Honestly this place has the greatest learning environment for auto skills in the area. One of the best hobby shops I've ever been too in the Navy.

I have absolutely no words after leaving the auto skill center. It’s 100% cheaper to do things out in town than it is on base. Don’t even waste your time they were charging almost double Walmart would charge to mount and balance tires and Walmart included a lifetime, balance, and rotation with their price!! Absolutely no sense of urgency. I guess the employees can’t be fired for moving at a snail’s pace. NAS Jax is much better. Avoid this place at all cost I would only go here if I literally was stranded on the side of the road and needed their help.

Im sure it's probably a great shop , with great guys and equipment . It is just so frustrating for sailors assigned to ships and duty sections to get anything done here with their hours. Safety walk through required, apparently at 1500 on weekdays now. They close at 1700 on weekdays so if you have work , forget about it. They're closed on Mondays, so if your command gives you a Monday off as a 72 (non holiday) forget about it . And they're only open 1 day out of the weekends so hope you don't have duty that one day. It's so frustrating compared to every other base I've been to. Please make the hours more useful for sailors. Maybe open later and close later or find a way to open more during the weekend🙏

I will never do any repairs in my drive way again! Everything you need is here. Even those small things you might forget like rags, grease, pb blaster, zip ties, etc. Everyone in the facility is helpful and willing to lend a hand, suggest something or help you figure out your next steps. They also take all fluids and old parts even if you didnt do the repairs here. Air pump is free to use. They can order parts for you. If your going to use the facility, you must attend a safety and informative training t-f at 1300. Do it before you need to use the facility. First come first serve!

They have the know how. You bring parts and labor, they provide tools. I saved ~ 5K-7K in labor alone. If you're not sure if you can do it yourself go in and explain the issue(s) you have and they can explain the process and you can decide if it is worth it. *Hint, it probably is.

They've helped me all through the process of learning more about my car and learning how to work on it and even giving me ideas on things to do with it, I wouldn't have been able to be so happy with the car I've got without them.

First come first served to have work performed thus always a extremely long wait if they can get to you at all. To use facilities to work on vehicle yourself you have to go through safety class which isn't very convenient.

I can say this they wait on me hand and foot every time I walk through the door and I'll pay my car get this baby never had a problem even with the tires brand new balance and line it they are great I take all my vehicles today

Took a tour around the shop, & was taught how to use each machine. Mechanics were around to help out. Quick & easy maintenance for a fair price. A spot for gearheads // car enthusiasts.

What a great place!!! I am retired and have been to quite a few auto hobby shops all over the country. This is by far the friendliest staff of any I have been to. We were camping at the Osprey Cove on base and I signed up for the class to get access to the facility. The gentlemen who gave the tour was extremely knowledgeable and professional. (sorry forgot his name but has cool tattoos) I was planning to check my brakes and just give my vehicle an inspection since we drove our 1991 GMC Truck from Ohio to Florida. When I saw how reasonable the rates were, I decided to let the guys there work on my truck since I was on vacation. Very professional and extremely reasonable pricing. Truck didn't need brakes but I still got a thorough inspection and made it back with no problem!! Plenty of spots to work on your vehicles and the shop is clean and has lots of specialty equipment and parts available from their contract with NAPA. Keep up the great work!!!!

Got my brakes done here last year, and some inexpensive undercarriage repairs. Make sure you call ahead and see if they can do the service you require. Convenient for on base and good list of services.

Had an oil change on a new Honda Civic Left the place going home my car didn't want to go faster than 30 miles making noise all the way home came back to the Mayport base had oil leaking from the engine got a phone call from MWR Hobby shop that they forgot to put the oil cap on and they had it on their desk and had 2 mechanics bringing it to me Another time pay for windshield wiper motor pump replacement They didn't put it right and came off while driving went back to have them fix it and they used excuses to not fix it Recently a week ago spent almost 400 dollars for 4 new Goodyear tires they did balance all 4 tires and as soon as I pulled out the shop car stat acting funny when you didn't expect while driving the car wanted to pull to the right They are Street mechanics that are not willing to neither to work nor to assist and provide quality customer service Horrible environment Pathetic so called mechanics with a very nasty and very toxic attitude! I spent 22 years in the USN active duty and stationed to different NS and NAS's and visited alot of Hobbyshops The one at NS Mayport is very Horrible Don't recommendit to anyone till they change all the so called mechanics that like to do anything but work and earn their paychecks ! Horrible service Horrible experience

This is a great place to wrench on your own vehicle. I just wish it was open more after normal working hours. Like if you had hours from like 1200 to 1900 that way people, like myself, could use the facilities more often.
