I was literally scammed I took my car to Pasten Automotive by tow truck on February 6th. There was a problem with the transmission of my car. Marco got back to me 1 week later and asked me for 2140 dollars for the part. +1000 dollars for labor. I paid him 2140 dollars in cash. He did not repair my car and did not answer the phone. When I went to the shop, he was not there. He parked my car on the street for months and did not care. And months later, he said he could not repair my car and did not refund my money. I took my car to another mechanic in July with the same problem by tow truck. I took the car to another mechanic and had it fixed. Pasten Automotive did not refund my money and my car waited in their shop for months as broken down. I am in the process of filing a lawsuit, please do not be a victim like me.

I have found Marco Pasten of Pasten Automotive to be an extraordinarily honorable and trustyworthy person, which is why he has been my go-to mechanic for several years, ever since a recommendation many years ago by a AAA towtruck driver. He always gives accurate estimates for both the price and length of time it will take for the job, and he is very transparent about his pricing. He has excellent communication skills and always goes the extra mile to send me away happy. I cannot say enough about Marco and feel fortunate to have found him because I have found it difficult to find a mechanic I can trust.

I have been a client of this shop since 2019. I always have a great experience with the mechanics! They are professional, honest and up front. If they cannot do the job, they have even offered to help me find someone who can. I get all my car services done at Pasten Automotive and leave satisfied with the work!!! They get the job done in a timely manner and always tell me what is needed before the work in done. The prices are great and the shop is accessible. Thank you all for helping me stay on the road, one oil change at a time! 🤗

I am VERY satisfied with the service at Pasten Automotive. They repair and maintain my older model cars and their quality of service and professionalism is outstanding! ..After around a decade of amazing service on my car, they kept a (high mileage) car like mine, on the road and working perfectly to this day.. so that I may work as a delivery driver. At times, my income has actually depended on Pasten Automotive repairs and they never let me down on availability of service or prices! I first contacted Marco because my local Pepboy was telling me that I needed repairs. I asked them to print the reports with the parts needing the repair. Marco took time and test drove my car, and told me no immediate repair was needed. He also reviewed the Pepboy reports and told me they did not put anything that they told me, but lots of “limited warranty.” Everytime I get some lights on, they check. They even put fluids for free when I just came for the check and no service. They tell their honest opinions, such as how soon I need to get the repair. And when they repair, they try to combine the services to save money on labor. Recently I got my engine lights on, and Ed, Carols and Marco took 2 weekend days to find out the issue. The problem was too large of the amount to fix, so they told me to get a new car. Since the safety is not compromised, they are happy to take care of my car for the maintenance service until I get the new car. They took time to explain the issue the way I understand. They never “sell” unnecessary services just to make a quick money. They look for a long term relationship, and want their customers to be happy. I am very happy that I found them, and I want them to take care of all of my cars that I am getting in the future.

Please DO NOT take your car here!!! My partner and I took our car in for service in November 2023. The next 5 months were HELL as we waited patiently for Marco to fix our car. Marco was dishonest about the work that was done. On the first occasion of picking up our car it broke down on the way home. Called Marco who came and picked it up and took it back to the shop to “fix it” again. Weeks went by with limited communication from Marco. Picked our car up the second time and it started shaking like crazy on the drive home. Back to the shop it went for weeks. Total cost for all of the “work” done was $1900. We paid cash up front before the work was complete. I wish we had used our bank card to dispute the charge. Not to mention, our car received not one but TWO parking tickets while at the shop, and neither were brought to our attention until we received the tickets in the mail. We were shocked. Marco was extremely difficult and unprofessional to work with, was consistently unavailable when we would show up to the shop, and would ignore our calls when we wanted status updates on our car. He took advantage of us. Hopefully this review saves you from being scammed!

A few months back, I was involved in a hit-and-run incident that caused significant damage to the back of my car. Thankfully, I stumbled upon Pasten, and it turned out to be a stroke of luck. The service I received there was exceptional - the staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and professional. I wholeheartedly recommend Pasten to anyone seeking peace of mind when it comes to their car repairs.

Don’t pay cash. Marco will stop communicating with you entirely. Seemed like a nice guy until he didn’t have a solution to our problem. Multiple broken promises later, we’re left frustrated dealing with the problem on our own

NOT RELIABLE. I’m really surprised Marco lied to me so many times. I’ve attempted to call him so many times for the basic updates and with no response. // I had to go in person to the shop because he’s stopped picking up or returning my calls. He said “accidentally blocked my number” but now it seems my husband’s number is blocked too. My car still has the same problem as when I first brought it in. With so many mechanics in LA, I recommend you DON’T GO THIS SHOP.

A tow truck driver tricked me into coming here. I brought the vehicle in for a fuel issue. Instead, they removed and broke a brand new starter and tried to charge me $1,000 for a flywheel. At least they leave your vehicle on the street near a homeless encampment.

My past mechanic (for 20+ yrs) stopped doing major repairs, and I fortunately found Pasten Automotive. I’d like to say we’ve been going to this shop since 2014 and have never been disappointed with their service. They may get busy some days but I’ve always got my car when they told me it would be done... (more or less.) I’ve had several friends referred that have been happy with their work and reasonable (competitive) prices.

My wife and I have been using Pasten Automotive for a few years now, since moving into the neighbourhood. I wouldn't take my vehicle anywhere else. Marco, the owner, is one of the nicest, most honest, trustworthy and reliable people you'll have the pleasure to meet. He's the exact opposite of the type of mechanic the vast majority of us conjure up in our minds when thinking of them....they type that tell you there's 22 things wrong with your car, instead of just fixing your oil-leak and letting you get away without paying a small fortune for dubious upsells. Marco will explain, and show you, exactly what went wrong, how they fixed it, and will never try and get you to sign on for unnecessary work. Such a refreshing change! He even hands you the broken parts over so you know exactly what was fixed, to guarantee he's not trying to be sneaky! It's also nice to go to get your car fixed and come away with a smile on your face. As we live close-by, Marco has brought our newly-repaired car to our house a few times, which is just amazing. He's even turned up with a battery to jump-start our car after the battery ran out. You won't get that kind of service at one of the chain garages, that's for sure. If your car breaks down, get it over to Pasten Automotive (ahem, or have them pick it up to get it there), you won't regret it.

We were helped by Edwin he was very friendly and helpful. I will be a lifetime customer because they really care about people. We had an ongoing issue with our car and Edwin took the time to walk us through what the possible problems could be and it was nice that he walked us through the process and fixes he was making. This place is incredible and very honest which is hard to come by. Thanks again for all your hard work!

Of all the car mechanics, Marco is #1. He's always given solid advice, tells his customers how long a part will last and when it needs to be replaced, and sacrifices his own personal time to help. I can't recommend him enough. Stop looking for a mechanic, and go to him. You won't be disappointed.

Perfect combination of professional mechanics and good honest people. Where your last mechanic failed, they will accomplish. My mom introduced the owner marco to me when i was in need of a power steering replacement. When it was all said and done i was not charged for the inspection and i receive a major discount when i simply explained my back account was concerning me. If your like me you don't want to spend a bunch of time getting quotes for repairs and finding honest mechanics, this is why hands down pasten automotive is your best bet. If honesty and availability Is a priority with your mechanic then don't waste your time anywhere else SERIOUSLY call Pasten Automotive. Hope this helps!

Amazing service. I was new to LA and looking for a trustworthy shop and found this gem. Marco only fixes what you need and gives you a very reasonable and fair price. His team is great with service and willing to work with you on repairs. For one of my repairs, the owner even came in after hours to let me get my car in time for work the next day.

Excellent service. Everything you’d want from an auto shop, honesty, trustworthiness, and friendly and knowledgeable staff. They’ve went above and beyond for me on several occasions. Will definitely be bringing all my cars here in the future as long as I live in the area. They’re very busy, so be patient. If they don’t answer the phone, give it a few minutes and try again.

Marco and everyone there are not only friendly but do a great job. They get it right the first time. If I ever have a problem with my car, this is the place to go. My car runs like a dream! I love this place because they actually explain and show you what needs to be worked on. It's a crash course in auto mechanics. I feel respected and not taken advantage of. I won't trust my car to anyone else!!!
