this shop that were in accidents. He has a body shop offsite and the work has always been meticulous. Most recently, I brought our new Kia electric car after it was in an accident. The car was gone through comprehensively replacing every damaged mechanical part. I so appreciate Mr. Sharoubim’s concern and commitment to safety. One will not find a better resource in Richmond for repairs and advice. 2016 This is a real auto shop with a a real mechanic. Waghi, the owner, fixes things. Unlike many shop who just swap out parts until or if the problem is solved, Waghi, uses his engineering background to figure out what's wrong and then fixes it. He's also one of the kindest, most honest people I've met. He doesn't have all the technology, so he'll refer you on if need be. He's always my first stop and usually my last.

Passing through town on a weekend in an RV (Ford Econoline), we had a major problem with the serpentine belt tensioner. Was charged $550 flat for a new serpentine belt and tensioner with no invoice or explanation of parts or labor. We really appreciated the quick fix on a Saturday so we could get our home back on the road, but it felt like we were unfairly charged double the amount for this work.

Professional and quick! Had a problem with the AC on my Ford. Dealership couldn't see us for at least a month, but with a newborn, couldn't wait that long. Called up M&S based on reviews here on Google. Dropped it off in the afternoon, had it back the next day, and the AC works like a dream. And the cost was much fairer than what I'd expect from the dealership. Highly recommended. And the owner seems like a great guy.

The owner is very nice, his team works efficiently, and their pricing and service feels very straight-forward, not like so many shops where they try to scare you into having more done than is needed or change the pricing once they get your car up on a jack. I'm returning to see if they can install a catalytic converter cover for me. I think I've found my new go-to mechanic!

Wagih and team are amazing! No matter the issue and no matter the turn around, they are able to help. Their prices are honest and they are incredibly easy to work with. They’ve fixed tire alignment issues that another shop caused, diagnosed mystery noises and much more. Highly highly recommend.

Can't thank M&S enough. My daughter (in college) had an issue where her battery was draining because the interior lights were staying on. I needed a quick fix and called to see if they could help her quickly. She got the car there in 15 minutes and they solved our problem in another 15 minutes for no charge! Thanks so much for helping us out!
