Elmer is a terrific manager and extremely accommodating to help solve your car problems.... quickly. One time he walked with me to my car a few blocks away to examine the car issue. The second time I was able to drive him to my second car so he jump it and drive it back to his shop. Not too many people would do that. I recommend if you live around Roscoe Village and have a car problem, call North Center Auto Service.

What a sham. This place parked my car illegally on the street while “working on it” acquiring multiple tickets which they did not help with. Not to mention they overcharged me for the little work they did. Avoid at all costs! Which are high.

I wish I could rate them higher. Dealing with Elmer was a pleasure. They fixed my car in a timely manner at a reasonable price. They did exactly what they said they were going to do, which is rare in today’s world. Highly recommend!!

This business was consistently so incredibly kind and served to be a competent business. They worked with me through troubleshooting my car and was so generous and personal in their interactions with me. They were honest in their workup and I appreciate the candidacy. North Center left a positive experience with me, and I will come back to them if I need any further car maintenance.

Hands down the best mechanic in Chicago🙌🏼 I recently moved here and have had some bad luck with my car since arriving. North Center Auto Service was recommended to me by a family friend in the area, and am so thankful. Cause of Elmer my car is running again(: The customer service here can’t be beat. Also, as a woman with foundational car knowledge, going to a car mechanic puts me on high alert cause I expect my lack of car knowledge to be taken advantage of. Elmer made sure I did not feel that way in the slightest, which was so comforting. I knew the repairs needed for my vehicle were big repairs, but Elmer did it for a fair price. I will be taking my vehicles here for the foreseeable future😄

I had taken my car to another nearby shop based on positive reviews to get an oil change, tire rotation, and to have my car looked after experiencing my steering wheel shake going 60-70mph on the highway, so I knew something was wrong. The shop had informed me that my rear shocks and two front stabilizer links, plus the oil change and tire rotation would cost me $1000. I decided not to get the other parts replaced and called around to see if I could get it done for less. Luckily North Center was kind and honest and was able to do it for less than that shop, plus the owner gave me a 10% discount for accidentally quoting me wrong. I had asked him if I was overcharged at the other place ($165 for tire rotation plus $69 for the oil change) and he confirmed that’s way over priced. I appreciate the honesty and quality work this shop does and does not taken advantage of women, unlike the other shop located on Damen. I would absolutely recommend going here and I will most certainly be getting my oil changed at this place from here on out.

First time visit; I have a “new to me” car and wanted to start fresh at a new shop after ending on a very sour note at my last shop. Scheduling was easy, the men I spoke with were pleasant and thorough, and their recommendations didn’t surprise me. My car was ready on time. I will definitely go there next time. Oh and a really cute shop dog as a bonus.

After bouts of electrical issues, I took my car in where I was told that the aux battery had gone out, and I needed new brake pads/rotors. This was going to cost my around $1,300, then upon arriving to pick up my car, another $400 was added since there was a “mistake” in my quote. After getting my car back, the electrical issues have persisted and absolutely nothing has changed. When all was said and done, I basically just spent $1,500 for brake pads. Elmer was very polite and communicative and seeing from past reviews, this appears to be an outlier—but I will not be returning.

Absolute Honest and Trustworthy mechanic. Grade "A" Service and very knowledgeable on all aspects of Automotive. I am extremely grateful for Elmer's work ethics and satisfactory results. Elmer is AWESOME. Knowledgable, fair pricing, and trustworthy. I feel so lucky to have found him. I have been to him several times over the past 2 years with various things (oil change, tire seemed to have leak in it, engine harness). Most recently I went to him to help repair my engine harness - the dealer quoted me over $1800 to replace the engine harness after it was discovered there was a rodent living in my hood. I took it to Elmer and he not only quoted me less, but found an additional issue the dealer hadn’t that was causing 2 other warning lights to fire. Elmer was more thorough than the dealer - not a surprise! Highly recommend Elmer and his team and will continue going back to him for any car issues!

These guys are absolutely great! Had my check engine and oil pressure lights come on in my car and they diagnosed the issue quickly and I had my car back within 36 hours, running like brand new. Pricing was reasonable. A month later and my car is still running great. I will absolutely be back for my oil changes and any other repair work needed.
