My daughter burned out the clutch on my car across the street from the shop in the Lane Tech parking lot. I have now been going to North Center and working with Elmer for 3-4 years since. He is a trusted mechanic, always does what he says and is very reasonable. What a find!

Check engine light came on. Had free diagnostics done at jiffy lube indicating my catalytic converter needed work. Took my car to a shop by my apartment in Avondale where they repeated the diagnostics (which cost 150$) and recommended a full replacement of the front cat, which would've costed over 2000 dollars. Gave Elmer a call and suggested the fuel injectors may need cleaning/replacement to which he agreed. Total service was less than 300$. Big relief. For the flexibility and honesty of this interaction, I'd definitely recommend North Center Auto to anyone.

Elmer is a terrific manager and extremely accommodating to help solve your car problems.... quickly. One time he walked with me to my car a few blocks away to examine the car issue. The second time I was able to drive him to my second car so he jump it and drive it back to his shop. Not too many people would do that. I recommend if you live around Roscoe Village and have a car problem, call North Center Auto Service. A third time he had his Assistant Frank drive to my place when my car wouldn't start. Frank tried to charge my battery and realized it was completely dead. He came back with a second charger and was able to start my car and return it to the shop where he installed a new battery. This was done in a short period of time. I tell you, you can't go wrong North Center Auto Service!

Engine Light on- Never a good sign. I am so grateful that Bob from SoundzGood referred me here. Elmer runs a top notch professional auto service business. Frank is the best mechanic in the city. He patiently discussed the issues, respectfully explained step by step options, and my car was efficiently running after overnight checkup and was at a reasonable cost. What a sham. This place parked my car illegally on the street while “working on it” acquiring multiple tickets which they did not help with. Not to mention they overcharged me for the little work they did. Avoid at all costs! Which are high.

This business was consistently so incredibly kind and served to be a competent business. They worked with me through troubleshooting my car and was so generous and personal in their interactions with me. They were honest in their workup and I appreciate the candidacy. I had taken my car to another nearby shop based on positive reviews to get an oil change, tire rotation, and to have my car looked after experiencing my steering wheel shake going 60-70mph on the highway, so I knew something was wrong. The shop had informed me that my rear shocks and two front stabilizer links, plus the oil change and tire rotation would cost me $1000. I decided not to get the other parts replaced and called around to see if I could get it done for less. Luckily North Center was kind and honest and was able to do it for less than that shop, plus the owner gave me a 10% discount for accidentally quoting me wrong. I had asked him if I was overcharged at the other place ($165 for tire rotation plus $69 for the oil change) and he confirmed that’s way over priced. I appreciate the honesty and quality work this shop does and does not taken advantage of women, unlike the other shop located on Damen. I would absolutely recommend going here and I will most certainly be getting my oil changed at this place from here on out.

Hands down the best mechanic in Chicago🙌🏼 I recently moved here and have had some bad luck with my car since arriving. North Center Auto Service was recommended to me by a family friend in the area, and am so thankful. Cause of Elmer my car is running again(: The customer service here can’t be beat. Also, as a woman with foundational car knowledge, going to a car mechanic puts me on high alert cause I expect my lack of car knowledge to be taken advantage of. Elmer made sure I did not feel that way in the slightest, which was so comforting. I knew the repairs needed for my vehicle were big repairs, but Elmer did it for a fair price. I will be taking my vehicles here for the foreseeable future😄

Absolute Honest and Trustworthy mechanic. Grade "A" Service and very knowledgeable on all aspects of Automotive. I am extremely grateful for Elmer's work ethics and satisfactory results. First time visit; I have a “new to me” car and wanted to start fresh at a new shop after ending on a very sour note at my last shop. Scheduling was easy, the men I spoke with were pleasant and thorough, and their recommendations didn’t surprise me. My car was ready on time. I will definitely go there next time. Oh and a really cute shop dog as a bonus.
